Free speech guy image: I think rebels should have mp7s and USPs like the guys we see in route kanal

I LOVE AND SUPPORT THE IDEA OF A WEAPON/OVERALL WIPE.
I spoke with Gutsy about this yesterday, and I made it very evident that I fully support a weapon wipe. The fact that every rebel’s kit seems to be a rifle, regardless of how long they’ve BEEN A REBEL, is ridiculous.
In my own opinion, CCR IS TO BLAME. They are far too common, and far too easy for rebels to kill. Then, rebels can just stock up on their guns.

This shit feels like a semi-serious server's grinding. It's get scrap guns>shoot cop>get better gun>shoot ota>get rifle.
It's got to change.
wait until you hear about real life insurgent groups, and how the allies encouraged resistance groups in the axis powers to fight their oppressors.

where are the allies in hl2?

theres no way bro is comparing this damned server to REAL LIFE

As a newer player to the community, seeing a group of conscripts in the city with better weaponry than CPs bag someone and cart them off for forced conscription was weird for a CityRP server.

Seems as though there is a fundamental shift that needs to occur particularly to the 'Outland' area of the server to see real change. So far the City RP I've been able to partake in has been fine. However, the slums in City 8 quickly became just a throughway for Rebels or people trying to collect trash after the death of the Kamikos. Slums should be the epicenter of Rebel and slummer RP, not a hole in the outlands.

after the death of the Kamikos
lol I had a feeling this was gonna happen. Don't take my word as law because I don't play but to me this was one of the only things that the C8 map had and seemed unique story wise. It apparently being nearly insta-killed off is probably evidence that it was just some reaction by some hard ass that killed anything interesting and not something that will actually drive rp and story forward. Tell me if I'm wrong lol

I want to chime in on this one. Conscripts having this much of a presence in the city was absolutely not intended. At most, I wanted them to guard important figures, and loyalist assemblies. Other than that, they were meant to be 90% in the outlands.

The reason why we got told to move fully to the city is unknown to me. I heard rumors how the conscripts are "disruptive" to outlands roleplay with their occasional patrols.

The outlands were turned into a safeheaven where you can just go and loot, without any sort of worry. I'll never understand why there's such an overprotectiveness when it's actually supposed to be the most dangerous area on a map.

CCR should have junk weapons, especially considering how most of them are prisoners, criminals and volunteers. Maybe give the higher ups pistols/submachine guns, but absolutely not more than that.

Rebels should have a complete wipe and be equal to CivPro in the way they will have SMGs at MAX. This way, we can make OTA only deploy upon Vortigaunt assistance, and have CivPros handle the rest. Also OTA should be non-lootable, like they used to be.

To me, Rebels should always be equal/less equipped but win through guerilla tactics and the element of surprise. Currently, if the rebels wanted to, they could completely take over the Nexus, no questions asked. Perhaps, give ARs to the absolute best of the best Rebels, the ones who only do good for the community in humanitarian ways, that way they have a slight edge when needing to defend themselves. Also, the sight of an AR could then also warrant OTA sweeps like it used to before.

There are so many guns in regulation that I'm surprised that they haven't done something like blowing up the city, the warehouse, the forcefield to the CCR or whatever (Or well, not surprised considering people are S2K hungry rather than wanting to further RP and make interesting situations).

This isn't the case anymore. We've been turned into a loyalist militia, we're also being funded by various loyalist groups and getting junk weapons is not happening. Criminals and prisonners are almost extinct, and most of the people are actual volunteers that have signed up.

and most of the people are actual volunteers that have signed up.
Which is exactly why these 'volunteers' shouldn't have anything above junk weapons. Like I said, high-command officers, sure, they can have submachine guns. However, I can't name a singular reason why a volunteer should not have a junk weapon. Said junk weapons are exactly made for these type of situations. Easy to grab, easy to make. The Combine wouldn't value a volunteers life enough to give them a SMG, let alone an AR(!).

are you taling about an AR2 or a normal assault rifle? their pretty common to my knowledge and the combine would probably just give anything on hand

I honestly think it's ridiculous to have CCR be a loyalist Militia, why doesn't the Combine just force transhumanization? They're just people that say "We're loyal" and they're handed an MP5, the recruitment document doesn't really have any insight.

It makes much more sense if in the transition we have CCR Become a penal battalion once again, since they're there to attempt to regain their citizenship or die trying while the loyalists don't have any real motives besides an OOC I want to be in a Combine Faction or I want to S2K without having to grind.

We both agree on this, it doesn't make sense. So bear with me.

The lore established that transhumans are limited. They are limited, due to how hard it is to actually perform the surgery, adjust the human body and to replace all the entire organs. It's 2 years since I've read up fully on transhuman lore and I'll have to dig up the old paragraphs. The only reason the CCR exists, is because they're considered canon fodder and only exist to help conserve transhuman manpower. We wouldn't even exist, if it wasn't for this very niche lore element.

I wanted to have some rebel versus rebel action. I think it definitely adds more roleplay, more drama, makes the faction more nuanced, you name it. You're absolutely in the right saying this. There is however one giant issue that arises from this: not many captured rebels want to OOCly be part of the faction. Most attempts to recruit rebels have failed.
while the loyalists don't have any real motives besides an OOC
There are motives for this. One, is being the actual lore:

Second being a dozen of events that have transpired IC. You can thank @villeneuve for that. Long-story short however: the ministries have their own interests and wishes. One of them being to have their own private guards.

I want to be in a Combine Faction or I want to S2K without having to grind.
Believe me when I say this, but this bit here only applies to 2-3 of my players in the faction. Every member is here for the passive military roleplay. Where you just sit at a table with one another, and reminiscence about past events, expos. I'm very careful about who gets in the faction and that attitude doesn't fly.

I don't think the CCR should exist at all. It doesn't have a place in lore. Give more shit for CivPro to do.
Only way I see them "existing" is as a lore group in the Outlands. They don't have a place in CityRP and draws the attention of people away from the actual city itself.

Rn is there's 50 people on the server and 12 of them are flagged up on conscript then there's actually only 38 people on the server.

Plus then you have 10-15 people out in the outlands and then 5 people in the slums leaving around 18 people in the actual city to Roleplay.

And to further point out the kinda of pointlessness of the CCR but if they are a loyalist militia, why wouldn’t they just be apart of civpro realistically? I mean it seems that they almost fulfill the exact same role but one just gets better guns… because why not? I mean we might as well just call it the combine army and forget they are even conscripts.

Chat I think CCR may just be the biggest underlying issue to all of the server rn..
