A welding mask for the mask slot. 50% quality? [shove some fabric into the welding mask slot]

1. it looks cool
2. it is useable for both CWU and civilian factions.
3. Maybe you get less headshot dmg from wearing it (as a suggestion, not sure if this is possible.)
4. Another method of hiding your face besides the standard gas mask/bandana.

Welding helmets aren't for show. They are dark as shit in order to compensate for the welding arcs you're intended to produce while wearing them. Advanced ones do adjust, but good luck getting the lithium batteries for those, especially given shit went down in 2001. Does this actually matter? I dont know. I used to weld, so it may just bother me more, but it would look kinda silly seeing someone try sprinting through the sewers while having a welding mask on to me.

Fun fact, I got a few welding helmets in my time. They certainly wouldn't protect against anything ballistically but in terms of the Transitional (Auto Darkening) visors they're actually recharged by the same panel that detects the light itself. Using UV radiation that is produced in the act of welding. Not a thing for or against, just a thing I thought was cool. Also, Fireproof balaclavas that tuck into your overalls is a must if you plan to do it professionally for 8-10 hours a day.
 
Lambda Wars had a unit wearing a welding mask but I think that had the visor itself be removed so it was just a piece of metal on your face.

Personally I don’t really mind it, it’d add more variety besides “gas mask guy” or “Scary bandanna guy”, but I’ve always kinda felt rebels needed a little more visual variety in general.

Alternatively if we’re gonna be sticklers about vision imagine a gas mask hud for every single gas mask item, finally combine players will have an IC reason for never looking up.

Yeah, I agree with this one, it should be a gimmick for CWU faction and not a rebel item. Anyone who put one of these would know you basically see nothing unless you're welding something.

This should be a RP-dominant item that displays the CWU status who are qualified in higher-level engineeering, nothing else.

let’s be honest if they add this rebels will wear it unless they literally add a filter that blocks 80% of your view

I mentioned it as a bit of a joke but now I kinda actually do want them to add visor Huds for masks, if they’re gonna do it for one might as well do it for all of them.
 
Headshot is already not lethal, reducing it even more with a welding mask out of every item we have isn't smart, especially since we have HELMETS and they dont reduce

aight, it was just an idea ;I.

Anyhow, I was thinking of something like this for rebels to use:
u got welding mask, bandana or gasmask rebels.

Welding masks just feel more 'scavenger-like' to me.

Please add more things. We want more things on the server. Please fill the empty void by adding more items and scripts for me. I need my character to look a certain way for me to roleplay. No sir, you can't RP having a welding mask on because you don't have the script. What's this? You welded without protection? Surely you'll roleplay damage to your eyesight, right? No? Oh crap, what the hell? We need to add scripts where if you weld without proper PPE it damages your eyes and eventually it blurs your vision and you go blind forever. Wait, what's this? You aren't going to go to workshifts anymore and just don't weld anymore because it's too complicated? Well, we need you to go to them. Aw jeez, why is the CWU workshifts not getting any workers?

I don't think we have enough variety in facial masking.

Hell, with this arguement you're bringing up regarding filters, why does a bandana or surgical mask even give you protection when they are cloth on your face, and designed to prevent spreading infections rather than 'preventing' the infection.

How about this, it becomes a head-slot instead of a mask-slot, so instead the mask covers whatever gasmask/bandana you have one while having the 'masked person' effect.
