We basically did a BMD event in which we were asked to assault a warehouse. In that warehouse, we found some shit (Pretty basic backstory)

Now the problems start here:

After escaping the warehouse without any civil protection officer seeing us, we of course went to the sewers to try and find an escape route. After that, we attempted to get up the stairs by jumping at them (the broken ones) To go to the other side ignoring the forcefield. We rolled a 20/20 and still got denied (rp'd that the staircase broke and we fell to the ground). After that, we were pushed to the outlands gate(SINCE THIS MAP ONLY HAS TWO FUCKING ROUTES ON THE SEWERS, EITHER THE STAIRS, OR THE OUTLANDS), and over there, after like 5 minutes(Because the GM specifically told us "CP needs to act"), civil protection arrive (While so, we were trying to open the outlands doors, first by putting a battery in, which didn't even get a response from gms, then from hitting the wall, which would be decaying, didn't get a response again, and at last by hitting the reinforced window) NOW one would think that the bars holding that window could be broken if hit hard enough (Given that we're talking about a sewer filled with acid, so they're likely rusty and decayed, maybe someone else already tried breaking them and therefore even more fragile), and using that logic, we started hitting the window with a sledgehammer. We held civil protection there for 10 minutes talking to them(making time) while we hit the glass. NO FUCKING PROGRESS. GMS wanted us to die, it seems like. And after that, a shooting took place, and the doors still remained closed. Most of us died, and then they opened the doors after two of us were already dead. WE HAD NO CHANCE TO LEAVE, AS WE TRIED TO ESCAPE BOTH ROUTES AND HAD CP FAR BEHIND US. STILL. That happened.

We thought we would be allowed into the outlands since yesterday, another group was allowed while being pursued by CP. Apparently not.

And all of that, because the GM wanted to "tank the rep of the IMS. " https://gyazo.com/5026e2887661630ff0ba042775c72039

I really tried to revive RebelRP, created a group where everyone could join since this map is so shitty and small, allowed everyone in, with no distinctions, and did something that LFC couldn't (Got together all rebel groups to fight together and share supplies and manpower, those being LFC, Raven's raiders, and Jun's army), I created a spy network, giving civvies something to do other than grind trash, offered some more RP to the slums, creating a sort of sense of security within them (You'd see tons of members of Jun's army walking around, and every shop in the area would be working for the same cause). But I've hit my feet with a stone. The stone of Willard management. The reason why rebels stay in their homes without doing absolutely anything other than protecting their beloved scripts. They know for each thing they do, they will be OBLIGATED to lose, at least one member of their team/group. And that could be them. And what even is the benefit? More scripts? I accepted this event to give the people I was with something to do other than stand at their bases doing shit (I didn't only go with my group, other group members came too), and set up a plan... But NO CWU IS EVER ON, and CP always has to win.

I do not make this thread because I lost any characters (Because I did not), or because I am upset with any admin involved. I make this to show why rebels don't do shit, why rebel RP is dying, and why it will never change. I tried to fix it. I couldn't.

Good night.

From what I can see, it wasn’t a BMD quest and whoever approached you was simply just another character

Hi. Ignoring everything else in this thread since it doesn't concern the dealings of BMD's directly, I do hope you're aware that absolutely none of this was initiated by any member of staff, CT, or otherwise. Not even a player BMD.

A player told you to break into the IMS. This player holds no whitelists and has no staff rank or CT rank. GM's had to somewhat improvise the consequences of this since it was rather unexpected and not all of the GM's were on the same wavelength, but all went fine with no major issues warranting a void or anything in the end.

This wasn't a BMD quest. It was a player telling you to do something promising alleged payment.

You got snitched on, simple as.

I think the misinterpretation came from the fact the guy was wearing a really rare item you would expect some kind of event character to wear, honestly.

Sounds like a standard regular-ass player told you to do something, and you ended up paying an extreme price for the actions undertaken. When something gets done without CT/GM approval alongside, it not even be given by a BMD no less, this is essentially the result you get handed to you because it's basically a non-communicated action with 0 planning involved and no awareness.

There is a good reason as to why no quests are given out of the blue, and it's generally because before anyone is allowed to hand one out, there is both communication and knowledge of what's going on. Planning goes behind each quest and quite a bit of thought so some know the gist of what is going on and such issues are not created. Same with Events.

Edit: To correct my last sentence which was made the assumption of a "BMD" was assumed. When another player/rebel gives you a task such as raiding a building, it would be good to do your own research into it first as some helpful advice. As there is a lot of high risk being involved.

Just wanted to say.

Even if it wasn't a BMD Quest/event, from the information provided, GMs did not do a good job of handling what did happen, even if it was not a planned event, they still should have done a better job.

