Soviet Reclamation Front "A Federation Falls. A Union Will Rise. A Soviet Will Stand."
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The Soviet Reclamation Forces were once an incredibly strong force in the immediate aftermath of the Seven Hour War. It was initially founded by various former Soviet and Russian generals in the aftermath of the Russian Federation’s abandonment of most of Russia during the Portal Storm Crisis to create the “Moscow Dome”. During the Seven Hour War, they had quickly concluded that it would be impossible to fight the Combine and they had gone into hiding within the local population, underground bunkers and even infiltrating the Administration, letting the Russian Federation burn to the ground along with all other human forces on the planet.
They had allied with the Eastern-Sino-Indian-Confederation during the [Great Eastern Uprising] and had unfortunately expended most of their forces in the utter chaos of this conflict. The SRF by the point of 2018 has been mostly depleted - it has spent most of the last ten years dormant underground and not in an active war. Recently with rumours of the successes in City Two by "Humanity's Most Loyal Resistance" leaking into Russia, the SRF has decided to go on one grand assault on City Three with everything they have... which will decide the fate of the resistance force once and for all.
Though besides its name and symbolic relation to the Soviet Union - a great deal of their members have a great variety of reasons that are apolitical to the insurgency. Many have joined their ranks out of fear of persecution if not actively participating, or have a deep general hatred to the Combine's rule. Though it cannot be said for their more hardliner command staff - everyone is in this together in a Union of their own, whether they like it or not.
In the time frame of what appeared to be nothing short of a labourer's factory shift and only exiting to see that his nation has been conquered by a foreign entity, is the only way to explain it. For some, it was truly impossible to describe over such complexity. But, for many, it is felt across the globe that what took ten thousand years for humanity to invent the wheel and learning to control fire and electricity… ten thousand years. All it took was Seven Hours for the Combine to take it all. The conquered wander the empty streets in and out of some assigned apartment that appeared to be nothing more than a nearly empty room. Rooms containing a bed, one small cupboard and a lamp. They are forced out every day to receive packages of food that can only be described as meat mashed with bread and pastry.
But who were they to question their conquerors? For them, this was a mercy than a genocide - but even for the survivors of Moscow, they felt that they'd rather let the Nazis walk the streets than the brutality of the masked men with electric batons that have been beset upon them. The early days of the occupation were difficult. Food shortages were common, fighting was sporadic and reprisals were sure to follow. In City Three, nobody was safe as nobody could be trusted. Friends turned to foe overnight and foes became the enemy of their enemy that was their friend. It was here where the population of Russia banded together once again after the horrors of the Seven Hour War. Former Russian military, pre-war politicians and sympathisers of the old system - one that held strong with a grip of iron in most of Eastern Europe - would once again be on the path of resurgence.
"Reformation, reformation! Our time of rising has come once again!"
They chanted in the streets, waving Soviet flags before the line of the masked men. This wasn't seen as loyalty to the old Union... it was seen as sending a message. A revolutionary message. It was at this point that with one simple command from their Overseer, like how they themselves treated the captives of their brother nations... the guns opened fire. The large crowd dispersed in rampancy across Red Square, while others holding concealed weapons had shot back at the Protectorate. Soon, the crowd returned as the fire erupted between both sides and what turned into the Thousand-Man-Mob, stormed the old Kremlin NEXUS regardless of casualties. Just as things were going well for the new revolution, their conquerors slowly made their presence known as they poured out of the former seat of power. Weapons of light set ablaze or vaporised many and for those who survived this onslaught set their goals on escaping the city. The Combine didn't pursue - they watched, believing that they would never be able to face the might of their dimensional Empire.
As the dome had its foundation constructions spread around parts of Moscow by the old Russian Federation, construction would begin by their alien overlords. With a great deal of slave labour used from the pool of Moscow's citizens and automated resin foundry's, City Three would be secure so long as they could hold it. Weather patterns on the outside were becoming sporadic as the Combine terraformed the Earth. The survivors were left to die in the freezing cold as those who stayed were sure to be kept a prisoner in their own capital city, safe from the weather patterns at least. South of Moscow was a hidden bunker of former survivors... they gave shelter towards any who sought for it, and it wouldn't be long before many others joined them on this journey. Here, the "reds" entrenched using the harsh winter as their camouflage. They lived in isolation, with minor contact with the Combine as administrative instability distracted them.
