Whats the difference between Willard and a standard HL2RP server?

I assume you come from either DarkRP, Impulse or an equivalent to it.

PK's are a part of HL2RP since the dawn of the gamemode, if you do not get punished for making risky plays and failing, you can just do it again, and again, and again... It would be chaos.

SeriousRP after all promotes creative roleplay and thinking rationally before going in guns blazing, there's been plenty of risky plays from rebels where they all survived, it depends on how you play
Is it Worth being realistic and very serious at the Costa of 20-30 average players and all being passive cuz they dont wanna risk anything?

Also impulse wasnt perfect, but there was a reason it was full 90% of the time and sadly Willard isnt (which sucks cuz it is cool)

Willard typically averages 40-50 players. Things are currently slow due to a few issues and IRL schooling/obligations.

PassiveRP is a big thing in HL2RP too, SeriousRP isn't about just lolwebuling and shooting up every CP and Citizen you see, you form connections, create a story.

I want to play a game, I dont care about shooting and shit, I just want to play without making new character every 5 days.

Imagine if in New Vegas you would need to do it, it would be so dumb.

You cannot compare Fallout New Vegas to HL2RP.

If you get your character killed in 5 days, then I'm sorry. But that's on you...

You'll need to be sneaker, smarter with your character's life and how they act.

Maybe on weekends, but even then I only see 30~

Maybe you are Lucky:/
I understand you're new. Due to this you've joined during a strange time. School and Finals is the focus for everyone.

Weekdays normally population is 40-50 and weekends 50-65+ depending what happens. It's just slow at the moment.

I bid you welcome to the grit of serious roleplay. We all started on it somewhere, and naturally you will have questions. But, maybe this will help you as much as it has helped many others before you taking their first steps into this unknown, difficult and hardship-filled world.

Need any additional help, always contact staff or some of the veteran players. Try not to let the confusion and irritation get to you. Overall, it can become VERY addictive and overall soul-engraving once you get into it. Trust me, that's more of a warning than it is a "come join us" because you'll become a thrall enslaved to the gamemode if you let it... like the rest of us poor sods. LOL

I read it and I am sorry but the guide is so cryptic and sounds more like a monologue than an explanation, maybe Im just retarded

It is a very out-spoken guide that is to physically act as if I, or someone else physically, was speaking it to you face-to-face to explain it. It will contain the flooding of advanced vocabulary and an overall sophisticated approach, but that's how you will find guides like this in the general basis. Given that the gamemode itself is somewhat sophisticated, it can give a bit of whiplash if you are very new or coming straight out of semi-serious. Though the guide itself is meant to be as straight forward as possible while producing a streamed detail of information forward through a qualitative approach.

Think of it like playing Dungeons & Dragons. In that case, the path forward becomes brighter and far more additionally clearer the more you read it. Apply your knowledge of Half Life 2 and perhaps various Semi-Serious servers (like Impulse) and you may have a stronger understanding of what you are willing to play. :)

Agreed.
Only thing to say about the way PK's currently stand is they are skewed in terms of danger, if you are in certain factions, you are far safer/immune to the raw effect of a 'PK', that is the only thing I'd say is kind of dull, it is also the only server i have found where certain factions have a 'PK immunity'

I don't get the joke
The Combine you see in HL2 aren't at all similar to 1984.
1984 is political with heavy emphasis on propaganda, the secret police, etc

Nearly all of Humanity in HL2 are against the Combine -- they are kept in line because quite frankly they took over earth in Seven hours, what are you going to do about it? You do what they say because they're a militaristic alien superpower, not because you're brainwashed or subverted into thinking they're the good guys.

I will still make 1984 jokes because similarities are too good.
But tbh CPs act more like WW2 Germans with their "Ok 5 secs to escape if u don't we will shoot you" stuff but maybe it's just my ptsd

HL2 is a technocratic dystopia. everything is ruled by a core scientist elite (headed by breen, a scientist) and the entire reason earth is allowed to exist is to develop portal technology. this is far from 1984, where scientific progress didn't matter + the combine itself is a mishmash from several books released in the 1960s and before. "it's a dystopia" =/= "this is 1984" (except in the case of memes)

Alright I hear you.
Counter point.
Well, I don't have one but I will still make 1984 comparisons cuz it also makes some people mad for some reason.
