I stopped in the middle of the road, a dreary one-lane cobblestone avenue with broken buildings lining either side, to stare at a tricycle. It sat upright on all it's wheels as though the child was just called inside for dinner. I can remember warm afternoons and even warmer smiles, circling the neighborhood in a careless glee that only a child could truly feel. Scraped knees and loving parents ready to mend my ailments.

An abrupt burst of vocoder static brought me back to the present. I snapped my head towards my cohort and even though I could not see his face behind that soulless mask I knew his brow must have been knit with concern.
<::"Are you okay?"::> He said, clasping his hand firmly on my shoulder.
<::"Yeah..."::> Was all I could plainly say as my gaze shifted back towards the tricycle.

<::"It's just a tricycle, 19. Let's go."::>

Yeah. Just a tricycle.

A relic of a dead world.
