Character Name: Leon Martin Renard
Before the Union
Born to a couple as an only child in the upper middle-class and raised in picturesque Poitiers, Vienne, there were few times Leon ever knew hardship or need. Drawn through into his academic life, Leon was a consistently admirable student, all the way to his final Advanced Master's degree at ripe age of 25. Following this were a decade and a half of what seemed like a true success story. Rising from an apprentice and assistant within a lowly biomedical laboratory, nestled within an obscure industrial campus in Flanders, to a renowned biochemist within one of the big players at the front of pharmaceutical and biomedical research.
This however is only the side the outer world ever got to see: a man with a brain honed to a razor's edge and a passion for his work. For the longest time the true colours of Leon Martin Renard remained largely ambigious, shrouded in the veil that was his intellectual and amicable facade. The arrival of the Universal Union however, and its radical changes to how humanity would interact with science and medicine going forward, would allow these long hidden traits to surface.
Under the Union
With his work speaking volumes of his mental capacity, it wasn't long before Leon secured his spot within the ranks of the Combine's very own newly minted Civil Medical and Research Union. What had happened before the Seven Hour War now happened again: Leon secured his seat at the front. Through labour and cutthroat tactics to prove his loyalty, Leon eventually found himself at the event horizon: Loyalism and administrative duty within the CMRU. While those with their humanity intact would hesitate, Leon Martin Renard did not, taking his steps forward and becoming Dean within his new home. From here he has found the same calling he did before, however in a much more twisted light, perverted by the Combine: Advance humanity through research and innovation.
Inside the mind
Leon's motives can be summed as the security of three things: his own security, his work, and his new purpose under the Combine. This is something he will achieve through whatever methods he sees fit, long as any consequences fall within his own perceived "acceptable margins". For this he will not hesitate to resort to extreme measures if required, showing off a truly ruthless side. If there is work to be done, he will see to it that it gets done. This even extends to his own personal curiosities in concepts, objects or people. Only if a power above him summons him back will he stand down. Otherwise this will only happen once his mordid desire for knowledge is sated. It should be noted however that while ruthless in his acting and voracious in his search for knowledge, he is not reckless. Should the presented situation cause more detriment than good to himself and his parties of interest, he will not engage.
Another noteworthy facet of his psyche is his willingness to adapt to any given interpersonal setting, erecting a facade like a proverbial social chameleon. This most often shows itself as an amicable and witty if not slightly sarcastic persona, willing to get along with whoever is before him, long as it suits his actual interests. In the event this is not the case, a cold and distant man is all that will be shown.
For all his faults however, Leon is not without principles. Unlike some, his work is not simply an excuse or leverage to pry for any perks with. It is his true passion, with benefits as a result simply serving as additional gratification.
Furthermore, Leon is not one for immediate prejudice. No matter age, race or gender, the acts and attitude are what determine his vision on a given individual. That said, anyone who fails this unspoken test will not be shown any mercy or courtesy, be it in the form of a barrage of insults from his internal vocabulary, or targeted reports to CP.

This character is pre-determined to become a Dean within the CMRU following an accepted application for this function.
This current application serves to allow the character to become a loyalist in the upcoming system upon V3's launch on top of this.
