“Thou shall remove your trappings, for they are unneeded”
“Thou shall purify their body, so thou cannot be discriminated against”
“Thou shall renounce their bloodline, for thou shall ensure unity”
“Thus, you shall be one with the Great Weaver.”
“... and thou shall say in one grand calling”
“Great Weaver! Grandfather Weaver! You will deliver us!”

- Grand Elder “The Emissary” - Tenants of Purification

The Vortigaunt that would become the Emissary would start as merely a tinkerer prior to the Second Kin War. A kin hailing from the Duvan’Merda Region who had witnessed several important events in Vortigaunt History. His most fateful experience would be that of when he met High Elder Gen'Vas'Telram and was told of the path to prosper through the adoption of Kay’Basar ways. After this he would adopt Ooz’Merian hide and be one of his most faithful zealots in ensuring the total domination of Rok’Shan’Vass ways across the planet.
Rather than die of old age as would be expected of the generation of Vortigaunts who lived prior to the Age of Prosper. He would instead find refuge in the Vortessence and eventually ascend to the extremely rare stature of Grand Elder and effectively obtain near-immortality in the process. He would take the title of “The Zealot” and take up the mission that Gen'Vas'Telram had started to ensure that the Age of Prosper would never end.
He failed.
There was a lot of blame to be thrown around regarding what had exactly caused it. The Grand Elders in all their capability to detect what could occur in the future of the Vortigaunt species were completely blindsided by a moment of completely random probability that had led to an Age of Apocalypse that had completely destroyed the foundation of the Age of Prosper.
The Zealot was one of the small number of Grand Elders that would find their way into Xen. He was of a even smaller list of Grand Elders that had survived the wrath of the Nihilanth and had fallen into slavery along with the rest of his kin. His zealtory snuffed out. Now he would just be another nameless pawn of the Nihilanth.
That was until that fateful day in AD 2001 in which he would be one of the four Vortigaunts who directly witnessed the birth of the savior, and the beginning of a new era for Vortkind.
He would soon arrive on Earth.
Ground Zero. Black Mesa
.
This incident would have almost ensured his own destruction if not due to being saved due to the second passive human that he encountered during the incident: the infamous Eli Vance. Eli Vance had shown him what is possible with humanity and he in turn would part grave warnings of the inevitable arrival of the Greater Enemy onto Eli Vance. His travels with Eli Vance would eventually make this Grand Elder realize a new paradigm. A new solution for the future of Vortkind. This was the day when the Emissary would be born.

Protect us from the deluded humans, who march with their weaponry and rain steel onto us from the sky.
Ally with the humans who understand our cause.
Shield our new home, and keep it safe from the Enslavers’ claws.
Here, we shall create a new Agatoshi to weave new vortal generations. Here, we shall cleanse the False Walkers, convert or excommunicate those who will not accept your enrapturing truth.
Grandfather Weaver, we declare that we will create a new realm for you. We will conquer the undefined, combat the unclaimed, and spread ways of the Rok’Shan’Vass to all corners of this planet, to Humanity and Vortkind alike in the name of Kay'Basar before us.
Cherish us, for we cherish you.
Great Weaver! Grandfather Weaver! You will deliver us!
Great Weaver! Grandfather Weaver! You will deliver us!
Great Weaver! Grandfather Weaver! You will deliver us!
Great Weaver! Grandfather Weaver! You will deliver us!
- The Chant of the Kay'Basar Radicals

He followed Eli to City Seventeen and stayed near the city in a place known as White Forest, a former Soviet Missile Complex in the heart of Romania. His job in Eli’s newly formed ‘Lambda’ resistance was to act as an advisor on a grand exercise in removing the Combine from Earth while leading the Vortigaunts which persisted near City Seventeen.
Instead of finding warriors - He found slaves.
He found thousands of broken Vortigaunts who had been given liberation for only a couple of years before having it ripped away by the Combine and their traditions and culture deliberately dissolved in a campaign by the Combine to eliminate their desire to rebel. The many that did attempt to rebel often found themselves thrown into cells and drained of all their energy, often resulting in death as a warning to the others.
The creatures that remained were nothing more than False Walkers, kin who found a greater calling in adopting human culture. society and traditions rather than continuing the ways of the Rok’Shan’Vass as the majority of them once held.
He needed a solution - He would find one in Samarkand.
The ruins of the Samarkand would serve as the venue of the first council of grand elders in centuries. The subject would be the creation of a singular doctrine which would act as a way to transition their species back into the ways of the Rok’Shan’Vass.
The Dragon disagreed. Violence was the only priority.
The Master agreed only in principle, but it is unlikely that he would follow this doctrine.
The Monk agreed, but preferred his own ways about doing it.
The Wanderer completely agreed and would spread this doctrine.
The Unified ,in one of his exceedingly rare appearances, only nodded.
The three tenets of purification were created, but only the Wanderer and Emissary would agree with all three, the monk would only agree with two, the Master would only agree with one and the Dragon does not even care at all.
There was a second topic of discussion at this council, but instead of it ending in a peaceful solution there would only be an argument which almost ended in violence between kin.
It was dropped.- For it was the matter of humanity itself.

