POB: Manchester Royal Infirmary, Greater Manchester, North-Western England
COHESION:ABSOLUTE
“To command is to serve, nothing more and nothing less.” – Andre Malraux.
BACKGROUND AND CAREER
Alexander Niel was born within the Manchester Royal Infirmary (pictured to the right) to a upper-middle class family. He had no siblings. As a young child, Niel had few to interact with, and rarely spoke to others, including his own parents, who both worked tirelessly in an unnamed accounting firm. This lack of interaction eventually led to complete social isolation, which made strong impressions upon the young boy.
Little is known of how he came to be transhumanized, though the process was neither undergone willingly nor with any resistance. It is likely that at the time of transhumanization the then young man would have still had little to no interactions occurring within his day-to-day routine, resulting in a very disconnected demeanor.
Career success ranges, with a number of deployments to stabilize socio-stability including several vortigaunt unauthorized unshacklings, and escort services ranging from Overseers to the Vice Administrator, Bernard Mulligan. Mission successes cannot be disclosed due to fact redaction and classifications to Overwatch Security Forces. QUICKSAND-12 is serving in the 2nd Infantry Company (emblem depicted to the left).
It is understood that QUICKSAND-12 specializes in protection of assets, including priority individuals, locations, and items. The reason for this specialization is unknown, though it is likely a pre-determined specialization pathway.
STANDARD EQUIPMENT AND GEAR
Typically, QUICKSAND-12 can be found with the issued SR-1 or AR-2 Combine Carbine, which fires light pulse-energy rounds capable of penetrating all grades of armour with little issue. The SR-1 offers more mobility compared to it's older cousin, the AR-2, but hits less hard- though this is made up for by the superior fire rate and accuracy of the weapon system. On occasions the delegate used to carry a sidearm, but no longer does.
Additionally several types of utility and grenades are carried clipped to the delegate's belt or stowed in pouches, including AN-M14 incendiary, Model 5210 smoke, M84 stun, and MK3A2 fragmentation grenades. The pouches attached allow for the bearing of additional ammunition, zipties, and advanced medical equipment. The Squad Leader wears the standard issue heavy kevlar Overwatch Transhuman Arm Uniform, with OSL markings, alongside an OTA faceplate and helmet with filters to protect against harmful gases, fumes, vapours, odours, and Xenian spores.
The uniform's kevlar protects against all small-arms, and reliably protects against the majority of medium-caliber rounds including the commonplace 5.56 x 45mm NATO and 7.62 x 39mm rounds, but struggles with rounds such as 30.06. The line is drawn when .50 Beowulf is being fired at you- little will stop these rounds though.
Levels of augmentation are hard, near impossible, to judge, besides the guarantee of improvements related to the delegate's dexterity, strength, agility, and ability. It is a safe bet to assume augmentations include improved sensory functions, including hearing and sight.
Respect and/or Despise are both subconscious emotions that will NOT reflect any real difference in gameplay. It merely represents the thoughts on characters that the delegate has, buried deeply within his subconscious and irretrievable.
COMBINE CIVIL AUTHORITY
Ilya Zima Although the architect of several questionable schemes and ideas, Zima is an undeniably interesting figure for better or worse.
Bernard Mulligan Although under immense strain, he maintains more civic unity than others could in his position.
Overseer Halifax He possesses the ruthlessness required to deal with the rebellious underclass and fringe elements.
