Members of a newly formed alley way crew and street gang operating in the Japanese/Chinese dominated district of City Twenty-Four, the architecturally inspired City Eight of the famed Capital, District Eleven. These men are Japanese transfers, Chinese transfers, or even Korean, all those who could fall under Nihon and have fallen under it in history - this is no serious, fully-formed, fully organized Yakuza, but it is a company, a band of bastards, and no-good cheats, thugs.
Though, they long to be - some petty little series of thugs and their run-ins with law and grabs at opportunity to make money by any means but honest work, they long to be as men such as the Yamaguch-gumi were. Yakuza. Honored, atleast in media, modern samurai with code and ethics - classy criminals. Obviously, that's the romanticized part, but, it's captured young hearts.
These young men are the Chuko-Utas, and this set is the Kyoto St. Boys.
Formed by a popular Japanese Jazz and Blues Artist, one going by the name "Amai-uta", or "Sweet Song", a politically charged, depressing singer whom's lyrics touched on themes of death, depression, suicide and especially working class struggles, which appealed to the lower-class man of the Asian cities and even Asian districts of foreign cities, the singer grew an entourage surrounding the formed sub-genre of music known as "Chuko-Uta", or "Old Ballad",
Since his popularity as grown, the musical sub-genre has become less musical, more criminal,
The political themes spawning several sets of working-class gangs rallied behind it.
We watch the unfolding of this set,
The "Kyoto St. Chuko-Utas",
Their rise,
and fall.

sing a sweet song
to me, sing it kindly now,
for, i love you.
甘い歌を歌ってください
私に今、優しく歌ってください、
なぜなら、私はあなたを愛しています。
