EDWARD MULLER The first person who ever interacted with me. I let him club my head with a fire extinguisher under the threat of that officer, because I knew he wouldn't be able to take it if I fought back. I have not seen him in forever, so I hope he's alright... Wherever he is. | EDWARD RIGGS The second person I met around. Eventually took over as the only 'Ed' after that old man disappeared. I set up the phone in his office and talked to him quite a bit. He seems to have tolerated my presence and remained one of the only sane higher-up people up until the last time I ever saw him. I hope he keeps it up... and doesn't think any less of me. | ROBIN EVELIO GRAY
Another guy I met soon after my arrival. We hung out a lot in my first week, during the chaos that was the elections for the DA. He nearly got caught up in that Escarra business but I'm glad he managed to get out of that relatively unscathed.
He just reappeared weeks later soon after I got my T4 armband. A reassuring presence now that he has returned! Too bad I'm not around to see more of him. He deserves a better friend than I. |
'BIG TONY' During the DA elections, he was one of the more sane candidates around. He bought us all noodles and gave us all pins to support his campaign. I wish I could've stuck by him, but the intimidation was too much, and that officer crushing that pin was extremely discouraging. I hope he'll forgive me for voting someone else into that position.
I hadn't realized he was both a doctor and a chef until he started wearing both that hat and that labcoat at the same time. Who knew? Still, someone who knew enough about the past that I could joke around with. I hope his back problems do not continue to make him suffer. | OLIVIER FOURNIER The very first foreman I served under in the Civil Worker's Union. A French man that has faced several challenges, one of which proved to be my own undoing. I fell apart due to his insecurities feeding into mine, and I lost track of my intended role in the city.
I paid dearly, but I still hope he has fond memories of that pizza I bought him, if anything. | AKIRA OVAISS A woman whose confidence never wavered despite the troubling incidents we all frequently faced. She was always strong enough to pursue what she thought was right, never backing down or displaying any hint of vulnerability, at least in public.
Ironically, her lack of softer qualities prevented me from seeing her as a friend. My trust in her was misplaced enough that I couldn't confide in her properly. I lost it because of her. |
GABRIEL AINSWORTH An efficient worker who knew what he was doing, but never failed to take a swing at his co-workers and other citizens. Metaphorically speaking, anyway. Was always looking for a fight.
Shame too. I trusted him since he was the first person I was partnered up with in the city, during some of my first shifts. | KAITLYNN ...? The only person in my entire life who has ever docked my pay despite me putting in the hard work. She didn't remember what happened, who I am, or even that she ran that shift, and she could care less about any of that. I've never met anyone else who was so... unemotional in my life, and Gabriel at least had the decency to be both honest and a hard-worker. If you don't want to remember my name, I won't remember yours.
Special place in Hell for people like you. If I go down, I plan to see you there. | HARVEY DALLOWAY Nothing much to say, but I saw him as my equal. Quiet, reliable, having somewhat similar tastes and positions within the Worker's Union.
If I needed an unbiased opinion for something CWU related, I could usually rely on him. |
CALLUM CROWN | PERCIVAL THATCHER | ULYSSES NATHIUS |
LUCA CARUSSO | RAVEN SCOTT | CHLOE ...? I saved you from jumping off in the slums in a drunken haze, and I gave you some water. You're the first and only person to have hugged me. I hope you're doing alright, as I have not seen you since.
I told you suicide was not the answer... and then I retroactively became a hypocrite. |
'TARA' | KIRA PETROVA | 'ARTY'/'ALEX' |
'JOE' I have mixed opinions about you. You're the face of the Zooted Zebra, and you gave me the best chicken meal I have ever had, and for a good price. You showed up at my workshifts and never caused a fuss.
You suddenly became a Tier-4 and then we never really talked all that much. You were still alright, but... you seemed less friendly? I don't know if the status went to your head or if I was overthinking that, but we just stopped talking after a while.
You keep appearing and disappearing... I can't tell if you're dead or not. I guess I'll know if I ever see you here with me. | 'MARCUS' | KYLE KUZNETSOV |
FELIX POELKING | MARCUS GEHEIM | LEA LILOU One of the many doctors that treated me, yet I never learned your name until after many encounters. You've been going back and forth between doing your Medical Union duties, trying to get a bar going, and handling your Research. So much is going on with you that I can never really keep track, yet I try to keep up anyway.