1. The many lives lost in the Kin Wars need not occurred, for we are all one in the Vortessence. Do not harm another Vortigaunt or be considered a Savage and exiled from Society
2. The cause of these wars was due to cultural divergence. A misunderstanding of societal needs. The Vortessence does not need this. The only correct manner to operate society is what the Vortessence demands of you rather than any heretical ideal.
3. You have evolved as the ultimate life form on this planet, but you do not need to destroy the planet. Take only what you need and do not consume this planet in a needless endeavor to show superiority over it. To that end, all items that you hold must have a purpose - if they do not then abstain from holding them.
4. Farming is permitted, but cannot be the sole means of sustenance as this risks the creation of a stratified society such as the one that the Ralsheck'Va Tribes had started to develop. The Ooz’Merian tradition of hunting and antlion husbandry must be maintained at all costs. If there is ever a way to provide such means without the risk of societal stratification then feel free to embark on more vigorous farming endeavors, but this must never completely sacrifice our previous societal traditions.
5. The Grandfather Weaver made our bodies strong enough to survive in most environments without the need for trappings. Only wear what you need for combat, or to persist in extreme environments and unless the vortessence demands that you do so, do not cover yourself with anything else.
6. Conflicts in the Vortessence should never be a burden towards our cultural development. So long as these tenets are maintained then conflict should be avoided and every Vortigaunt can live in harmony with one another, which should allow for the continued development of our culture without petty conflict getting in the way.
7. Beyond the few who are capable of seeing the Vortessence for what it truly is and the youngest among us. All others are to be considered as equals upon attaining maturity and no elder shall ever attempt to enforce his will upon an adult.
8. No hierarchy is permitted beyond the few capable of seeing the Vortessence for what it truly is and appointed High Elders through the means of the few.
9. The kin who are incapable of connecting with the Vortessence will be treated with respect and be permitted to live out their lives without exile from society.
10. If the time comes when our freedom is threatened, then we shall fight for that freedom at any cost to ourselves. Either total victory or our extinction. No further compromise shall we allow.
11. Ultimately, there is no distance between us. We are coterminous. You will never be alone under the Vortessence. All of us, through all of time and space, shall always be there for you even at the worst moments in Vortal History.

- The Approximate Tenets of the Rok’Shan’Vass according to the Emissary
These may have been corrupted over the eras to how they are displayed here.

As of late twenty-eighteen, the Emissary has achieved his new Agatoshi and a steady stream of liberated kin through Coalition and Lambda efforts in City 17 and other cities nearby have been indoctrinated into his ways. Some had resisted at first, but after being told of his grand mission from either himself, or his many envoys they had usually understood the importance of the restoration of the Rok’Shan’Vass.
The only regions in which this mission has failed are the regions in which other Grand Elders reside. The Emissary continues to find any in-roads that are possible into these regions which usually consists of a few rare followers from time to time who disagree with the ways of the other Grand Elders.
The other Grand Elders shall agree in time - for the Rok’Shan’Vass demands it.
Beyond the primacy of the ways of the Rok’Shan’Vass, the Emissary demands much of his kin. Many vortal critics feel that the Emissary is still the Zealot that he once was, but this could not be further from the truth.
There is a dream - The dream of a new Age of Prosper.
The first objective in which he feels is more mandatory then all others is the attempt to refine whatever is left of the Vortigaunt Species into a particular strain. The reason for this is that his greatest fear beyond even the retaliation of humanity towards his species would be an outcome that could lead to a Third Kin War.
There would no longer be any tolerance for kin that are not following the Rok’Shan’Vass ways and are not Ooz’Merian. The cultural disintegration created by the Combine and the Nihilanth has made this step mandatory.
Every newly liberated kin would be taught by his Envoys to align with the traditional ways, and eventually permit full purification of their hides to that of the Ooz’Merian. They would become yet another Vortigaunt of many who look exactly the same.
However visual identity is not mental identity.
As stated in the sixth rule of the Rok’Shan’Vass, the Emissary wishes that after liberation is completed and the kin have been fully integrated into the ways of the Rok’Shan’Vass, that they express themselves in a way that allows for furthered cultural and societal development. They may take unique names and find employment in all possible positions of the human resistance. However, the Emissary does request that his kin do not engage in front-line combat with the resistance, for they are too few and would work better in support roles in which they do not actively sacrifice their bodies to the Vortessence.
To what end you may ask?
The integration into the Human Resistance and eventually Human Governments is the second objective.
The Emissary fears another reality which may occur in a few short years or even a thousand years, for even if he prevents a Third Kin War. He may fail to prevent a war between Vortkind and Humanity. He already understands the innate behavior of humanity to fear anything beyond what they understand, and humanity barely understands vortkind. The alliance as it stands is entirely provisional and may not last beyond the removal of the Combine from Earth.
To ensure Vortkind’s Survival - He must make them understand.
He shall ensure that Humankind learns the ways of an adjusted Rok’Shan’Vass and teaches them all they need to know about their species. He will ensure that their future government structures and society can integrate Vortkind without hassle and eventually he will attempt to discover a final solution which can solve this issue permanently. A novel solution, but the only one that he can conceive without further struggle:
Humanity shall be weaved into the Vortessence
… and the new Age of Prosper can begin.
