I don't get it. I know the reasons behind it - apparently it had no other purpose than to remove the 'rainbow armbands' - but frankly, I just think it's a pointless rework that made a perfectly fine system worse.

For starters, everyone looks the same now. You have to squint to see the small 'tier one/two/three' text instead of just being able to tell, from a glance, what tier a person has. And, since everyone now looks the same tier-wise, there's just nothing special about said tiers.

Before, you could see a Tier-1 and a Tier-3 in the same space and think "The Red-Band is probably least likely to call the Cops on me." Now it's just one continuous procession, from 90 SC to 200. No uniqueness. No difference felt. You don't feel like you're supposed to keep up some kind of appearance due to your new armband - it looks the same as the previous one.

Same goes for the Loyalists. They all blend in together. Apparently, this was the intention - but for what purpose besides the 'we're going serious' checkmark, I've no clue.

Now, the no-armband thing for Tier-0's, that I can get. It means that someone can simply remove their armband to look like a regular citizen, instead of having to get a spare grey band post promotion. That's a pretty good change.

"So, what's the solution, you big whiner?"

Just revert it to the old one, really. Keep the Tier-0s band-less for the reason above. That's kinda it.

Guys guys the fucking "unique" interest in ranking up is a purple armband.... I just hope the local rebel wont recognise me on sight and cap me :)))))

I prefer a system where Tier-One and Tier-Zero have no armband, whereas Tier-Two and Tier-Three have a single "orbiter" armband (people who orbit the party). As a CCA co-lead, I feel there are no advantages to having Tier-Ones to Tier-Three be individually distinguishable, considering there aren't any tangible discrepancies in tiers to justify such. (Personal opinions here <--)

Over time, we want to lose the Tier-Two and Tier-Three armbands and keep just a single red armband (we can't remove them now because of how it'll break inventories), but excluding a possible reversal for Tier-Five and Tier-Six armbands, respectively, I don't see the yellow and orange armbands returning.

In future, the tier one to tier three armband will be known as the "red armband" or "supporter armband."

Concerning this, this is what the Tier-Four+ party system is for. Most cops don't particularly care whether someone is a Tier Two, Tier Three, or Tier One, because these tiers are a simple byproduct of someone attending workshifts, which is neither prestigious, hierarchically important, nor loyal. There weren't any benefits outside of knowing how many workshifts somebody attended in distinguishing tiers, and there weren't any particular behavioural penalties, scrutinizing, or privileges which extended beyond said tier.

There is a definite opportunity for reversal, sure, but that boils down to personal preference- for the proles do not need distinguishing, whereas the elites do.

In that case, I don't really see the point of the current armband changes.

If you want Tier-0s and Tier-1s to look the same, then just mash them together into one Tier. Same goes for Tier-2s and Tier-3s. Right now, it's the worst of both worlds - a numbered distinction which doesn't matter because everyone looks completely the same. A stand-in for an additional rework that hasn't happened.

It would've been better to keep the system as it was before the rework was ready to be made.

Well the system is being reworked again and to be honest, not sure what to do with the system as I don't think there is any point to the rainbow armbands in a society which hardly gives any fucks about the lower-tiered supporters outside of Tier 3 any beyond.

Personally I would revoke Tier 1 and 2 armbands and make them bland without an armband, only Tier 3 gets the red armband.

Tier 4-5 would be merged together as a singular tier 4 and benefits updated to match. Blue armband

Tier 6 would jump down to being a tier 5 with the white armband.

Tier 7 is being removed already and replaced by the Senator class for the new Secon reform and will in turn replace Tier 6, though its not exactly a loyalty tier as much as it is a ranking in the SeCon/Parties.

As I said above, this makes the numbered distinction pointless. Having 6-7 numbered tiers with only 3 colours is just plain weird.

This doesn't mean I'm against the rework, more-so that it should go further than just replacing armband colours. The merging idea that you outlined for Tier-4 and 5 should extend to all tiers that share a colour and have no distinctions beyond their numbers.

For example:
Tier-0 and 1 get no armband, so you can merge them into Tier-0 (Standard Class).
Tier-2 and 3 get the Red armband, so you can merge them into Tier-1 (Supporter Class).
Tier-4 and 5 get the Blue armband with a merge (as you said) and renamed to Tier-2 (Collaborator Class).
Tier-6 get the White Armband or can chill without one, renamed to Tier-3 (Priviliged Class).

This way there are 3 colours and 4 tiers (one for each, besides Tier-0s who don't get an armband) instead of the same 3 colours being delegated to 6 tiers.

ultimately, this is what we aspire to do, though there's still difficulty getting there as opposed to outright removing them, we need to fetter out their existence by limiting/ceasing their use & asking people to voluntarily dispose of them to avoid any database issues from my grasp of it.