Inspired by the Eastern Confederation's strike on multiple major cities, they believed they had a chance themselves to deal a decisive blow. With the Combine believing the population outside of their influence were nothing more than dying nomads, this was when they finally erupted from their hidden bunkers one year after the Seven Hour War. Moscow was facing yet another schism as internal conflict in its City Administration became obsessive over power and political intrigue. The Politburo, seizing an opportunity to use this as a means of Propaganda brought many to their cause as corruption spread throughout the capital. As the thundering sound of tanks laying in hidden hangers roared their engines to life, the Soviets began their push onto the south of the dome, supported by smaller rebellions within the city limits mounting the pressure.
Commissar Binkov was really enthusiastic, be fooled by his own sense of delusion that any hope of victory was possible. But, they still took up arms and began to unload the true might of the reborn Soviet Union. Their stockpiles of pre-war technologies had left them unimaginably well equipped, but would bullets scratch self-regenerating metal? Would they penetrate even the slightest ray of an invisible force of shielding? They could only find out, as they managed to defeat the outer defences in their first few strikes of their operation. That was simply one legion of Combine-affiliated forces, and morale was dropping just as fast as bodies were mounting on both sides. Some of them even tried to use the alien’s weapons against them; some of them actually had worked, which managed to keep the Red's chances of survival every passing day... but that was before the City received its reinforcements - it was a cry for help.
Only time will tell... until very recently, history would repeat itself given the developing situation in City Two, where the curtain on London is about to fall. But time is running out. Will they be able to secure Moscow, or will they succumb to the Combine's unlimited number of bodies and war machines?

Strengths: The Reds have the power of throwing countless bodies towards their enemies. They are not the most trained fighters, but they hold enough firepower to get the job done well enough in hand. They are a difficult opponent to deal with when the momentum is built upon a mounting offensive. Their propaganda mounts upon cities within major unrest causing an influx of supporters to arrive from around the globe.
Weaknesses: These sympathisers are at war with other resistance networks as they clash ideologically through political intrigue. This would include the pre-war Russian Federation remnants that are held in the outer limits of the Russian countryside (and other groups). As such, the Soviets are not well respected and isolated. They also buckle under pressure when on the defensive - which they are currently dealing with - which is in turn looms with disastrous consequences if not dealt with quickly.
Rank Structure: Following that of the 1900s style of the Soviet Union's military structure, it persists as follows:
Chairman / Head of State:The leading commissariat and politi-body of the entire Soviet Reclamation Front. His word is law, as his is indomitable will. He oversees every major operation involving the movement across the entire country, and more...
Head of the Leningrad Front:This individual is a key lead in ensuring the revival of the Soviet Will within the city of Saint Petersburg, formally Leningrad. He holds a great position within the Politburo. Mysteriously disappeared upon a devious act committed within the former urban region, leaving much to doubt. To this day, he is still being sought for.
Head of the Moscow Front: This individual is a key lead in ensuring the revival of the Soviet Will within the city of Moscow. He holds a great position within the Politburo. Currently fully active and well.
Head of the Siberian Front:The status of this person is alive, however much stagnation drifts upon the Siberian Frontier with the harshness of ice and cold besetting the landscape. There is a lack of communication between here and other regions.
Head of the Turkestan Frontier:The status of this individual is confirmed to be alive, yet unable to be properly located within the dense, mountainous terrains that is located around the bordering regional peninsula of Turkey and Russia.
Head of the Eastern Territories: Formally places that was once under the guise of the Soviet Union, this marshal was appointed to lead the lands that spread from Belarus, Ukraine and Poland. He has been reportedly deceased after a gruesome encounter with rival partisans. The Combine are unaware of this.
Marshals (see above): The essence of which that of the Soviet Forces are under control from, within a military perspective. The Marshal is equivalent of a colonel, to perhaps even a general. There are various marshals scattered across the Soviet Reclamation Front commanding from the armchair, or at the front lines.
