The group that resides in this place of Northern Canada, is often just called "The Farmers" because they don't have an official name, they are pacifistic unconfrontational rural farmers, their main focus is trading and expanding their farmland and being under the radar, they won't do expeditions into Combine Controlled zones so that they can remain unknown that they even exist. They desire to expand until the whole island they reside on is under their control, and then they want influence over the other factions and ally with them. Becoming the breadbasket of the Resistance they shall rely on.
Their lifestyle is peaceful, to say the least, rising early in the morning and tending to the crops with their reconstructed tractors and tools, some are sent out around the island to scout and bring back any pieces of scrap and chop wood from the trees and of course bring back tools. They do not even have a hierarchy yet, everyone does their job and everyone gets to eat. Though if someone steps out of line they get exiled, if not shot.
Because the 7 hour war mainly focused on the major cities, the countryside and rural areas were left mostly alone, with a lot of the population getting away from the combine and not getting transferred to the cities, and with the news and horrors of the aliens being told to the rural population, most adopted a unconfrontational outlook towards the Union, preferring to stay out of their way when possible, and thus some people decided to make a village in this remote inconspicuous location, with food for enough and a lot to spare.
Most Vortigaunts have either a neutral or a positive outlook on them, some Vortigaunts even help with the farming, their Vortessence even helping the crops grow, having the effect of a really efficient fertilizer. Though some of the members still have a cautious or fearful outlook on the Vortigaunts, remembering the news of the Aliens doing massive destruction in the Seven Hour War.
Most groups especially Union ones have no idea The Farmers even exist, though there are certain individuals who are very knowledgable on this faction that have not yet joined The Farmers.
The technology of the group is either very advanced or very poor in some areas, their weaponry and automated systems are not that great, most if not all don't even know what a "Strider" or an "AR2" is, though they know their way around engineering and construction, they actually have sprinklers in most of the fields in preparation for droughts, though they are mostly living in the dark from the outside world, not even having the simplest of radio systems. But they have some hoverboats that are modified for cargo carry, though they use it for expedition missions. They mostly gain new technology through trade with the other factions
Their Forces are able to defend themselves and they have a moderate amount of firearms because most people in the countryside did own guns and ammunition, though if an attack from a trained force did come, they would quickly crumble.
Faction Relation Chart
Allied | Friends | Acquainted | Known | Unsure | Unknown | Disliked | Feared | Enemies
Conscripts & CP : Feared
Citizens : Unsure
Overwatch Transhuman Arm & Synths : Unknown
Bandits : Enemies
Vortigaunts : Friends/Feared
Zombies & Antlions : Unknown
Most Resistance Groups : Unknown
Liberation Front : Acquainted
EDIT: For clarification "Unknown" means they do not know the existence of said faction
You might ask why did I make a faction that is mostly inconsequential, well. I liked the idea that there is a faction that is mostly dormant till some other faction "wakes them up", and I wanted a faction that wasn't focused on fighting/propaganda. This faction has a lot of paths it can tread and when we can do decisions for factions it will be interesting what will be forged. I will probably come back to this faction sometime and edit it to look more neat and add more lore or something.
