It’s too early for me to read this entire thread, so I’ll just say that OTA are nearly impossible to kill... so why the fuck are they always deployed? I thought they were only so beefy because they were more of an event thing now. If you’re gonna make a faction nearly unkillable, don’t make them deployed 24/7

Finally there's the chance for me to put my two cents into the case.

Honestly the whole experience, the talks, evidence and acts strongly suggest that the leads want to create the second coming of Nebulous Cloud in the Civil Protection as the system. The way units act in fear that they get OOCly/ICly punished by the all-seeing Dispatch (Disbitch) is already a good example of such considering that they might be as active as always, killing off any humanity in the roleplay and actions. People go over this wrong depiction of "black and white" mentality that it hurts the server too much. The structure of the application strongly resembles one in Nebulous - too much information, we expect perfection in your acts, hope you can read all the guides OOCly to give the answers instead of showing your common sense and the ability to roleplay, the will to learn and adapt as how serious you can take the faction. That's the purpose of the application - to see the basic knowledge that the player already has about the faction, how he can utilize the logic and acts without consulting additional, within the faction literature and give them a chance in the faction, only then to filter the units who really fuck up or not paying attention to the written material. Are we willing to give chance to common folk from all other communities or create MPF MLG Cybersport League?
Also, here's more evidence of how people feel about the MPF currently.

What also kills any initiative to try and join the force or play the server is the personal attitude, the bias that the faction leads can hold. I thought it was golden rule to judge the actions of the player only within the area the player is playing. Innocent until proven guilty inside of the community, and so the application should not hold that. I had an issue during the late July, early August period of playing in WN, when it still was Short Stories, when me, the faction lead who took the rank leader and the community memeber, who was responsible for the event, had a little, quiet argument which lead me going with my stuff and not really following the community. It happened, I think, five or six months ago, a considerably large period of time to forget and forgive. I understand if it was the staff application - you look for the people who is going to moderate the players, seeing how they do and the man, who left the place after one issue is not very trustworthy, especially at the start - I totally dig with that. The other issue is when you are not allowed into the faction, which supposed to root you with the community, where the application reviews your skills of how to read, how to act and roleplay, especially knowing how bad the situation is. Only to be told this

And then later learning about the rumor/slander within the community that people oddly believe, having the anonymous three staff members telling that one player supposedly was in other community causing issues.

(And I was not given any information later who did it nor evidence proving me being in that community).

I'm afraid we also stumble upon the case of elitarism and personal bias of the faction lead in the area, where none should be present because the faction itself is yet another hook for the community members to stay. I feel very demoralized to continue in this community because it appears that personal is much more important than the deeds done within the server currently, when the server opened and not in the limbo state. Why the Civil Leads are more open and not relying much on the past and personal interactions while the MPF lead, which is also another Civil faction does? Again, I'm sorry I have to show these logs, but I cannot remain silent about this since the issue is quite present and there are more cases of such happening with other players. The issue is rather clear.

Nah, it's not a mentality issue in my humble opinion. Including training and events that promote unit cohesion actually lets people play their characters much better because it builds bonds. Most units who want to get out and just play their characters are not really playing much of a character (many of them just stand at a hardpoint). Making experiences like training happen gives CP memories to pull on when they are bantering about with one another which makes a more lively setting.

Plus I feel making training also tangibly shows how people make /me's, if they will P2L, and so on.

Bingo, it also helps fizzle out those who're focused on trying to be a NPC rather then a character. This is why the squads back then were allowed to make banter and hold their successes over the other ones. It built this strong bond between the squads, a friendly rivalry.

The DvL watching it? He barely cared if you scored high- I learned that the hard way my first cp character attempt back then because I was actively made fun of it back then- and it was a good thing that I was because it taught me that it's more about building relationships and a story then knowing a text-book.

The next test I went through a couple weeks later? I was hand selected by a unit called 117 (That memorable that I remember the units name even after 13-14 years.)

If I didn't go through those experiences, I'd not be as good at roleplay as I am now. This is why I hold the bar for entry lower because people CAN learn if you make the system viable for them to learn in. This is why I am not crazy about the grammar of players, these are all things we can TEACH people.

