Thinking about buying the galunga donation

If you are looking to support the server and desire a good bit of inventory space for your character with a personal container and a few whitelists from birds, headcrabs and other custom creatures - then yes I'd say it's worth it.
 
If you don't desire any extra storage space then a tier down to protector is also fine, I used that for a while myself, galanga prince is a nice donation rank but most players don't need the two extra containers unless you're planning on being a rebel since store owners can easily buy containers and any other faction usually have their own storage areas for their workers.

Otherwise it's a really nice way to support the server.

It's not about it's worth, you will get extra storage as a thank you, but "donations" are in fact donations, you purchase donor packs to support the server, if they were about items then we wouldn't call them donations but extension pack or something else.
