"A March of Justice"
- Vytis, Sergeant of the 51st Regiment.
The Free Army was born in defiance. In the shadow of the Combine’s tightening grip, mutinous elements of the Guard and the Conscript Stabilization Force of City 24 turned their weapons away from their masters. News of the uprising in City Seventeen spread like wildfire, igniting long-suppressed fury within the ranks. These defectors rallied behind the rebellion of former Collaborator turned revolutionary Uwe Schulz, shattering the illusion of Combine control in the region and igniting the first sparks of organized resistance.
What began as scattered acts of insubordination soon crystallized into a force with purpose. Driven from the city in chaotic retreat, the mutinous men and women of the Genevan Guard stumbled upon the remnants of the 51st Regiment of the Conscript Stabilization Force. Under the charismatic leadership of Jouhad, a seasoned Sergeant, and Major Jack Denning, these veterans joined the swelling ranks, bringing with them discipline, experience, and an unyielding desire for redemption. From the chaos emerged order: a unified command, a clear political vision, and a military doctrine forged in desperation and resolve. The Free Army had become more than a rebellion—it had become a promise.
Struggling through the ardeous terrain of southeastern France in the Long March together with displaced refugees and insurgents, the Free Army took upon itself the burden of the displaced and the forgotten, sheltering refugees and binding together the shattered remnants of disorganized rebel cells. Each step carried them closer to their goal: Geneva—once City 24—the bastion of Combine authority. There, amid siege and uprising, they vowed to strike the final blow, to tear down the machinery of occupation, and to claim freedom from the grip of the Combine.
Traits
A Debt to Pay
“We bear a debt for our decision to aid the Occupant. To repay it, we fight for the rebellion and for the future of mankind. This burden falls upon all of us, for our debt can only be paid in blood and toil.”
From Traitors to Redeemers
“The decision to rebel and mutiny against the Combine has proven to be a death sentence. Yet there is no alternative—only freedom beyond the boots of tyranny. Refugees and hardened insurgents alike may not greet us with trust or kindness, but we endure.”
Small, but Strong
“Fewer in number than many others, the Free Army compensates with experience , organisation and veterancy. Having fought both man and beast, its soldiers are hardened by war, their lives spent almost entirely upon the battlefield.”
Rebel Infighting
“Persistent infighting among rebel factions has shifted priorities. Many within the Free Army view certain groups as unreliable and degenerate, raising serious concerns over the possibility of victory alongside such a disorganized rabble.”
Memory of the Fallen
“Our brothers and sisters lie dead and forgotten, sent to meaningless deaths by our former overlords. The slaughter we have endured must be answered in blood. The sacrifices and memories of those we have lost shall never be forgotten.”
