"My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Aleksandr Pavlovich Yurievich was plagued by the tortuous twists and turns which mirrored the complexity of his nature. The product of a privileged upbringing, he stood as a bedevilled soul, one driven by plot and its riches━ commanded by a relentless pursuit of power; its hex beset him with anguish and ghouls alike.
There dominated a man of many facets, its charismatic force exuding both trepidation and bile, possessing the ability to charm and cow those who dither and gawk with remarkable ease.
As Priest and Judicator under the Combine's exacting reign, his singular absolutity was a testament to his skill and iniquity; there, he perched as King-Adjutant to the Shah, for he was the esteemed and formidable General Secretary, who loomed large over the political landscape, commanding respect and fear in unequal dimensions.
Consumed by fixation, he stood as the bureaucratic javelin of an all-powerful oppressor, haunted by remembrances of traumatic events and his internal machination. For all his splendour and magnificence, his anecdote is one of industry and perseverance, as well as of the dim and twisted forces that can erode even the most rugged of men; a brimming egotist, revolutionary, and machinator, he is Ultra, a parrot of the malleability and fragility of the human soul, contaminate to the obsequious domain of the Combine.
Ethnically Belarussian, he was born on September 1st, 1952, in the village of Trakai of the Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics to a doting mother and aristocratic, though drunken father of Belarussian pedigree; born during Joseph Stalin's tenure and growing up during the twilight years of Premier Nikita Khrushchev and Leonid Brezhnev, Aleksandr Pavlovich Yurievich lived a privileged life, one spurred on by the economic growth of the first three five-year plans (1928-1940), spearheaded by the Gosplan and rejuvenated under the Eastern Bloc, which led the Union's continual shift towards from an agrarian society to a more industrialized one through investments in heavy and capital-intensive industries amid the "Great Turnaround."
His father, Dmitri Spiridon Yurievich, a member of the aristocratic old guards of the Bolshevik Party in Lithuania, was an affluent and controlling individual, distinguished through a protracted career in government, the Great Patriotic War, and the public sector, something which would eventually pay off, as he netted himself several commemorations, including the Order of Lenin, and a comfortable position as head of the University of Vincas Kapsukas in Vilnius, marrying his mother in the fall of 1949. A gentle, though drunken father, Dmitri Spiridon was a devoted husband and father, though least of all patriot and hardliner, opting for a more moderate approach to governance.
Despite a childhood of aristocratic privilege provided under the guidance of his intellectual father, his late youth was troubled by his worsening temperament, which, in turn, led him down a deviant path of self-centeredness and a heightened sense of entitlement; these traits deeply affected his development later in life; this came to prevalence during his childhood after relentless attacks by his peers and contemporaries; these attacks deeply traumatized Yurievich, who turned to narcissism, socialism, and anger to cope with his predicament in his late teens.
Sent to join the Vladimir Lenin All-Union Pioneer Organization (Youth Pioneers), equivalent to the Boy Scouts, by his parents in June of 1959; it was then that Yurievich first became acquainted with Marxism-Leninism and the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, graduating at age fourteen, something he would follow up with by joining the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League (Komsomol), something which would earn him the Order of the Badge of Honour, in addition to his father's connections and patronage as head of the University of Vincas Kapsukas.Initially beginning as a budding Russian nationalist, Yurievich would gradually develop an axiom acute to Soviet Nationalism, Cosmopolitanism, and Social jingoism, galvanized by his experience in the Youth Wings of the Communist Party and superiority complex.
At age nineteen, Yurievich would apply to the University of Vincas Kapsukas under the tutelage of his father, beginning his studies in law and political sciences as he set out from Trakai to Vilnius via train to meet his father. A hard worker, Yurievich would become known for his argumentative debates and unorthodox Soviet rhetoric, earning a reputation as a diligent, problematic and narcissistic aspirant of the Communist Party, putting him at odds with many of his contemporaries, who viewed Yurievich with increasing suspicion and fear for his loyalty and connections.
At the University of Vincas Kapsukas, Yurievich became Komsomol head of his entering class, then Komsomol's Secretary for agitation and propaganda, and later tasked with monitoring students for potential subversive elements, a position he assumed actively with his introduction into the bloated fodder of the Communist Party. Consumed by ideals of greatness and a desire to succeed his father, exacerbated by his inflated ego and sociopathic behaviour born out of yearning and childhood trauma, he would often lash out violently at others for any perceived malice, his ambitions fostering a faculty of insecurity for himself which exacerbated his worsening syndromes and persecution complex, usually culminating in his fuming outbursts at those he believed belittled or disrespected his efforts.
