Welcome to Willard Networks!
(General Community Rules)
Willards 3 Core Values
Behavioural Maturity - We expect a level of maturity from all our members. This means everyone should be respectful of others, not go out of their way to flame, instigate drama or spam chats. A friendly environment is what we strive for, one devoid of toxicity.
Ideological Mentalities - While we understand many members may have differing views of ideology, politics, religions, etc; we ask you do not share them openly as many feel uncomfortable around such topics and personal views may cause unnecessary upset and drama. In other words, please keep such topics to private chats and DMs outside of Willard.
Freedom of Roleplay - We want all our players (including event and staff members) to have as much creative freedom as possible while maintaining a base level of quality control. You decide your own backstory, development and direction. We expect you to use this freedom responsibly and not abuse it at the cost of other players' experience. We grant freedoms so you can contribute to the overall roleplay of the server in a positive way.

Section 1) General Ruleset
| 1A - Community Stability. -- Treat everyone with respect, as outlined in our Core Values. Trolling, Flaming or instigating drama is disallowed. ---- Administrator decisions are final. You can seek out another Staff's opinion if you feel it may not be the right outcome inline with server policy. ------ Always act in Good Faith. Respect other players' Roleplay and enjoyment. -- Remember: Everyone is playing a character, not themselves. Do not take in-character actions personally. 1B - Unfair Play -- We don't accept any form of cheating or exploitation of bugs/glitches to gain an advantage of any type. ---- Please do not use unintended bugs or game mechanics, nor third-party software nor modifications. -- Do not take OOC advantage of a timed-out/disconnected player. 1C - Roleplay Quality and Engagement -- Roleplay should contribute to the server's story and atmosphere. Aim for immersive and believable interactions. ---- Avoid stalling, going AFK, or disconnecting during active roleplay situations. ------ Use your freedom of roleplay responsibly - your creativity should add to others' experience, not diminish it. -- Keep OOC chatter to a minimum in active RP unless absolutely necessary. 1D - Gameplay and Player Engagement -- Characters, Groups, custom Factions should be realistic within the setting of Half-Life. ---- Avoid resembling or mimicking the names of famous persons' or other media. ---- Characters should have physical / visual descriptions, be aged no less than 18 and backstory and personality should match your character's behavior. -- Roleplay is about cooperation with other players. You should be fair to others and their style of roleplay. ---- Please refrain from lowering your Roleplay standards while in a losing situation (Refer to 1C) ------ To preserve player engagement, we ask that you have a PK Auth to snitch on another character, and must only target the individual involved. As a side note to our Generalized Rulesets. Please note that the act of "Erotic Roleplay" is strictly forbidden. Whether it be in RP or Art/Visual form. Inferring sexual content is something most would rather avoid. |
Section 2) Fairplay
NOTE: Fail-Roleplay constitutes player activity deemed unfit to the server or the Community and/or to the setting of Half-Life 2. It also comes into play when performing actions which otherwise circumvent/bypass the intended Gameplay mechanics. 2A - Roleplay Fairness-- We ask all everyone to engage in Fairplay and to not Play to Win. ---- Firstly, it should be noted there is 2 forms of "Meta". Both of which are heavily disallowed due to how unfair it is on others. -- Metagaming: The act of using OOC info to your advantage In-Character OR relaying/leaking IC info into an OOC space like Discord or Steam. -- Metabait: The act of placing IC info into an OOC chat in order to attempt to bait someone into metagaming. ------ Secondly, you should not powergame your way through situations in an attempt to Win. -- Powergaming: The act of forcing an action onto a Character without the consent of the other player, or performing an act not possible in Real Life. ---- All actions you take that another character can act upon or notice must be roleplayed. E.g. someone has agreed to a search, then you must /me your attempts to search and take away items from their inventory. -- A roll to determine the success of your actions must be performed after doing the /me or in response to the other side's roll. 2B - Fail-RP & Realism -- You should play your character in a way that is Realistic, showing a degree of fear in certain scenarios. (E.g. Looting during a fight is considered both Fail-RP and Powergaming.) ---- Most actions such as looting requires a form of RP, even if simplified to a degree. ------ Running away while a character is attempting to interact with you without waiting for them to finish their action is considered Fail-RP. 2C - Roleplay in Comfort We ask that our players do not engage in the use of racial, homophobic or knowingly offensive slurs for any reason or purpose on the Forums, Discord or Server. These platforms are public community spaces, respect comes first and foremost. One thing you should consider when roleplaying is "Is the other user comfortable with the ongoing Roleplay?" when it comes to anything along the lines of: Torture, Cannibalism, Dismemberment and anything that may cause some discomfort. |
Section 3) Server Combat - Fair Fights