Colonel:Appointed by marshals and chosen from that of the current majors in command, they ensure the will of the Politburo is spread across the Soviet Reclamation Front. A rare sight, but bestowed a great deal of power and responsibility that take the face of their Marshal. They practically define the politics at the top of the Soviet Reclamation Front beyond the marshals and can often be found in politburo meetings.
Major: Takes command of the Soviet forces on various fronts when a Colonel is not in-charge. Only a limited amount of them truly exist and their authority is nearly limitless when a colonel or marshal is not around. They are very much involved in the politics at the top of the Soviet Reclamation Front and are often the lowest rank to appear at politburo meetings.
Captain: Third tier senior commissioned officer that is in charge of a full detachment of soldiers. Takes a high level of authority on the battlefield and has an incredible amount of experience. Deals with internal faction issues and often keep higher ranks in line.
Lieutenant: First field commission that is entirely legitimized by the leading elements of the armed militia. They take the responsibility of instructing the Starshina on their objectives.
Starshina:Senior element of a Non-Commissioned Officer. These individuals are well respected even among platoon sergeants of Soviet conscripted militia. They are also highly motivational commissariats that seek to inspire those below them in order to reach their full potential.
Sergeant:First form of Non-Commissioned-Officer. They command their subordinates in full authority via one squad of conscripts.
Guard: Experienced soldiers on the battlefield with standard equipment and often lead other Streklis into the fighting. They are equivalent to a corporal.
Strekli: Standard soldier given minimal military training or equipment. They often follow as standard militiamen closely monitored by their more hierarchical peers.
Equipment: Russia is a country that is filled with pre-war arsenals that date back even well into the 1960s. It was through hidden contingency plans that if the country were to fall, a mass resistance organisation would take hold. Within the surviving elements of the Russian navy, airforce and more primarily the army, they had sent scouting parties under the cloak of night and winter to search for these hidden caches. Multitudes of armoured vehicles and fuel reserves along with heavy weapons mounting from T-series tanks and BMPs, run down MiGs and caches of explosive ordnance made the Communists a force to be reckoned with.
Divisions: These forces range themselves from small reconnaissance platoons to mechanised units comprised of infantry and barely working armoured vehicles in minority numbers. However, most of these forces are scattered which makes them vulnerable. If they were to gain enough forces in one place, then the difficulty of dislodging them would be of huge importance and concern to the Combine... which is exactly what the SRF have attempted not to do.
Medical - Before and after the war, many countries across the world had enslaved the Vortigaunt populace to their own ends. Because of a lack of medical personnel, captured Vortigaunts that were thought to be set free were re-enslaved by the Communists. These enslaved Vortigaunts are forced to serve as first-aiders due to their link with the Vortessence. However... this in turn causes dissonance within the aliens, causing some unfortunate "accidents" to occur. Medical supplies themselves however are abundant, but medical personnel such as qualified doctors or surgeons are unheard of.
Propaganda - The Politburo organises everything in relation to the propaganda sect of the reborn Soviet Union. These individuals announce public broadcasts openly across City Three through inner-city sympathisers. This in turn causes instability and unrest within the populace which is causing the fighting to slowly inch its way towards society. From pamphlets to even fake news announcements and disinformation, the tools have proven effective thus far. Their issue however is attempting to counter the Bureau of Enlightenment's methods of countering the information war in this particular effect.
Research - Research is unheard of as most of the technology coming in is from the frontline. Alien weapons or equipment often ends up back behind the lines inside their main headquarters for study and how to best utilise them to the fullest extent. However, if there was anything that the Reds are planning to fully take advantage of - it's radio communication and the ability to make a world wide broadcast. They believe that numbers will soar in recruitment if they are able to manifest this. So far, there's no luck.
Engineering - Many who ended up on the side of the reds are usually experienced labourers, tradesmen, mechanics and electricians. They know how to fully put their brains to work in the physical and practical side of the world. From establishing or renovating structures to building fortifications or repairing / manufacturing new equipment - they know it all in this sense. One of their problems however is a lack of proper building material or resources.