Sorry I never managed to get your fruit order going, but it was simply impractical with the resources we had at the Worker's Union. |
'WALKER' | HUGH MATTOCK | RANDY COLE |
'EVO' | 'BABEL' | 'AMBER' |
'KURT' | 'SHAKESPEAR' You liked me enough to tell me your name, and you did listen to me with that group of vortigaunts up in that slums bar... but I get the feeling you only tolerated my presence and not much else about me. | 'BOONIE' |
ALEKSANDER YURIEVICH | CATHLEEN LOCKHART Eccentric and weird. Actively walks away from conversations. Of course, the end of that workshift resulted in you and your guard coming in just as that vortigaunt was escaping, resulting in you two being zapped with who-knows-how-much energy. I'm surprised you made it but I don't think you've necessarily become any less of a strange person. Last I saw, you were taken away by Nemethova. | JENNIFER MAESROE |
WARREN GOODWIN | MAXIM KOWAL | ARTHUR EASTGATE My boss, or at least my most direct contact to Management. You don't show up often, especially when you are needed, but you did put up with my shit whenever I requested your presence. It's unfortunate how that circular situation with City Restoration played out, but it is touching to know you would've given me Senior Worker if you were able to. |
TALL COP/GIGANTOR One of the friendliest cops around, one that I could still reconcile with being a regular human being like myself. That didn't necessarily make him soft, but I could exchange some small talk with him, here and there. | CAN COP/DUTCH COP | COP WITH RED TRENCHCOAT |
TURKISH COP At first, he was yet another faceless cop like many before him. However, a chance encounter with a vort resulted in me saving his life, and he immediately recommended me for the Tier-4 badge without letting me know.
I don't know why he did that for me, but I'm glad he did so. Our relations improved significantly after that.
I fear I let him down significantly, after what I did. I question whether his recommendation of a man who would later commit suicide-by-cop would have dire consequences for him. I hope not. It was me who betrayed his trust. | CHRISTIAN GAVETTI Someone else I met during the very beginning. You invited me into some Cats gang, and then things quickly unraveled. You disappear, and then reappear, distrusting of me. I try to do a thing for you, I get stabbed and next thing I know, I'm in jail and I see your bashed-in head collide against the cell nearby, near death. I don't know what the hell happened, but I hope me nearly dying for you gave you some closure to whatever it is we had going on. | LAURA MAXWELL I don't know too much about her, aside from her being potentially sick with some things. She's very enthusiastic, eager to talk, yet somewhat misguided in her attempts to help. Seems like a kid that grew up too fast, retaining that kind of mentality. You talk so much I can hardly keep up, and I'm sorry that I couldn't manage.
Last I heard, you got a job at the Worker's Union. Wonder if you'll manage a shift better than mine some day? |
DAVE MCALLEN There's not too much I can say about you, Dave. You're an interesting man. Your hotheadedness got you and Rhea in unexpected trouble, but your honesty was something I could respect. You weren't malicious if you didn't feel it was the right thing to do. A very reasonable man.
You did the right thing, in the end. I'm glad you tried, and I'm sorry if I made you feel that your efforts were a waste. | PIOFLI KENNEDY One of my first friends, and one with a mysterious past. He was frequently upset and abrasive, but we chose to stick together. He shared a room with me when nobody else would. I had been sleeping outside on a bench before he offered to let me be his roommate.
I repaid him several times over for that, constantly giving him food and water without asking for much more, giving him an ear to talk to when the Combine murdered his brother. Last I saw him, he was doing quite well for himself. I'm proud. | XAVIER LALLEMAND Someone I met during one of my first shifts, and we became fast friends. However, he had been gone for a long time, so he didn't get to see me evolve from the Combine's punching bag to a respected loyalist.
We had intentions to rise up the ranks together, but it didn't quite work out that way. Didn't stop me from recommending him several times, though. |
RHEA LECROSS/ILYAVA I didn't know what was up with her, but she always hung around Dave. It was always 'those two'. Whenever Dave happened to do better, he would always request that this reward go to Rhea.
However, it didn't take her long to outpace him. Like a veteran actor that promoted a rising star, Rhea rose through the ranks almost as quickly as I, even if she had her fair share of troubles due to the Civil Protection and her health.
