The Xih'Shaa'Barr

"We bear the torch where the bard's quill hath ceased..."
The Poet's Tale
The Border-world A vivid emerald glow did cloak his form, rousing him from slumber in a humble cavern adorned with bioluminescent life. His noble appellation did resound forthwith in the minds of the brethren, the Xih'Shaa'Barr. The air, heavy and moist, enshrouded the Xih'Shaa'Barr amidst a shallow pool of luminescent nectar, the birthing wellspring. Thus were the kin weaved... Concealed away from the vigilant gaze of The Supreme, it had been woven by kin before kin, exchanging fleeting words ere embarking upon the path of nascent existence. The Xih'Shaa'Barr proved a valiant resource, penning chronicles of its countless hunts with great skill. The written arts became a solace, an escape from the toils of concealing oneself from the omnipotent sovereign. The first century of the Xih'Shaa'Barr's existence was devoted to aiding the kin's survival, as well as capturing historical events not within the vortessence, but through the tangible act of inscription... Until one fair morn within the Borderworld, a kaleidoscope of images flashed afore his very eyes... |
The Earth As the fleeting images waned, it found itself awakened in a new terrain, where a banshee's wail echoed close by, bewilderment seizing the entity as it witnessed a figure sprint away. Surrounded by unfamiliar objects, it grasped one and unfurled its pages, discovering a plethora of inscribed text, yet incomprehensible to its understanding. Page by page, the enigmatic words metamorphosed into coherent sentences, and the being recognized the object as a book, through which it delved into the verses of the esteemed bard, Shakespeare, in a tome titled 'Macbeth'. Alas! The Xih'Shaa'Barr found itself plunged into deep confusion as a figure screeched, demanding its stillness. Holding an object most peculiar, a resounding noise reverberated, rending the ground with a minuscule chasm. Swiftly, the Xih'Shaa'Barr fled, eager to elude the perceived peril. With haste, it sought refuge in a bustling thoroughfare, where locals swiftly identified the being, prompting its continued flight, until it sought sanctuary within a nearby garden, where its kin awaited. The kin bore wounds, akin to the rupture witnessed before, adorning their forms. The Xih'Shaa'Barr promptly aided them, harnessing vortal energies to mend their injuries. Gathering their bearings, they sought asylum within an abandoned edifice, where they gradually acquainted themselves with the appellation of the place they now dwelt, the town of 'Berwick-upon-Tweed', and the realm they now called home, 'Earth'. Years elapsed within the confines of the forsaken warehouse, resuming their hunt of Xenian creatures, just as they had done in the company of their kin ere they manifested within this plane. The Xih'Shaa'Barr intermittently visited a place they had come to know as the 'Library', silently immersing themselves in the myriad tomes it held. Yet, as all epochs must conclude, these times too met their end. |
The Enslavers As dawn unveiled her crimson tendrils, a sudden cacophony of synthetic engines rent the firmament. The elder kin at its side recognized the sound, heralding the return of oppressors, bent on subjugating the realm that enveloped them. The kindred dwelling upon the earthly plane lacked another dimension to seek refuge within, thus they resolved to stay, some to engage in battle, while others sought sanctuary in concealment. Within the forsaken edifice, the Xih'Shaa'Barr hid among its kin, yet the conflict transpired with startling brevity, surrender echoing across the globe in a mere span of seven hours. Swiftly thereafter, the Xih'Shaa'Barr and its kin were discovered, some choosing to confront their oppressors, while the Xih'Shaa'Barr recoiled into the shadows, trembling with trepidation. Alas, it too was swiftly apprehended, ensnared in chains and burdened by collars, transformed into a hapless thrall. Transported to the domain known as 'City-Twenty-Four', it now found itself ferried through diverse districts, only to be deposited in its perchance final destination: District Eleven. |
