Hi all.

The crafting system is an essential part of rebel gameplay, however, what we can actually make with the crafting skill is very limited. I understand that there must be a cap on what rebels can create to ensure there aren't daily insurrections or stomp any sweep coming their way. Still, as it stands right now, rebels are locked into the lower category of items available to them. I'd like to propose a change that can help rebels move up a tier without destroying the balance of CvR.

I present to you all: Weapon Schematics!

The premise is quite simple, you go to your BMD and ask for the schematics of your desired weapon, then receive it for a fraction of what the weapon usually costs (let's say 25%).

Why is this beneficial?:
As stated before, this would allow Rebels to go up a tier in what they can make for themselves, currently, to promote balance, I'd suggest Schematics should only be available for Medium-Tier items (This would include: MP7s, MP5s, UMPs, and Medium Kevlar). For these types of items, only the best shall suffice, get ready to use a lot of Steel, fabrics, plus rivets and bolts to get your desired script. I believe Schematics will be extremely beneficial for the rebel scene without treading on the original intention of locking Rebels into lower-tier crafting recipes.

What problems could this cause?:
One of my fears when it comes to the introduction of schematics is the trivialization of Black Market Dealers (or BMDs for short.) since you can just buy the recipe for a fraction of the price. This is once again why I'll reiterate Schematics should probably be relegated to Medium-tier items only, ARs and heavy kevlars for example requiring you buy it outright, allowing both BMDs and Schematics to co-exist peacefully.

Do let me know what you think.

Instead of a BMD I'd just allow people to make an authorization where:

- They have to pay X amount of chips.
- Require 50 crafting and a specific amount on the intelligence attribute.

This gatekeeps it a lot more but would allow for the schematics to work. Auths team can choose who to give it to and the player can then help distribute those guns he makes through trading and RP with other people. Allowing everyone to have access to MP7 schematics seems like a recipe for disaster. But one or two people? That is not as bad.

That works too, Crafting 50 is a no-brainer as you are working with probable military-grade schematics. I think auths actually gatekeeps Schematics LESS since you can always write up an Auth, however BMDs aren't exactly common to find and most of the time you find them in Expos. But overall I'd have no problem with your system being implemented, so long as the amount you have to pay isn't ridiculous compared to just buying the gun. (Though I do disagree with the intelligence req. You are just following instructions after all.)

They are not common for those that are not part of groups. Those with access to the intra-net can literally request one to come to THEM.

Rebel leaders? Sure. Your average rebel? Not at all. Anyone can make an auth for weapon schematics, unless of course Schematics are only available to Rebel leaders, In that case, I'd lean towards your idea more, either way, I'd argue Schematics would be a great addition.

Doesnt need to be a rebel lead. Any group that has been to atleast 1 expo has access to the intranet. Or SHOULD. BMDs can help you with that if you ever find one

They're in the game, and honestly, I think it's strange how you can make a Popper (which is apparently scrap) that is 100% normal looking, without schems, or essentially an AK, but you can't make a USP (one of the most common guns around that Rebels would know by looking) for instance, unless you got a schem.

It's not easy dealing with BMDs (they rarely get on, and even then for brief amount of time), and getting high amount of chips, requires vomit-giving amount of grind, or losing normal credits / materials just to get some.

Considering they're only Pistols, I say keep schematics only for bigger stuff.

Hi, I'm an actual acreddited gunsmith for both the U.S Military and my civilian life. You can call me a beta cuck if you wish.

The scrap AKM, and VSK are what hurt me on a spiritual level as makeshift firearms would mostly consist of simplistic designs unless given proper access to riveting, tolerances, the ability to bend receiver flats, drill presses, et-cetera. Not that it isn't impossible to make a scrap AKM, (The VSK is a little more weird). Though, any quality made firearms would mostly depend on specific fine-tool machinery outside of things like revolvers, and low pressure and easy to manufacture weapons like shotguns. Single-shot, double-barrels, et-cetera.

(Also the fact that there is not a scrap shotgun ammo type hurts my soul because it's one of the easiest ammunition types to manufacture and would be balanced by virtually no armor piercing and lower damage.)

I have also hit a plateau of the usefulness of steel and bolts, and quite literally hoard them or sell them away like they're nothing. I'd be all for blueprints to manufacture weapons like the Revolver, simplistic shotguns, and even move the scrap AKM, (Honestly the VSK should be a fucking modern weapon.) to require a blueprint as well. This would help the pacing, if anything, and just give rebels more to do and have less reliance by shuffling around a mixture of useful and cheap firearms behind different obtainable methods without requiring a BMD.

Because God does getting a hold of a BMD during this arc make me want to pull my hair out.

+1 but a lot of rambling on my end.

This. Once you hit the Plateau, materials and scavenging become virtually useless as anything you make will always be inferior to anything you can buy. Getting Schematics either from BMDs or Auths would greatly stream-line the progression us rebelbros go through/

These... already exist. Blueprints as they are called.

Accepted and implemented.
