The reason you were banned?: Evidence found of metagaming/metabaiting. To elaborate, I posted screenshots of my rebs data profile in my rebel discord using a PDA on a different char.
Why do you wish to be unbanned?: To start and to clarify. I'm not banned, this occurred back in 2021. What I wish to gain from this appeal is the clearing of my name from the events that transpired all those years ago. Even if the decision is not appealed, opinions about my ban will ever so slightly shift, I think to the better. It's quite a stain on my reputation and that's something I take seriously.
We need some backstory for this about the Dutchman rebel group.
I had spent a month fighting and investigating a IC investigation on my rebel character OOCly. From the start, I knew the investigation smelled funny and by the end of it, I knew 100% something was amiss. Throughout it, I spoke with Robert, and he told me everything was legit on the other party's end. Not one ounce of foul play supposedly. I knew this could not be the case for a plethora of reasons which I explained to him. Even then he said the same, that it was all valid.
I'm under the opinion that Robert simply had his mind set on the fact the group was fucked, and that nothing could prevent that. As an outcome, I don't think he looked into it as much as he said he did or simply did not listen to what I was telling him in the first place. Perhaps a mix of the two and more.
Ultimately I was told the "Burden of proof is on you to prove otherwise" by a CM. I knew this was going to be the case even before I was told this. From prior experience on the server I've seen others have the same situation, not to mention my dissatisfaction from already had conversations to this point.
As I am not staff, my tools were limited to what I had experienced firsthand, discord logs, the experience of my fellow rebel group members, and finally my CP whitelist to look up data files. So as a group, we complied all the information we had to make a case that we were being metagamed and targeted OOCly, reviewing in our Discord. We were doing this before the conclusion of the investigation in an attempt to stop it. Only minor damage was done before my PK. Nothing that could not be reverted easily. But we knew if it went on at some point it would have been a mess to clean up and even impossible in some aspects. No one in my group used this information to meta or bait anyone. This was done to protect ourselves from what we believed to be meta vs ourselves. If someone had done so then they would of first of all gotten in trouble with me or Robert. Robert was a CM at the time and oversaw all of this with no issue, we ALL knew that this was not to be abused. To add to this, no one in our group was ever in trouble for said information posted, other than me that is.
The exact "evidence" of my supposed "metagame" is a set of highly edited screenshots of OOC logs, mostly Discord. It mostly highlighted a post to our Discord that I had made speaking about my PK after another member had asked me about it and would go on to ask if anyone else was set BOL. I would respond with "no". The context missing in the report made to staff is that was rather irregular that only I would be set BOL. I had the least open rebel of the group, acting as a front. The fact that no one in our group was also marked BOL confused us OOCly as it made little sense for that to be the case with how our operation was set up. We discussed the topic of possible meta vs us like we did everything else about the investigation. No different from anything else posted by anyone else. I would even send the same image to Robert and discuss its context with him to get his opinion about my PK. Furthermore, the evidence that supposedly showed my rule break was gathered by a player. Instead of going to the forums and making a ban request, it was done via back channels in Discord DMs. It blatantly bypasses the ban request rules that were set forward at the time and is highly modified/edited.
To bring the rule lawyer within me out, unless I somehow used this information to gain an advantage it's not metagaming. I couldn't have done so, even if I wanted to. My rebel was already PKed and this was me gathering information to make a PK appeal after the fact. I've not seen any proof of any actual action I supposedly took using said information to my advantage. I can assure you I never did. Sure, you could make an argument that I may have subconsciously used the information I gained, but you could make that for anyone who has more than one character, is staff, or has read the Civil Protection code lists. I'm sure every staff member back then at some point noclipped into our base and looked at all our shit.
Simply because you have additional information and are in a position to metagame does not mean you are. (In this case, I wasn't in a position to do so)
That leaves the baiting side of things. First of all, I was asked about it, not posting it randomly, not to mention we were posting everything concerning this affair anyway. I had no intent for anyone to use said information for an IC advantage, I think that's proven after I explained the situation. I don't even know how anyone could use that information to meta as it's going over something they are not even in a position to abuse.
Anything else in the three images submitted to staff I believe is covered from everything above.
The crux of the issue is essentially can you accept the fact that I used my Officer to gain evidence OOCly. While I think the above statements would justify it alone, some may still be hardened as a firm no. To them, I say this. I've posted a confession from both Robert and Starless below. I got Roberts back in 2022 from someone else and I asked Starless about it a few days ago. I see this as the ultimate justification behind us collecting information OOCly. It also means that our rebel group died, losing hundreds, if not a thousand hours spent for nothing. But I'm not here for that. Again, I'm here to clear my name for doing what I did. Was it even a rule brake to begin with? Do you think I was justified?
What do I supposedly gain from my metagame, can anyone tell me? My group was dispanded, dead or fled, base gone, business gone, time wasted with no RP, WL gone, and reputation tarnished. Who was the victim of my supposed crime?
Why did I not make this app back then when it was fresh?
Back then when I was originally banned I reached my breaking point, I'd lost my motivation to continue. It was only 3 days before that point I had lost all my characters at once on the server. There was more to it but I think you can get the idea.
