HALF LIFE DIDN'T GO FAR ENOUGH.

1760566259649.png

First of all I'd like to apologise for the map issues. Clearly, the map required a very arbitrary and seemingly uncertain amount of content from Half Life: Source. I assumed this was added into GMOD with the other Half Life games. Apparently that was not the case.

So we had to skip on a death run with a GRIX war machine, which would have been pretty... well... insane. BUT we kind of got that in the end with the pyramid laser.

Things that went wrong:

- The Advisor's allahu ackbar somehow killing everyone as it died and went past bleedout godmode (lmao).
- Xen being missing textures (LMAO)
- 5 million gullotine deaths with people being healed / respawned just to be hit again (LMFAO)
- Flatgrass. (ROFLMFAO)

Everything else went correct - I hope and assume. Sorry for those inconveniences above.
Hope you had a stellar time, that's all I care about.

YOU DECIDED TO SIDE WITH NEITHER FORCES... THIS WAS THE CORRECT DECISION.

YOU MET THE MONK (GRAND ELDER).

YOU SURVIVED THE DEATH RUN WITHIN XEN...

because Xen had its materials turned to pink and purple. So we skipped that part, OK?
(you ended up getting it at the end which was probably 100x better anyway.)

YOU DID NOT DESECRATE THE TOMB OF CHIZRA ON THE FORGOTTEN WORLD.

YOU OBTAINED THE THIRD SIGIL STONE.

PENULTIMATE GOOD ENDING.

404: SANITY NOT FOUND.

WE THE GRIX DEMAND YOUR REVIEW OF THIS EVENT CHAIN.
Thank you. x)

Absolute fire event, Nice use of custom sounds etc to add atmosphere and Realism. Crafted well with most being able to experience it in one way or another. Vort or Human. Probably one of my favorites of all time.

Best part of the event right here

Jk, all of it was. So far, with the temple type of deal. All of it was dope, soundtrack wise and the other sounds.

The usage of the ambient sounds for the last bit in the wastes was genuinely fire, and added to the fact that it actually freaked me the hell out.

Absolutely loved it; despite all the hiccups. Well-crafted scenery, the areas we've visited truly felt like we weren't allowed to be there, gave a feeling similar to when you trespass.

Fighting the advisor and seeing people get fucking nuked was fun, I really wish we got to go through the gauntlet of escaping the Combine and the Grix all at once, but nonetheless, the alternative you cooked up was nice too.

The USA part confused me; but we don't need to understand everything and that's alright, the feeling of being constantly mentally bombarded by the Darkness and having it stand over my character was such an eerie and chaotic feeling.

Can't wait to see what comes next in Miasma.

9/10 (would have been 10 if the map had worked albeit, that's Valve's fault)

I know peak when I attend one.
From the eerie feeling of a damaged combine structure all the way to the chaotic escape from the pyramid, I was having hell of a time.

Had a lot of interactions with characters I'd never have the chance to meet on main and enjoyed each and every one of them.

It's kind of a shame we weren't able to enjoy one of the maps and that I started timing out and couldn't load the 4th at all, which bothers me because I wasnt able to see the last bit.

Overall thoughts?
Fucking peak, possibly the 2nd best event I attended on eillard ever.
10/10

Great job, RAD-X

i personally enjoyed it despite not having had interacted with the bigger elements of the story, having had just done either my own thing or rped with civs / webuls. the first map could've gone better, it was a grief having to navigate through like 20 people on a tight ass corridor where one step means you fall off, and half the map not working was sad.

nonetheless, i enjoyed it. my favorite part was the last, randomly appearing in a destroyed city with no idea where we were and separated into smaller groups was cool and i hope that future expeditions build on that concept. imo, knowing where we are on earth but not where and not when was better horror than the supernatural grix stuff.

Peak, combine and rebels working together always is an interesting idea [please don't overdo this however, it's nice for an event series like this but if its done constantly it will get stale]

I think it works very well in this case because it stops becoming a topic of 'us vs them' and the existence of these grander entities allows for those rivalries to fade away, I liked how the cops handled the decision-making process on equal-terms, rebel, Civpro or CCA, they were in this together. I couldn't see something like that ever working on more 'grounded' events so-to-speak purely because it'll turn into a snitching game, or worse
