Yankee Doodle keep it up,
Yankee Doodle dandy.
Mind the music and the step,
And with the girls be handy.
Father and I went down to camp,
Along with Captain Gooding,
And there we saw the men and boys
As thick as hasty pudding.

Old Man and the Sea
-"I remember this old dog... he was with us when we left City Twenty-One. For some reason... it feels like I've met you so many times, yet... when you spoke your name, a memory was triggered to life. You sought my help to find Jeremiah. A name that similar to yours made an impact. I had knew these folks, but... it was as if some sort of devilry in the psychosphere around this place has cast a curse unto us, like the gypsies of old. Never believed in that sort of thing myself. Ugh... fuck it....nevermind... we scoured the city after our mate, but couldn't find him until the door appeared before our eyes. Jeremiah was trapped there and not only him, but a woman.. and they were not alone. The face and the voice of that Broadcaster will never disperse from my memory; the evil shit people can conjure up these days don't even... jeez.. truth be told. I can't even comprehend it myself. In those final minutes, as we expected our death... suddenly, a glimmer of hope let us out and we all scrambled and made it out alive. Trust me... if we can defeat this psycho hiding behind a telescreen... well, then not even the Combine will be able to halt us in our tracks."-

-"Volunteered to find you with the old man. Searched all the buildings we could find, hoping we wouldn't find a corpse. Turned out, you were far from it. Trapped in some sick game in an abandoned building along with that woman. Me and the old man, well... he went in and played it. Thought that was going to be it, but as truth would have it - it seems that fate wasn't done with us. I haven't seen you since, nor the old man. I can only hope you made it. It ain't fair to survive what we did, only to die to a wretched bullet or a creature one could never imagine. I just hope you're alive and out there, you and everyone else. Otherwise I'll have to venture out there again, but alone this time... you better not be dead. Once a Patriot, always a Patriot."-

-"I'm glad to see you still with us, and this time - truly with us. Officially part of the movement. But the truth is, you've always been part of it. You've been fighting this war for as long as the rest of us have, you just don't know it. But know you know. I'm glad to have you by my side. I know you're ready... hell, probably more ready than me. It is easy to fool oneself, to believe that the war ended when Breen signed the treaty. But the truth is, the war never ended. The war has been endless ever since they came to our planet. And it will never end, until we've won or they've killed us all. We can't afford to be naive... their goal ain't to enlighten us, but to exterminate us. To harvest our planet for whatever resources they want, as well as the people. But we, who have decided to fight.. we've made our decision already. The war is endless because it never ended. And it won't even end when we're dead. We'll die.. probably.. that's the way of life. The only thing we can truly do, is to make it worth it. Everything we do will be to the benefit of all, never forget that. Now I can count on you as a brother, one that bear arms like myself. And the flag of our former nation will be etched in our mind forever. Whether we make it our alive or not, be sure to know - I'm proud of you. Never stop fighting, T."-

-"You remind me of my older sister, Samantha... haven't seen her since... well, over a decade now. Ever since we got separated in the refugee zone. Same willpower, attitude and an independence I ain't seen in anyone else. Truth be told, I'm glad to have you. And I can safely say the movement wouldn't have made it without you. You survived out there on your own until you linked up with us on our long march from City Twenty-One. Your ability to organise and discipline the guys and girls, well... hell. Perhaps we'll make it out of here alive afterwards. I'm glad we made it out from the clutches of those conscripts and the masked ones. Felt like a close-call, and it was. But I like to think that's how fate wanted it to be. We weren't meant to die, nor were we meant to give up on our belief in the Cause. Tough man, hardened like so many others by the hardships we've endured. A brother in arms; nothing will ever change that. I wasn't born a fighter, I was forced to become one... ain't too sure about yourself, but you strike me as both. That gives me hope... that we'll somehow make it out alive... and with as many folks we can. Both the Patriots and the refugees alike count on us, on all of us - to make the right call and to keep each others back. I know I'll keep your back, and I know you'll keep mine. In a world that is no longer ours, all we can do is to... well, make whatever choice we can - count.
