How long is the ban for?: For quite a long time actually. An entire week if i so understood it correctly? Especially the circumstances given.

The reason you were banned?: LTARP i think.

Why do you wish to be unbanned?: Well, i don't find the understandment of wrong that i contributed to specificly recived the ban that i got. From what i know, it looked like an OTA encounter. Unclear if they came down there to fix cams, examine, or just sweep for the fun of it. Either way, my Vortigaunt character encountered a squad of OTA. The situation played out like normal. I ran for my life like anyone else would and i manage to shake them off in a little cross-seaction at which point i dipped into a small underwater ventilation shaft. There after i went into a very isolated spot to camp out rest of the situation incase they were still hot on my trail. At which point they weren't. And for them to find me, they would have to literally take the 10min walk around the entire sewers.

Basically, i sat there, relaxed for a couple of mins, waited to see if any admins had anything to say in /looc or send me a /pm. And to my view the coast was clear and the encounter was over. I took the necessary precautions to wait and literally type out this: "[LOOC] Ta'Dehaka: Been evading ota for a few min now... Brb"

Pretty sure i contacted admins in the past about situations like these and there was no problem. If i was truly LTARP'ing then i would have instantly left as soon as OTA spotted me and i spotted them, therefor resulting in avoiding RP. But the fact that both parties had the time to react along with me managing to shake them off and hide. I literally took the necessary precautions of making sure everything was fine before i left. The situation was over? There was nothing to avoid? Even if you wanted me to stay for another min or so then say so. Or send over a dm saying "Hey trap, hope on for another min or two". Or am i missing something here?

RULE 9

No leaving the server or switching characters to avoid a roleplay scenario.

1. You must give Civil Protection and Dispatch at least 15 minutes before leaving. If dispatch marks you as AC and you hear its dispatch announce about Anti citizens, you may not leave for an additional 10 minutes. This gives time for CPs to sweep the entire area for you.

You broke the rules, clear as day. You didn't wait the requires fifteen minutes. You saw OTA (engaged in RP with them upon allowing them to spot you), ran away, hid, then logged off. I don't really have anything else to add to this. You violated our rules and refused to engage with the OTA players in good faith. We even waited ten minutes for you to log back into the server, so we could tell the OTA to continue their sweep. We had people go so far as to DM you on discord, and you didn't re-appear. For your violation of the terms outlined in our rulebook, you've been punished.

This simply isn't true. The rule in regards to avoiding roleplay exists for a reason. You knew that the OTA were looking for you, because they saw you. There cannot have been a doubt in your mind that they were interested in re-capturing you. However, you still chose to log off. I'll also add, that I believe staff members contacted you about logging back onto the server, and you didn't.

So basically the Overwatch sweep was heavily designated for one person: You. I did not have anything to do with the sweep but merely observed its actions. As it was the biotic that freely escaped, Overwatch and staff awaited for you to come on the server to initiate a shadow sweep to bring you back into the fold (staff are always to oversee these properly). They ran into you and gave chase almost immediately seeing you.

The sweep had to be halted as you left the server, as they were still hunting for you and therefore it was cancelled. Ruffian was given instructions from myself because at the time we felt this was very disingenuous. Those couple of minutes you did successfully hide after giving them the slip, though the problem currently is that everyone awaited for you to return, which you did not do at all after a period of fifteen / twenty minutes. You were banned from the server for that reason.

Further clarification is always necessary because we do not know the situation unfolding as to why you disconnected, even if you thought you were safe for "just a few minutes". On Discord it's registered that you were also offline and a fair handful of involved staff believed it was to leave to avoid in-character consequence. Either way, this is still leaving to avoid roleplay, as you know they were still out there and failed to return within the given timestamp. We still don't know why you left which the appeal still hasn't told us.

Unfortunately, as the Overwatch were typing, you ran away as they were performing /mes. There was no reaction time and... well everyone witnessed that.