Don't get me wrong I definitely understand why someone would be annoyed on the rebel side, but at the same time you really didn't think of an escape route, a plan B, or maybe even a plan C? This was a dangerous mission you launched and to not take into consideration where you was going to escape to after seems to be poor planning on your behalf. Only reason people go to the sewers after such a thing on C24 is because it was very large and searching the entire sewer for a few rebels most of the time wasn't worth it. This map on the other hand is quite the opposite, the sewer is very small when compared to C24's and it would be totally reasonable for you to think it was safe considering our extensive time on the 24, but regardless, the combine fence has been up in the sewers for a large amount of time, most rebels already know about it, the fence leading to the outland area is most of the time always closed, yet, you still entered placing your characters life on the line for a unplanned chance at escape.

I just find it strange you would bet your entire characters lifespan on a escape route that previously was know for being blocked of. Though at the same time if you were under the impression this was a CT hosted event I can see why you would think such a thing

I think all of this was a bit of a misunderstanding. So I will go through and clarify the things that happened to the best of my ability.

First and foremost, as Neon said, this was a player character not an admin (or BMD) as far as I know.

There is a lot said here so I will do my best to digest all of it.

Here is my point by point on this.

CP response:
This group decided to do this without preventing there from being any witnesses. There were witnesses, and one or more of them snitched. That is why the CPs showed up.

The staircase nat 19 roll:
A lot of this argument hinges on this roll. So, as the person who GM'd it, I will talk about my (on the spot) reasoning about this.
Look at this screenshot (where the bluesuit is where one of the four were trying to jump from, to grab onto the step on the right)
1674601813018.png

Normally I wouldn't let someone jump that gap because it is too far, and there is a pipe in the way. However, because he got a nat 19, the jump was a success. I did a /it describing that the man jumped, grabbed onto the first step, which couldn't bear his weight (since it is dangling) and he fell down onto the staircase below. I feel like anything else would constitute powergaming here.

The gate to the outlands:
The gate to the outlands is almost always locked, and hard to get through. Yes they were able to get through it yesterday and I wasn't there for that. The CPs weren't actively chasing then, and all in all, it was a different situation altogether.

Here's what the Jun's army did to try and get through the gate.
  1. Use a 20+ year old car battery to try and power it up
  2. Try to use a sledgehammer to beat through an iron gate, which behind it was very clearly security glass
1674602838873.png
The windows in question ^^ Notice how there are rigid iron bars on one side, then thick security glass, then another set of iron bars on the other side.

After a few minutes the CPs showed up, and the group spent some time chatting with them while wasting their time beating on the aforementioned glass. At each opportunity I made it very clear through /it's that their attempts had little effect, yet they continued with this plan.

Eventually, a firefight breaks out. I started a timer for 60 seconds. Two characters out of the group of five are downed, the door is open, and the rest flee to safety. The two that were downed were arrested by the CPs, which interrogated them. One was released, another was taken by the IMS to be 'experimented on'. That character will be released here in a couple days with no knowlege of the event, some mental trauma, and otherwise unharmed.

So at the end of it, there were no PKs. Hardly anything was lost other than the scripts on the bodies of the two that were downed. Jun's group got lots of roleplay and development (especially the guy that was captured) and got a good reward. The CPs were able to investigate and do some RP, and Jun is able to turn in the intel gathered from the IMS building for a hefty reward and/or weaponize it however he sees fit. Its all in all basically a win/win for everyone.

I accepted this event to give the people I was with something to do other than stand at their bases doing shit (I didn't only go with my group, other group members came too), and set up a plan... But NO CWU IS EVER ON, and CP always has to win.
This is the last point I want to refute.

Yes I am glad your group decided to do this. I intentionally added those papers for you to find because the base was cleared out weeks ago ICly. Those notes are valuable, and can go for a big price or, like I said, weaponized to give Jun quite a bit of power over a global organization. The group made a couple mistakes, and so they lost some scripts. Thats about it. The CPs did not win. Their goal was to prevent escape, and the most important target escaped. They clearly lost this confrontation, and they're handling it well. I'm sorry about CWU being somewhat inactive, we're working on it.

Okay so why is @Belgg getting shamed for doing a player driven event that was not just a BMD quest given out?
This was a full on player led event that he planned and was IC from all parties. This kind of stuff should be encouraged but all the admins here are shaming him for it. Why?

Also the door opens if you have an IC reason. They had an IC reason to go to the Outlands, admins should have opened it asap. Why wait until half the group is downed? They pulled off a heist without your guys help and it seems like your just punishing them for doing it.

I appreciate everything the GM's do but this just seems wrong, I agree with @Belgg