Inevitably, this degradation would sow a rift in his relationship with his father, his temper tantrums, and his father's subsequent ostracization leading him dejected, leading to intense arguments and beratement with his father, culminating after his eventual graduation and severance with his father, moving away from his family to begin other career prospects. During this time, he met his first wife, Puzakova Sergeyevna, in 1971, divorcing later in 1974 after the marriage turned volatile. He would later marry two more times in his life, again in 1982 and again in 1993, all failing due to his abusive tendencies towards women, earning him three failed marriages, all of which were vociferously toxic and culminated in violent and erratic outbursts.
Travelling to Leningrad in 1975, owing to his continued efforts in Komsomol, political and law degree, and membership in the CPSU, Yurievich enrolled in the Committee for State Security, or KGB, at the 401st KGB school in Ohkta, Leningrad. Serving in the Fifth Chief Directorate for Censorship and Internal Security against artistic, political, and religious dissension, he served twelve years in the KGB, ascending to Lieutenant Colonel and receiving the Order of Lenin distinguishment before resigning, instead opting to pursue a career in education after his father resigned from the University of Vincas Kapsukas due to his ailing health, rejuvenating his interest in education and mending the prior rift with his father as he assumed his mantle.
Despite working diligently as a professor and member of the board, his minor escapades and toxic demeanour would culminate in his sudden dismissal three years into his employment, and his bitter frustration compounded further, leading him to grow increasingly erratic, crescendoing into a failed marriage in 1993 as a result of his anger and depression.
The collapse of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics under the tenure of Premier Gorbachev exacerbated what hate there already was; despite early accomplishments, his life was filled with bitter contempt and upward battles only, culminating in despair. Still, Yurievich would never forfeit his ideology, the Soviet passion and ingenuity engraved into his heart and soul. Despite the Union's collapse and Communism's failure, he would only reflect fondly on his origins and never with doubt.The next few years were unremarkable for Yurievich; gaining dual citizenship upon the collapse of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, he continued sequestering himself within Lithuania for some time, content to live out the remaining years with some resemblance of peace. Since its demise, Earth has never been the same, and it will only be a few years until the world is irreversibly changed.
With the advent of the portal storms and the downfall of many of Lithuania's governance and militaries, Yurievich relocated, finding safety in St. Petersburg as the portal storms wreaked havoc, leaving people to seek refuge in larger cities, as his reign of anguish came to a climatic end. The world was different; aliens roamed the street, invading the bushes and pillaging the Earth. Soon, one invader usurped another and arose the Combine's mighty empire.
Despite his initial disinterest in the Combine, he welcomed the protection they offered from foreign dangers. Time passed, and he settled. Ultimately, though his time with the Combine's Civil Administration was one of conformity and stability, his ambition would persist; with his arrival at the City Twenty-Four depot station, he was given a higher purpose and a chance for fulfillment once more.
After passing the screening and interview process, he would join the Combine Civil Administration as one of their begrudging enforcers, an office that allowed him to exercise his cunning, manipulative tactics again, his sociopathic tendencies finally finding a place in his new surroundings endorsed by the regime.Beginning work as a field agent operative of the Bureau of Criminal Intelligence, precursor to the Office of Security & Intelligence, owing to his prior career in the KGB, Yurievich would serve as an operative of the Department of Clandestine Services, dedicated to counterintelligence and espionage, serving with distinguishment.
Following his escapades in the Bureau of Criminal Intelligence, Yurievich would assume work as titular lead of the Regulatory Committee of the Security Council, tasked with internal investigations and auditing of the Collaborators' Party, in addition to an unsuccessful bid at District Administrator, eventually ascending after some time to the newly-created office of the General Secretary, formed on Yurievich's advice.
In the time between then, his turbulent life would be marred by an escalation of xenophobia, zealotry, and chauvinism intermixed with his own ideological beliefs pre-war towards the Combine, Breen personally, and the city; so far, it is unclear how his story will unfold, but can speculate, seeing his troubled origins, that Yurievich and that of his life is one of drive, resilience, and determination; a man whose ambition far exceeds his talents and gaze, and whose wretched personality allows him and many others to facilitate countless atrocities in the name of a higher calling right under his doorstep. He is a man who will claim it all or will fail trying.
