What was your rp experience the first time you played hl2rp?

Be it semi-serious or serious RP, it doesn't matter.
I just wanna know what servers you all played before and what you remember when you played that server.
What got you into hl2rp, stuff like that.
 
First and only other server was Terranova. Had no prior experience with RP servers on Gmod.

First day I started with that sweet civvie whitelist. Walked about for a bit, talked with a OOC friend who showed me about the place, teaching me basic commands and such. Talked with some other people IC and before you knew it, I was on my first CWU work cycle.

We were brought to a factory that was across some active train tracks. We were lined up by CP's against a fence (And not shot to my surprise) and searched for any contraband. We were cleared, and the factories bay door opened, revealing two bullsquids trapped within the building behind a chain-link fence. Our job was simple: Lure the bullsquids out of the 'pen' so CP's could deal with them. Why they thought this was a good idea, I do not know, but TN was wild like that. I believe one person got, predictably, assailed by a bullsquid so we were pulled out of the building, and just sort of stood around in the open waiting for further orders.
Next thing you know, bullets start clanking against the bay door and burying themselves in the dirt all around us. A bunch of rebels with automatic weapons were shooting at all CWU, MPF, and Civilians present on the work shift. It was at this moment, I got my first taste of the unironic antagonists of the server. One civilian got hit and we all dragged him over to a corner, half dead, praying the CP's dealt with the rebels before they killed all of us.
Rebels fell back after a bit, and the civilian was rushed to the JCH and the work shift was completely called off. I then had a nice can of Breen water and sat on a bench, looking up at the C17 citadel, cooling off from the experience IC. Also had to wash the fellow civvies blood off of me.

That was my first hour or so of HL2RP.
10/10 would call rebels terrorists again.
 
My early days in HL2RP was during the time where there were a variety of servers with decent populations and styles. I do not remember many of the names of the servers I played on and I typically kept away from the larger ones.

I use to play on this outlands server called "Dominus Roleplay" which was the epitome of what early HL2RP use to be able to get away with. Personally speaking, HL2RP use to be more imaginative in the early days, but this led to much more ridiculous shenanigans. I remember DRP having donation rewards to have a rogue combine assassin - I think it was 30$ to have one? The server also had a plethora of lore breaking things like extreme Deus Ex type augments.

I also distinctly remember being too poor to have anything but GMOD. I played with extreme amounts of errors everywhere and walking error symbols. I always played a blue suit if the model was available. I know the pain of not having content and the headaches brought on by it, so if any of my friends lack the content I usually gift them the games because I do not want them to have the subpar experience I had in the early years.

So my first RP experience was not very representative of HL2RP today due to the crazy amount of variety (both good and bad) earlier servers offered. I remember getting murdered by covert CP and dueling katana wielding combine assassins with a baseball bat. Good times I guess?
 
I guess my first "RP" Experience was back in 2014-2015 on SWRP server called "Revolution Gaming" I guess that's where I started with the semi-serious RP.

After few months it died and new community got made, that's where I spend most of my time and i guess that's where all my Staff experience come from.

A year forward it died and I joined Sith vs Jedi server where I was helping with development and also being staff and such, I was talking to one of the owners and they mentioned that the only good rp is on "HL-2 RP"

So I given it a shot and joined smth like Apex and I learned all the secret bases and shit.

Then fast forward I tried CW Server and that was Neb and I got banned for meta-gaming a secret base. (Go me) left it joined Civil Gamers as staff

Got bored joined NEB and stayed. Then resigned from there after few years and joined TN, also died and here I'm
 
Forgot the server name, was clockwork, many many years ago.

Sprinted around i17,
got stopped by CPs,
got tied by CPs,
got knocked cold by CPs
got shot in the head by CPs,
got pked,
went to go play darkrp.

TL;DR, got amputated and pked for running around Plaza for 2 seconds.
 
I beat someone to death in a back room for the snuff film I was making.
 
