Turn off bleedout godmode for overwatch.

As of now it is near impossible to execute an overwatch soldier in a fight without taking out the entire squad first or running into their line to drag a downed one out to finish them.

Meanwhile, OTA are able to revive themselves with meds they applied to themselves a minute prior and repair their 100 armor for an instant +100 HP on top of being literally invincible when they drop to the floor.

As of now, the only way to secure the kill on an OTA is to risk yourself to drag them somewhere and execute them and pray the GM nearby isn’t combine biased or to wipe the whole squad before they get back up.

OTA are Not characters, and as gr4ss said, throwaways should not harm developed characters. So give rebels a chance to actually finish OTA off if you’re gonna let them get back up after being downed.

And Robert, at least let people retort before u lock the thread this time ok?

proof of ota reviving themselves and returning to combat while rebels follow the no return to combat rule 💀

Yeah. I agree that OTA should either also follow the rule to not return to combat, or simply be allowed to be killed. one of those, as there is no rule in the rule section that says OTA can do it and other people can not.

turn it off for everyone
not everyone is allowed to not follow the rule specified above... Only OTA... Why do we make distinctions on OTA with that, and we can't with the bleedout inmortality?

OTA get curbstomped daily at this point
They also do not need to medrp as they are mindless combine drones

So you're telling me that because OTA do it it's bad? But when rebels do it, nobody complains? That seems a bit sus tbh. Mostly because i've seen rebels during combat, the moment they go down then get revived, they are almost instantly back in the fight after a "/me replaces" plates after they're healed. Maybe that should go both ways. I dunno.

PS. Yeah. OTA Are event characters, with little to no development (outside people who've ICLY Been OTA'd but they're usually grunts) But the rule should be enforced for all parties, not just OTA. The first step to balancing is enforcing equal rules on both sides of the conflict parties.

rebels can't do it, and they get warned for doing so.

you usually aren't able to continue your character's arc when transhumanized.

Thats actually true, they get warned for it when its caught. Otherwise it's not warned, nobody fesses up to it because nobody has the balls to admit they're wrong on the internet or a gmod server. But then again, i've seen this several times, myself taking part in this a couple of times which i have reached out in the past to apologize to rebels and OTA alike, when it does happen. However i was NEVER warned for this kind of behaviour, ever. Even with GM's overseeing the situation. There was 4 GM's watching the situation at the boat yesterday, myself included actually because i was super interested in watching the OTA perform. And i saw ZERO warns. For both OTA and Rebels but both sides did it.

As I said in my previous post. The first step to balancing is enforcing rules for both sides of the conflict.

As for the whole transhumanized thing. That makes a lot of sense.

The purpose of bleedout godmode was to prevent people from being randomly double tapped and being PK’d without a proper end. OTA are Not characters and therefore it’s moot to have them have this protection when they can get back up in the same firefight. Rebels and cops are disallowed from getting back up and immediately fighting again, so you can safely leave them bleeding on the floor without executing them immediately.

But when it comes to OTA, it’s often that the chaos of a fight makes it so a GM is unlikely to slay one that should be dead. Therefore rebels should just be able to shoot them to death, and be punished for not securing the kill via the OTA simply getting back up from the health vial they used on themself 2 minutes ago.

Them being able to get back up in the same fight (even tho this isn’t even an official rule, just a thing they started allowing) would be far less overpowered if you could just shoot them without praying that a GM will pay attention and slay them.

With bleedout godmode on and the ability to rejoin the fight, it makes it so OTA can artificially extend and even win fights despite the entire squad having been shot into a bleedout state several times, meanwhile rebels will permanently lose manpower for the whole fight if even 1 of them drops.

It's a bug, seems more complicated to change the entire system than to fix one bug.

Terrible mindset to have, the GMs aren't siding with anyone, especially combine.

I assume gr4ss is referring to characters made within the hour that try to attack and try to kill developed characters, not OTA.

This bug fixing be taking a while then…

No one is free of bias. Maybe the GMs less so than staff, but you can’t argue that it’s not strange GMs Will go through the trouble to physgun a rebel into a corner and freeze them when they get back up but watch a soldier die and get back up 4 times and not bring up ‘yeah they should be dead / incapable to fight at this point’

Not to mention the nonstop spawning of unkillable Airwatch NPCs any time rebels dare fight outside of the cave (or do much of anything)

That was more of a jab than an actual point. But yes these characters are made with the sole purpose to attack and kill developed characters, only worse because u can’t PK em 😭

OTA (and the Combine factions at large) also gets a lot of rules placed on them on what they can and cannot do - and I have yelled at them plenty of times in the past for going outside of those rules during deployments. I do not think rebels would be happy if the gloves came off in return for OTA needing to be actual characters and take PKs on death.

Okay, second post on this topic and hoping an admin doesn't suddenly drop 5 arbitrary and completely kaput paragraphs and then close it.
Now that it's all flipped on its head. 11 OTA and a gunship vs 6 rebels.
Rebels tried to hide and not engage.
Rebels tried to fight outside of the cave and died.
Oh and, lest we forget. OTA Lead read the "Deployment Suggestions" and completely ignored them.

From what I've seen some staff don't even know that this rule exists when it has been stated otherwise many times. Many deaths have almost or have come because of this rule which was made back in city 8 to give both cops and rebels a fighting chance in engagements where one side or the other could infinitely get back up and re-enter the fight. And for some reason till today OTA have been able to ignore this rule because they are outnumbered or something. (ignoring the fact they can send 3 waves anyway)

I’ll assume you’re talking about deployment guidelines and say that leads will quite literally ignore them whenever they feel like it. This has been done since Ron and Dark were the OTA leads. They can easily get things like this authed (assuming they even need to talk to server council or whatever to begin with to just send everything they have at rebels) because they’re friends with said server council and will be taken at their word. This has happened many times. (See: Dozen OTA w/ EOW and specials to bomb 5 rebel locations in 1 sweep)

And a random side note, but OTA have pretty much taken any hope of fun from civil protection. When CPs get a ping to flag on for something, they’d rather not because they know it’s just gonna consist of searching and herding loyalists into buildings whilst OTA flag on to their event characters to have all the fun.

Which has nothing to do with the argument but I felt like saying it

Just made a thread for it.

If you manage to capture an OTA and do an execute bind, present GM's don't ignore you because they're "combine biased", more times than not they're just busy. If GM's are freezing players then I don't know what to say, I doubt they're doing it out spite anyway.

Sorry but my S10/ORD.REBEL_DESTROYER-37 is made for this, pull up

Exactly why they should just turn off godmode for OTA. Whilst GMs are ‘busy’, the OTA is completely free to get up via a morphine he took before he died and get up and PK the rebels and it would be called a fair death. Meanwhile if the same were to happen with a rebel getting up and shooting a cop to death, the rebel would get banned

Bleedout godmode only exists so you don’t get PK’d via a random double tap in a fight and lose your character in a super unsatisfactory way, so it’s pointless and even detrimental to allow OTA to have it.

No, this should go both ways, if you suspect an OTA to be abusing this bug let a member of staff know. I never knew this bug existed until you mentioned it in this post.

bro

no one cares if OTA "abused" this bug just remove the bleedout immunity for them that's what the post is about

How can they even intentionally abuse this bug. All it takes is trying to heal yourself and happening to get knocked into bleedout. What can you do