The only way I see the ban being reversed is if you present evidence that you were unable to continue roleplay at the time. As far as the staff team is aware, you were on for almost an hour before the Sweep took place, then inexplicably logged off with almost zero communication. Rule 9 also states that if you have to leave the server, you need to contact the server admins. You did not do this.

As i think most of us can see, the intentions wasn't to avoid the situation. Everything played out quite nicely if i can say so myself, I took the necessary precautions to wait, see how everything was doing. The escape was played out well and i didn't have a second thought about it. I didn't know you guys were actually hunting me hah, as i've really tried hard to stay away from the cams. I think we all can agree the moral thing that i did was good. I had good intentions in mind and perhaps i could have stayed on a couple of min longer as i haven't fully taken in every single detail stated in the guidelines and every single minute. I just know that you have to wait before heading off which i did.

The clock was 23:30 i believe here in sweden. I usally step down and start to relax a little. Ready myself to hope in bed. Therefor i was just chillin' by picking up some slavage. The sweep kind off came in a bad timing and let me admit, that scared the shit out of me. I don't think i've ever had such a panic attack. Either way, i wanted to brb after brushing my teeth to see if you guys had smacked my farming research down there before eventually hoping off. If i brushed my teeth a min earlier i'll probably would have been online before the ban-hammer.

I'm a good man, i contribute to RP. I've kept myself clean so far. And the moral thing i had in mind was good. And my apologies, perhaps i could have stayed on another min or so longer. And ngl, i enjoyed it. Perhaps we can strike this over a line and give me a verbal warning to let me oversee the rules in a bit more in-depth so i know how long i can wait before swithing off. And if we do so, then feel free to actually do that again, but another time maybe xD when i won't expect it.

You know. At the end of the day, mistakes happen. The situation itself was completely fine by me. OTA used binds and i ran without a /me. When i first saw that OTA, i don't think i have ever had such a flow of adrenaline going through my veins in a long time. Espeically at 23:30. The only thing going through my head was "Escape, escape escape" and i think we all would have done the same thing if we were in quite the same pickle as i was.

Generally speaking, we all did great. Both parties encountered each other, we both had our chances, and i simply manage to escape. Especially seeing the odds stacked against me in that video. Perhaps i could have stayed a little longer and i apologies for that. I didn't know the sweep was actually re-directed against me. I didn't know the exact details of how long i should have stayed before"brb'ing" i just knew that i "had to wait". I simply just waited until it felt resonable enough that i had now escaped before "brb'ing". I'm not making any direct statements, but seeing how OTA was positioned and quite confused about my suddent disappearment, i don't think they would have found me for the past 10-20min.

I'm not using that as an excuse, i'm just clipping it all together. The sweep couldn't have happened at a worse time aswell. Especially for a Swedish person. At the end of the day, it would have been a much different story if i left as soon as i spotted the OTA. But the fact that everything went as it should and i did manage to escape. ALong with providing those extra precautions. It all sums down to those factors combined along with a sprinke of kindness, i don't think i should be banned for an entire week because i missed to waited a couple of more mins before "brb'ing". And i never recived any dms or messages on discord either. Look, it all just ended up wrong for me, and i hope i've manage to reach out to ya'll and put yourself in my shoes. I apologies for that, i'll oversee the excat amount min's needed next time and slap me with a verbal warning.

I understand there were a lot of factors at work here, and I'm hesitant to uphold the ban just on the basis that you seem like a nice guy.

Unfortunately, we have rules in place for a reason. When you broke those rules, you damaged the integrity of our roleplay environment and robbed a good amount of players out of a rewarding experience. This simply isn't acceptable, and the ban is going to be upheld (with an exception). The next time you need to leave in the middle of high-stakes roleplay, you have to call an administrator and explain the situation. That way we could have worked something out that preserved the roleplay environment.

However, in light of the moving appeal, I'm going to lessen the ban to end on Thursday. Hopefully this reduction isn't seen as a crippled consequence, but a result of my own sympathy for your situation. You definitely broke the rules and you definitely deserved the ban, however I want you to be able to learn from your mistakes and come back and enjoy the weekend with all your friends on the server.
