I’m sure we all appreciate the members of the administrative team; they help us when we need and resolve our issues. They plan fun events for the server and ensure we have a good time; however, I need to stress that some ‘events’ simply ruin events that players have planned.

I understand how sometimes spicing certain things up by means of introducing a rogue element such as a rebel can be fun, but this is detrimental in several factors, not only for players but other aspects of the server.

No, it’s not fun, nobody enjoys these types of events. You’re ruining the experience for players by being destructive to player created events that are going on.

Today we had prepared an Assembly meeting, a large one, we had prepared speeches and an agenda we wanted to push and had prepared it OOCly for some time, it was part of greater things to happen. We’re going to allow an audience inside to allow people to watch to assist in improving CityRP.

But then waltzes in the Admin Rebel, waking towards the Nexus with their asspulled explosive, ready to enjoy a good time of ruining roleplay. And ruin he did, he gets shot and when the CPs inspect the bomb it goes off and kills a few people.

The result was that the meeting (Which was already delayed by an hour due to the crash), has now been suspended and is probably delayed for an entire week due to scheduling constraints. It seems that Admins don’t consider how their actions are detrimental to other players at all… which is a shame.

This isn’t the only instance when this happened, the Loyalist Banquet is another example, I have a feeling this was done just because we allowed an audience inside, we do our best to improve CityRP and get punished by it?

I think this thread should be used to form an internal discussion with the staff team on how events should be ran, and that things like these should be prevented.

I’m sure other people can voice their complaints in this thread.

I will just say that the Assembly was suspend by yourself. Everyone else wanted it to continue and I hear from the OTA that they told you it wasn't going to be suspended.

with that being said, thread moved to the correct section. General Discussion is not for complaints.

You moved the thread to a private forum, move it back. No one can see it now.

Yeah this is meant to be public so others can give their input on the "event".

No one in their right mind was going to continue or attend a meeting after a bombing happened. It's simply not safe.

Exactly, it simply does not make sense from an IC perspective. Things should have consequences

Completely unnecessary event that ruined what would've been an incredibly fun intro to the new assembly.
Back when we bombed the old Loyalist Housing, the process to make the bomb took weeeeeeeeeeks of work and a coordinated effort of multiple people + auths to get it done.
This was just pulled out of someone's ass last minute as a funny "interruption" of the assembly and it got the entire event cancelled. Even without hindsight, it should've been known that setting off a bomb in front of the Nexus would've cancelled everything. And on the first day back, that's really just a stupid and greedy thing to do for a couple minutes of excitement.

Made the thread public again. People should be able to give their opinion on this.

Event might've gone to shit, we might've stood around for an hour for nothing, but i took a funny screenshot and that's all that matters

Jokes aside, everything that needs to be said has already been said. No gripes on the admin team. But this "event" was just... Bruh.

With all this talk of 'freedom of roleplay' you'd think that staff would leave it to players to freely attempt and commit these attacks? Why should rebels bother coming out of the woodwork if admins are going to do all the work? Helps no one.

edit: shouldn't lump staff as one big entity, whoever did this needs a talking to

I feel like admins should be allowed to make events, but they should always be second priority to player-run events. What happened at the assembly should not have come to pass, it's prioritization of an admin's fun over player-led RP which should be unacceptable.

Hi all. Did some digging for everyone, and I have the answer you're looking for.

Yup, what you all saw there was one particular problem that wasn't directly impacted by the event's design or the issue of writing up an attempted bombing. We wanted to symbolise that the city and its security were not so adequate and that everywhere is able to become a danger zone, and given that everyone IC was to get something of a magnificent launch with the Assembly, got stalled by one problem: human error.

You see, the plan was never to let that bomb go off. According to the staff involved, it was made very clear that it wasn't to be put to an explosive end. The bomb was to be defused, or ultimately malfunction. I believe that during these proceedings where we were all lying down on the floor (yes I was there IC too, man in lab coat with white hair whispering), we were impacted with a sudden impulsive movement of someone's decision making in the heat of the moment.

I spoke with the staff, and I get the overall impression was that to not happen at all with the creative assembly still being on the big to-do-list of activities regarding our relaunch.

The common belief between everyone in this thread and out of it that very much disliked the event - which was very evident in the LOOC chat - was that the bombing did not need to end everything set up for the day. The eventeers got ahead of themselves and went in slightly overconfident believing their "big blast of an oh-shit moment' will mark something of a looming shadow over things that could be expected in the future.

Instead, we got... well, that. So you know, General Assembly was something I was superbly looking forward to, as well.

TL;DR - Creation Team had it under control until someone went and let the adrenaline rush get too high and typed /event 'da bomb eXpLodEz and kills DAH CP!" ... which the event team didn't want at all, and there was a bit of an argument after. The General Assembly never needed to be cancelled nor have that done to it. Plus the overall feeling evaporated after, and the magic was blown away.

The Creation Team and Staff wish to extend their apologies for the failure of today. Shame one mistake ended up souring it.

PS: No it wasn't my event.

Before I go to sleep, I feel like I need to shed my two cents on it.

I was the admin who did the /event of the bomb exploding. The reason for this was unfortunately a very bad misunderstanding and also my fault for not paying attention to slick when we were both on Discord. He's specifically mentioned to me that he didn't intend for the bomb to actually go off; it was just meant to create suspense and look threatening, not actually do any harm.

The unfortunate turn of events was then simply me having failed to properly interprete what slick tried to tell me after I was almost done typing me /event, just not having understood him clear enough that he didn't want it to go off, because he had asked me in Discord if I could oversee it and handle the explosion if required, though the mistake of letting it blow up when it wasn't meant to is entirely on me.

Gotta' own up to your mistakes, and I made one tonight, in grand messing it up for a lot of people considering the IC response of cancelling it is an IC security measure, regardless of the OOC feedback.

My apologies folks, this wasn't intended to go down as it did. Good night.

Why is every creative team member's /staff's choice of event a bomb as like, the nr.1 thing we must do to "make a good event"?

Anyway, still do not see why we couldn't have just had the assembly and a tad of citizenrp with the whole city. But hey, the admins apologized ❤️

Admin Rebel Event > Civ RP gets punished by Combine > Backlash as Overwatch deactivates RDT for Six Hours.

Honestly, if this was not a mistake made in bad faith, why didn't we just void the explosion and continue with the event? I don't really care for the immersion of /actarrest'ing for 10 minutes being broken, I just wanted to see the Assembly for once.