Three years later, my Squad leader 117 back then died after being stabbed. The entire Civil Protection mourned this officers death and every one of us would say our fair wells to him. And the citizens? The players who're citizens, they cared too- it was a sad loss of a character for them too.

---

I want the same out-come for you guys too, but with the current state? The current trend? The sheer fact very few people seem to realize the heart of the issue that lays at the core of the Combine even with RL's- it's a really terrible sign that I am complaining about in order to avoid. It isn't because I hate cps or that I'm just full of bullshit. It's that I've real experiences to back up what I am saying and I am trying to pass these experiences on so you guys can learn from them- but I feel like you guys aren't exactly reading into what some of us are trying to tell you. Infact it feels like "Our faction is being told we're wrong- defend, excuse, deflect without any real hard thought being put into the whole array of issues.

Which is why this thread should remain open until we actually see this issue solved in my opinion.

Somthing to think about.

TODAY, the Civil Protection rounded up 4 vorts (including me) and amputated them (no PK) for, from what I could gather, speaking Vortigese, and thus conspiracy.

I'm the one who wrote what is illegal for Vortigaunts. https://willard.network/forums/threads/biotic-workforce-mandate.946/
Vortigese is something that is illegal. Punishments are not specified for certain actions, simply listed, with amputation being one of them. However, I have made it clear to the leads (or perhaps not clear enough) that amputation/death should be for extreme cases. Speaking vortigese was, in my perspective, meant to result in at most a beating for first time/rare offenses, not the death penalty for "conspiracy".

I'm not even going to chalk this up to CP being overly harsh because I was told that they were ordered by Dispatch to do this. I'm just putting this out there. It was agreed upon that the Combine (even OTA) would be hesitant to kill vorts because not only are they less numerous than citizens, but they are also inherently valuable due to their status as a living battery.

I'm going to re-iterate what I've said before-

Dispatch or whoever is making these calls must be a megalomaniac or a really big fan of the higher districts of the Hunger Games series- or perhaps he played as a Sith back on KOTR for the empire.

You're not contributing to roleplay, in fact you are harming it with this mentality. Instead of portraying the setting of the Half Life universe for vortigaunt roleplayers as a slave race- forced to live their lives as living car batteries and conduits for the Combine- you are just deleting every character you see for the tiniest of infringements. Yes it's a dystopia, but everything on Earth is a limited resource- including Vorts/Humans as they are glorified cattle. It's why re-education and George Orwell 1984/XCOM2 Speaker style speeches are made by Breen and his peers, to convince people that serving the combine and willingly giving your life to them is what's best for the species and for the individual.

Stop it. Get some help.

Edit: I've seen some people on discord claim that threads like these are just crybabies trying to shut down the Combine at every turn- It isn't. The faction discourages character development with acts like these. You NLR'd a buncha vorts for taking down a poster- congrats. NLR applies, meaning the events of the deaths of the vorts and those that led up to them cannot be remembered by the vorts when they respawn. Meaning nothing was learned by the characters- In fact it feels like an OOC punishment. Had they just beaten them to a pulp with stunsticks- atleast they'd be alive and will remember, "Don't remove poster again, or we get beaten like before or worse." which develops the mentality amongst those prisoners to remain obedient.

Rip vortibros they were cool to my unit in their housing unit

You know, I kinda just want to purge the whole staff team and just place M!NIT, Ron Goodfella, and other CMs that I'm likely forgetting as our overlords since a decent amount of CMs/GMs I have seen are incompetent.

Welp back for me to focus on military life and it's career path.

Good luck and I hope you guys could atleast take a piece of advise.

I've shot Ron a message to see if the OTA leads are willing to relax the OOC restrictions they put on their members a lot. This seems universally despised, both my actual OTA players and everyone else.

I've just came across this one, yeah the dispatcher was too harsh in this situation and will be questioned regarding it, once the player wakes up.

May I inform you that the vorts are not valuable to that extent tho. The combine have dark energy generators, they do not require vortigaunts to function.

Already fixed, the players that are not on trial anymore will be able to use LOOC.

I will try and resolve this tomorrow, mostly the stuff in the OP. For now, locked.
