This actually is more simple than the title suggests. There are two suggestions however in this:
First, allowing unarmed combat:
Right now, there is a SWEP on the server for fists. It is currently not in use, despite being fully operational, at leach script wise through TBC. Implement a method of allowing any character to use this SWEP. I figure that a command would be most useful. If used on a person at close distance (punching distance), it immediately tags them in into a combat scenario and gives all players in combat the fist SWEP. This can be further expanded to, if ANYONE is dragged into combat, regardless of the weapon they have, they get a fist option so they can switch to it.
When combat is over, simply get rid of the SWEP.
An alternative method is just giving characters the SWEP right off the bat, though this may cause minging among players. Perhaps after a certain amount of hours, they get the SWEP, so new players can't just get it- and the command can still be used before those hours are up to allow for fists.
Second, have other unarmed "weapons":
What I mean is a method for other types of beings to have different types of "hands". A zombie's claws are going to hurt a lot more than a citizen's fists. A vortigaunt's claws are also a danger of their own. Antlions, etc. These can correlate with whatever model it is on, so zombies can actually swing their claws, and vorts can actually swing, etc.
Even so, it doesn't have to be specific to each NPC. A zombie, fast zombie, poison zombie, and zombine all have different strengths, but in the end they all just have same claws. So only one claw swep is needed, and GMs utilizing those zombies can just set the melee stat accordingly. Effectively, all we really need is:
- Human Fists
- Zombie Claws
- Vortigaunt Claws
- Antlion Spikes
All of this allows for the opportunity of all players to participate in TBC, instead of having to wonder if someone has the melee weapon or gun to use in combat.
