Relocation Over Amputation

Simple. Instead of just doming a character when it comes time to amputate them, have them relocated to Nova Prospekt.

"Why?"
Because amputations are boring, dead ends, and are just another pointless tradition carried from old HL2RP servers. A relocation allows for the following:
- In the event that a character is un-PK'd (circumstance or staff decision), that character can just be sent back to the city after a "long imprisonment" or "heavy questioning". No voiding required.
- The character to live on in general. The player can then go on to make any story up as to what happens to them after. Do they turn into a stalker? Do they escape Nova Prospekt years later? Do they eventually die? Are they still imprisoned to this day?
- A more involved end to a character. A bullet to the head is nothing for a CP unit but everything for the character. To say that a character instead is sent off elsewhere for fates unknown is just a better narrative and fate than "/me shoots you in the head (PK btw)."

There is literally no downside to this other than "But I have to r-roleplay more when ending a character :("

Meaningless fluff? I have no issues with this.

I have no feelings over it whatsoever, it does nothing to the ooc balance after all.

I actually like this idea. I'll bring it up to the other leads.

I understand the concept of having the characters able to still live but cannot be used in the city but the whole premises of how the Combine Reign is that it was very controlled and harsh that the system required absolute control of the entire humanity and if any individual poses a possible threat that can hinder the progress of the Combine's mission, they would want to weed it out and erase them completely as if they never existed.
I don't know if this is still a thing but there is an Ateria Arm Conscript punishment that settles Red Tier violators into the Penal Battalion but that alone is still death seeing that the battalion is utilised as cannon-fodder to either test the strength of the enemy, overwhelm in numbers against the rebel and so on. And there is a possibility of being Stalkerised but only certain players are selected if they display creative roleplay when playing.
In my opinion, have the characters that don't display any use in the roleplay environment get amputated seeing their existence wasn't exactly important in the first place and have those who has a rep in the social system be taken to Nova Prospekt if the punishment is deemed worthy.

Artery arm boys are held up in some event I think, it's not entirely clear what's going on with them. However, the concept of them as a punishment is underrated and should be used more often.

A decent sounding idea, though I would expect Amputations would still happen since in the end this is the combine occupation and committing crimes isn't exactly "light".

Lore reason would dictate that NP has limited space and NP isn't actually the place you would send anyone either simply because C24 is quite far away. So it would have to be a different facility entirely unless they would randomly do a long ass trip which will take 3+ days to reach.

But ignoring Lore and Logic for a moment in regards to space and worthiness. Generally speaking, NP is for those who are actually worthy of interrogating and such and not to mention, going to NP is pretty much 100% death anyway. It's basically killing a character but with extra steps. From what we see and hear in the game, anyone going to NP never comes out, and when you get there... there is no prisoners because they are all dead, stalkerised or have even become OTA.

Which is part of what we already follow anyway since we do send some people to NP to come back as stalkers later on, or on the very rare occasion use it to send Char A to become OTA.

As for using it in killings, we can do so but it would be very hard to lay out what qualifies for amputation, what qualifies for NP. Since there has to be that distinction or you end up with a bunch of people being sent to NP which lore team may look crossed-eyed at simply because that is a whole load of people going to NP over some pretty weak shiz. I always thought NP being a place for some serious offenders or those with some high-level knowledge of rebel bases/locations or other intel which the combine want to wipe out the resistance.

In the end, what I am saying is you are still killing a character but with extra steps. This is another one of those things where it sounds great on paper, but can very easily go south if not handled correctly. This will need quite bit of care to implement and clear conditions for what qualifies for someone being sent to NP or some other facility and what qualifies for someone being amputated in the Nexus.

In the end, Overwatch leads will discuss and see what's what.

In short, I am neither in support nor against it. I am just neutral with my own points of concern.

God I kind of wish we had the D47 Nova Prospekt map on server so you could actually go there maybe have prison rp. So it's not just an "Oh I went to NP for five years ect."

Or a CWU Sponsored Gulag/work camp where you at least get to do backbreaking labor rp like breaking rocks with OTA Guarding over you and punishing the smallest mistake.

It's a shame the AA Had to be so short lived.

However I feel most of these punishments or soft pks should be reserved for either HVT Resistance members who either got captured and spilled actionable Intel in exchange for their life or really good role-players whose characters have contributed to the story.

Always thought that the idea of "No prisoners" was a very odd lore decision for the combine anyway

After leads discussed a little, we have noted that this already exists in the form of a labour camp which players can go to as a form of non amputation method of ridding of someone. Its just that is rarely gets used by any CP. Whether they don't know it exists or not is its own matter which we can remind them of but for the most part, there is the idea that amputations will still very much occur.

HVT resistance members also get special treatment whereas they are sent off to a special facility as a method of PK'ing them vs the standard old amputation. So there is that.

One thing we did also note is that generally speaking, we don't consider ever sending bad Roleplayers or nobodies to facilities. However, there is the option of simply relocating to another city if one commits too much crime and loses enough SC to be sent off. But Amputation will probs remain as a main method with other options on the side which are currently present already.

In short, this is not really accepted or denied. But more or less that we have it implemented partially already and that there is some circumstances available that grants someone a more RP'ed method of being sent off then the generic amputation.

Honestly, making Red Tier shit relocation instead of an amputation makes more sense. I never liked the idea that resisting arrest gets u killed.

Black Tier violations should be the only time to amp someone.

Doesn't it say in the CP handbook that detention is a method reserved for interrogation only and the available punishment escalates directly from beatings to amputation?

I support this big time. Being relocated instead of merked is always going to be better for writing and storytelling purposes. That being said, units should still be allowed to amp under certain circumstances. Things like not wanting the criminal to receive medical care, or certain crimes such as murder and what not. Though, I think the discretion of amps should be left within the command of the MPF

Few red tier crimes = sent off to do labor or some shit in a camp
Many red tier crimes = killed, havent proven to be useful and are just a pain in the ass
Few black tier = same as many red tier
Many red tier, few black tier = alright uses, send off to some minor prison, get them set up for combining or just kill
Many red and black tier = extra alright uses, could probably turn to our side and infiltrate, or turn to a soldier or just kill, rather the first option.

What? How does doing even worser crimes make you likelier to survive?

Already a thing although doesn't happen that often. This is pretty much in the hands of CP/CCA/OTA to decide on their own whims. We wont be OOCly enforcing it across all factions replacing amputations though, not everyone wants to write up basically a mini event thing for where they go and such..
