The whole story arc ended with Casto going home aaaaand..... yea, it's over?
What happened to the futurists, republicans, city24 stuck in between this cool macro lore dynamic?
What happened to the newspaper? the last one was published almost a month ago?????

You guys are missing out on a lot of potential events and lore progression that would make everyone have something more to do or think about and something original to ROLEPLAY about. I hope this is not the end of this story arc.

It crashed and burned because the primary user effectively running the show (who also did the newspapers) went AWOL (due to IRL reasons).

@Merlinsclaw <- That user.

I mean- I'll see about trying to build on the Paris-Geneva-Rome Arc and trying to resurrect the BOE (Newspapers) but there is only so much I can do when there are no motivated users wanting to actually do these things.

Have the BOE host more newspaper writing workshifts. Not only that, but there's like ten accepted articles in the submissions subforum that simply just need editing and to be put onto the newspaper. You've already got enough content for the newspapers

Just ask a few more people to join the newspaper team, the whole department shouldn't depend on one person.

Of course, but I'm not the head of the BOE.

@hawke is. Its ultimately up to him to hire more people to join the newspaper team and if he cannot find anyone (or is not activity searching for people) then everything is left at a stalemate and no progress can be made in that area.

Before the full release started I was gonna run a business that prints newspapers itself, but when starting I was told "No, only BOE can use printers"... that turned out well

Issue is, Merlinsclaw is in charge of the newspaper and appears to be actively avoiding me whenever I ask about his motivation and efforts to continue playing on Willard. He's mentioned in the past he's had work and other obligations which is fine, although I've given him a definitive date for a new edition today by 6PM EST before I begin looking for someone else to lead the faction.

Problem also stems from a lack of good, motivated writers as well. At the end of the day, newspapers are logged forever in the computer archive and while it absolutely sucks not having a newspaper being pumped out every couple of days, I'd rather it be less active than garner itself a bad reputation of being filled with poorly written articles.

Dude, I'd be happy to lead on the BOE Press Department. My whole loyalist char was centred around basically journalism and writing

Personally, I'd love to write newspaper stuff, I just don't like the idea of writing propaganda puff pieces for the Union, this kinda kills it for me. It'd be cool to create or participate in a non sanctioned publication for this purpose, but this is effort, and I'm already investing time and resources into other stuff on the server.

You can.

Hello mine children.

Allow me to explain in a better context for a few people asking about the arc and my personal opinions on it.

I have recently started school and I got super sick (which I was worried was covid, due to my father having it.) But, that isn't the primary reason for the stoppage.

The Arc was intended to have an initial CCA part before expanding to the general populace in the form of an 'Expedition' to Geneva. A group of Futurists would arrive to exert influence and recruit members of the populace.

This, in the end, did not happen. It didn't happen because of the C.C.A part going poorly. Not in a matter of 'it wasn't planned right' more-so the direction players took it. From my point of view, it would've been unfeasible for the Expedition to Geneva to occur after relations broke down between Casto and the local C24 CCA.

I'm a firm believer in player choice. The CCA in this scenario just really really really didn't like the idea at all. Therefore, an expedition really never happened. I floated around consequences to cucking Casto, but it never came to be.

The C.C.A also ordered a shutdown of all newspapers or broadcasts regarding the issue. Alas, no papers or OOC mention regarding Casto that would've been approved.

Anyways, I need to write some newspapers.

This is a super cool sentiment, but the issue that the CCA is entirely admins with the exception of Ron (messiah) and I think Starless, who was not in the CCA at the time. When you really get down to it, this means that an entire citizen-centric arc was destroyed by a small clique of already-empowered players.

Was told ICly by the CA to cease any mention of futurism, so that message was just relaying directives from above. Would've been fine personally with continued mention of the whole thing from the BOE end.

The concern for, as you'd said, an admin-faction to stagnate progress was there from the beginning. Unfortunately it did happen, and the magic crystal ball told me that if it did go ahead it was likely to get shut down or turned into a generic riot event which I didn't want.

It's sad to hear an entire server storyline was cut short by 4 people (being it ic or ooc).

The problem of people trying to win instead of making good roleplay still exists unfortunately.

People in senior positions in the Combine side of the server need to understand that they can auto win very easily by setting up some laws and conditions, but that it's bad for roleplay. You have to let things play out, especially on characters that are whitelisted with power for a reason.

You can shut down the entire loyalist storyline with a few laws pulled out of thin air. I'm not particually happy that almost every storyline that I've created on this server has been nuked by CCA, either CPRD or the Rome-Paris arc have been severly damaged by this highly abrasive behavior.

Honestly if this keeps going I'm thinking of discussing with the CM's about deploying the nuclear option. You know what I'm talking about.