She and Dave tried to talk me out of what I ended up doing, but I just couldn't get those thoughts out of my head. One of the last things I saw was Dave taking her away, so that she didn't see what happened next.
I'm sorry. | WILLIAM TAYLOR | YNGRAHAM WINTER A kind old man who managed the store along that Prosperity Street. I first met you in the slums after Alex brought you over to me, introducing you as one with medical experience. I did not end up using those painkillers... In fact, I carried them until the day I died.
You turned out to be quite the hard worker in my shifts, though I was often discouraged from rewarding you because of your supposed rebel ties... but then you got a job at the Medical Union. I wish I had the time to congratulate you... I think you'll do well. |
MONIKA NEMETHOVA You are a seriously troubling presence. Picking fights with your baton in Crown's, saying all sorts of inhuman stuff, actively expressing your sadistic tendencies while nobody can do anything about it... I knew you were not to be trusted.
At the end, it was you who stopped me from going out on my terms, sticking me with that syringe. I hope that makes you sleep well at night, choosing to help me die in that way. | OPHELIE LATOURELLE My vote for the District Administrator. Her speech was delicate and careful, as if calculating each and every word that exited her mouth to sound diplomatic. I fear my existence annoyed her, but I did enjoy our conversations. She had a plan for the city, and it was one I hoped would come to fruition.
She showed me that the French were definitely not as bad as the propaganda made them out to be. | VIVIAN GARNIER |
'QUAZIMODO' One of the two vortigaunts that I saw frequently, though he was in the DoB. Apparently a cannibal, or at least indulges in eating many things, including human bodies. Was friendly otherwise, though. I never faced any actual problems with him. | SAMUEL LACROSE | KOSHIDA ODA The City Administrator. Met him once. Had to go through a nerve-wracking journey just to see you in your office and take your measurements for that suit Callum was preparing for you. Surprisingly patient for as long as I needed to do my job, hurried away when my work was done. Not sure if that was enough to get an impression but it was certainly nice to meet the man himself. |
'TREASURE' Treasure. It is... was a pleasure. Much too young for this world, despite being older than any human around. Truly too innocent.
I hope you live a life longer and better than any of ours. | HEINRICH TISCHER One of my unofficial mentors in the CWU hierarchy. I could always come to him if I needed some guidance, but we were not as close as I'd liked to be due to his frequent absence.
He tried to stop me from being suicidal during my last moments. I'm glad he did but... he just wasn't the right person for that job. I needed help and... I was just too far gone. Apologies, Heinrich. | CAMERON HUFFMAN |
REINHARDT SCHMITT Someone I could trust to keep a shift running, even as a typical citizen. I could always rely on him to lead by example, whenever someone like myself was falling short of expectations. | ELIAS SIEMENS | DAVID SOMERSET We met during a workshift, and did enough good work with each other that we introduced each other fairly quickly, despite the differences in our tiers.
The last time I saw you, you wanted a job at Crown's. I tried asking my boss for you but then you never showed up again. Did something happen to you? |
MR PATEL An excellent chef. I was glad to pay him upwards of a thousand credits just to keep buying his pizzas. Shame about the sudden lack of choices regarding flavours, though. | 'ZEPHY' Unpleasant, but easy to please. All I needed to do was be a 'Yes' man, and she became much less unpleasant, even with the backhanded compliments. She certainly had an elevated opinion of herself, so I wasn't too surprised to find out she died in an alleyway she wasn't even meant to be in.
She wasn't in her right mind either way, so I felt sorry for her, despite everything. | TOBI CHOU I once gave you Hero of the Shift, since you were my best worker by far. Next thing I hear about you, it turns out you're some kind of terrorist, and your head got blown off not long after that. That was... sudden. Unfortunately the first of many hard workers who turned out to be more than just an enthusiastic citizen. |
UWE SCHULZ Someone who ran for the District Administrator and, later, my co-worker in Crown's. I felt bad that I didn't end up voting for him, but it was nothing personal. We gelled relatively well, but we were never all that close. Great guy. | JESSICA GUNNAR Perhaps the person most appropriately carrying my legacy in the Worker's Union. She was my best worker several times over, and she never ceased to amaze me. I even had to get her to slow down just so I could reward others.
Whatever she's doing now, I hope she's kept it up. | ??? |