| 3A - General Combat Information -- Combat defaults to Shoot to Roleplay in any encounter where RP Conditions are present, initiated within /me range or begun with Melee or a surprise attack. ---- We do allow players to escalate to S2K, only if all parties involved agree. The only time S2K is default is when a long range fight was initiated. (Distance too large for RP to be engaged & gap cannot be closed) -- HOWEVER, if you enter /me range and your engagement is less than 8 players, then by agreement, the fight will return to S2RP. ------ Due to the default of S2RP, any fights meeting S2RP criteria will require a /me to initiate. Long-Range fights do not. -- A response /me per Section 2, 2A is required in S2RP. -- Do not shoot at any player while they are "Performing" during S2RP, let them finish first. Note: Randomly attacking a player is considered "Random Deathmatch" otherwise known as RDM. You must have a reason for your attack. 3B - Respecting the Fight -- In order to kill or search someone in a Bleedout state, you must roleplay the action. Lazy RP or doing it during a active fight can fall under FailRP. ---- You may not use /charsearch on any member of the Overwatch when they are downed without Staff approval. Same with Civil Protection Suits, these cannot be removed when a unit is downed. ------ Repairing your gear should only be done when your character is safe from active harm. E.g. hiding a a room with no enemies. -- Though in Combat, you may use basic medical supplies such as Field Meds. (Items will let you know if its a field med) -------- Never use Rockets, missiles and shells against players. These should be used against buildings, vehicles and fortified positions. Players caught in the blast radius will be fairplay. |
Section 4) Criminal Activity
| NOTE: After committing a crime, we ask you do not log off until a provided "Crime Timer" is notified to be over. This can range from 5-60 minutes depending, so always make sure to give yourself enough time based on your crime. 4A - The Basics -- We allow you to mug any character for up to 500 credits or items up to equal value, even for personal greed. -- You may not mug the same person twice in a row, nor within 2 weeks of the last. ---- You are free to raid anything for any reason, though may only raid 1 time every 4 weeks and must inform staff. ------ Combine forces on the other hand, must gain appropriate IC information/knowledge pertaining to a base prior to raiding and should be in Good Faith. 4B - Sweeps & Bases -- During a Sweep, Combine are free to enter any base, but may not touch anything insideexcept for the criminals hiding in them or anything actively being used by a player within. - Exception to the above is if a base is Hidden (Meaning the entrance is obscure and unclear) ---- During a raid, Combine can take or destroy any item, workbench or container located within a base. --- Overseeing Staff will take raided containers to the Nexus with a new password just in case of an appeal 4C - Scaling, Balance and Fairness -- Crimes in non-surveilled areas (Slums, lack of cameras, alleyways, etc) do not require any Crimechecks. Exception is Combine Fortifications. -- Crimes in Surveilled, Public, Nexus or Secure locations require a crime check. ---- If you are attacked, you may retaliate freely without the need to run a crime check. ------ To avoid Combine spamming waves, after a group of initial units has died whether the cause or response, they must wait 10 minutes before re-deploying NOTE: When you perform a crime, you first need to run a /checkcrime command to see if enough units are online and secondly you need to be aware that a timer will start from the moment you do your crime. This time will vary on the crime and you MAY NOT disconnect while the timer is active. There is generally 3 types of crime -- Petty Crime = Anything pertaining to muggings, sabotage, destroying minor property, propaganda, etc. These crimes offer a timer of 15 minutes and only Civil Protection will respond to these. 2 Units required. -- General Crime = Performing group muggings, partaking in a raid/heist, bombings, arson and firefights. You are given 30 minutes and can use /checkcrime to see if limits are met. A max of 3 waves can respond. -- Uprising Crime = Any assault on the Nexus, attacking major checkpoints or invading the City as a assault force. You get 60 minutes and need to use a /checkuprising command. A max of 4 waves can respond. NOTE #2: It should be noted that the timer will not end if you are still within the crime scene or are in active combat even if the timer has hit 0. But will automatically be able to be considered over the moment you are safe. Combine are expected to immediately RTB to the Nexus after the timer is up and combat is over. |
Section 5) Gameplay & Server stability
| Note: An Edict is a Source representation of a physical object in the game world. So any prop, entity, npc, playermodel bone, weapon, etc all count as 1 Edict per instance. We need to limit these to a max of around 6,000 as the total cap Gmod allows is very limited. Even with 1000 edicts left, we have to place a hard stop else the Engine will trade code stability for decor. 5A - Decor Limitations (Edicts) -- Apartments and offices have an edict limit of X (Undecided) ---- Stores & Bases will have a limit of X edicts depending on size: Small X, Medium X, Large X ------ Factions follow a slightly different allowance: -- CMU: X | CWU: X | Administration: X | Nexus: X -------- Please DO NOT litter any props, junk or items around the map. Use the containers. Loose items can and will be deleted (NO REFUNDS) [CWU can be used as an alternative as they can recycle all resources for you] Keep in mind your containers also count as edicts! So either convivence of Storage or Decor will have to picked! 5B - Faction Protections -- Each faction may have time-sensitive tasks or other IC duties which may cause them harm if they fail to complete something in a set timeframe. ---- To prevent harm, risk or damage to factions via Burnout and Stress, we allow factions to assign their projects their own deadlines. ------ While a deadline is set, a project cannot be rushed and punishments cannot be rendered for rushed failings. -------- Further, sabotage and damaged structures should take a minimum amount of time to be repaired to avoid consequences being covered up in record time creating little impact and ruining potential story development. 5C - Miscellaneous -- Generally we may take your base away from you if you have less than 3 active members ---- Padlocks and Group locks MUST be outward facing -- Containers do have a limit regardless of available edicts: ---- Solo/Individual = 1 Medium, or 2 smalls. Donators get 3 Mediums or 1 Large + medium. ALL players get a safe ---- Groups = 4 Large containers (+1 every 3 ACTIVE members, max is 8) ---- Stores = 4 Large containers ------ Containers should not be blocking any walls, pathways or even become accessible through a wall. Medium and Large containers should only be placed within buildings. |
