This is not a suggestion. I'm not pushing for this to be added to the server since there's better things to do
I got the idea of 'Ration units' instead of just rations from two things: That one announcement in half life 2, and Half Life Alyx's individual food rations.
Ration units would work like a food bank. Food is manufactured by the workforce, and that food is then added to the ration center. Food is then purchased using dedicated ration units.
I've been coming up with a few ideas recently, and this is the most current-hl2rp-friendly one I could think of.

Ration units would work like a food bank. Food is manufactured by the workforce, and that food is then added to the ration center. Food is then purchased using dedicated ration units.
- Every character starts with twelve ration units, for example.
- With these ration units, they can head down to the Ration Distribution Center and redeem their ration units for ration items. These ration items are basic combine-branded and mostly flavourless supplies. Examples would be water-flavoured bars and boxes of calorie paste.
- After a certain amount of playtime, your ration units are increased back upto twelve
- Ration units can be awarded alongside social credits due to extra work for the union and supervised workshifts.
- If a large incident occurs, such as a shooting involving CPs, ration units may be deducted from either the 'block' it occurred in, or from the district as a whole.
- While lower tier ration items will generally not run out of stock and are automatically replenished after a while, higher level items may run out as they are replenished over a much longer amount of time. This is where production shifts come in. Players are assigned to package, label, scan, and weigh every food item that comes in. The result is that a large number of higher tier items are now manufactured and ready to be distributed at ration centers, and the shift organiser logs the results of the production shift which restocks the ration center with that particular item. Workers are then awarded SC and Credits as a general payment for going to their assigned jobs, and ration units. The amount of ration units awarded may vary. While credit and SC rewards are a set amount for everyone, the amount of ration units awarded will vary from person to person