I played off and on for a long time but the first server I really spent some time on was the Nexus years ago. I remember DeNuke played on it. I really enjoyed the server, though it wasn't around for too long.
I played on some random servers for a bit, then hopped on a server called Burrito Brothers. I know a few guys around here remember it. I played on it for a good while, it eventually got huge and there was a bunch of drama. If I recall correctly I ran their huge CP faction for some time, however like most servers, some internal drama inevitably led to its dissolution.
A couple of years went by and I had all but forgotten about it but, one way or another I got sucked into whatever the big server was at the beginning of the year. If I remember correctly it was some offspring from undetermined or something along those lines. They needed some help so I hopped in and ran CP for them. It was good fun while it lasted. Like always there was a bunch of drama between the real owner, some shadow owner, and the leadership that all hated him. There was some complicated coup plot that basically tore the server apart. The task of picking up the pieces got dumped into my hands and there wasn't much to be done. I think I was discussing a merge with Willard at the time and someone ended up deleting the discord server which was the final nail in the coffin.
I think Willard will be my last server for good, whatever the outcome of this experiement is- good or bad.
 
I started off back in Nebulous, Not a great server, But a Decent start.
Wasn't much there, I did do "Work Shifts" there, And I did have some decent RP, but It just wasn't for me. So I left to Aurora. That server wasn't that good, now that I think about it.
I played that for a VERY long time, Until I got bored of it. From one of my close "Friends" I heard of Terranova, A whole new experience.
I made several characters on there, made a lot of memories, Friends. I'm sad that it closed down, But I'm even more happy about Willard Networks.

I'm kind of Half/half on the whole "Willard Networks" thing, Seeming as there is a ton of change to get through. But its really the only good Serious HL2RP server left, So I see no other choice.

I unfortunately began my misadventures in HL2RP back in 2011; Catalyst-gaming.
Played there for quite a few years, became an adminge and later on super adminge. Then drama hit, I quit.
Then came Lemonpunch... Became adminge, later on super adminge and then mega-ultra drama hit. I left. Returned later, became adminge. Community & server drama. Now big ded. No rip.
Gave Nebu a shot, pulled a few strings to have some fun building shit for player enjoyment cause I was scrub-mcgee normal player; got reprimanded for it and quit.
Now I'm here because I'm bored and don't wanna spend money on some other game.
 
2011 / 2012 Catalyst Gaming here, though I cannot remember the exact details. From what I gathered, it was a mostly positive experience.
 
Earliest I can remember was a server called ERP, or Eclipse Roleplay
They gave loyalists guns
-Got CP
-Gave guns to my friends
-Got caught
-got blacklisted
-Went on as a civ
-Got executed by a loyalist for stealing a ration from a workshift
-Made a new civ
-Put “tier 15 loyalist” in my desc and ran around with an MP7
-Tricked CPs into believing tier 15 loyalists can carry MP7s and can enter the nexus whenever they want
-Killed the CA

Well I mean, it was good, I didn't know how to RP, I asked in chat "how do you get jobs here". I tried to talk to my mic. Was confused why everyone is ignoring my messages because I didn't know what OOC and LOOC was. I thought it was literally a DarkRP server with Hl2 on it...
 
I played UG, had a dope start in HL2rp, and now I get drawn back in every once and a while.

Never forget my time as 'Kevin Warren', back when I was a kid on HL2rp lmao.
 
i posted about my first experience in a server where I've actually RPed, but my first first one was literally just mingepunching and getting banned from half the hl2rp servers until i got bored and went back on melonbomber
 
I can't remember what server i started playing on first but i can remember that i never really stayed on one server for long. Most of the time i'd join, make a character, walk around for a bit, try to rp then quit.

SCG, 2018. My first character was a black man named Tyrell Williams (yes). I played him as a kindhearted, down-to-earth loyalist. He got in his fair share of trouble on Shell Beach, though. All my memories of that time are nostalgic. Then I got into the conscripts (playing a 6'4" Russian man with a heavy accent) and spent the rest of my time on SCG as a conscript.

Little did I know that I was playing into two of the biggest HL2RP stereotypes ever.
