I made this post because just plainly out of curiosity so let's leave it at that. How do you all currently feel about the Civil Protection faction? In regards to their behavior or actions In-Character within the current Willard setting? Do you think they're too nice, more relaxed, etc.

It would be better if I was accepted to it

Jokes aside it's pretty good rn but I wish CPs were... a bit less responsive, for minor things, if that makes sense. I get that CP players are sometimes action deprived but petty squabbles get fucked TOO quickly.

I see you what you mean on this. A lot of the players in the faction, even I am guilty of this, go over the top to hunt down one dude for a minor thing. We shouldn't prioritize people for blue or maybe even a few orange infractions like as if they are a danger to the entire city.

Recently I tone it down a bit and hope I and others can set an example.

I feel like some units are too damn nice to be units. They should be kindergarten teachers or some shit. Especially the female ones. Mainly the i5's and that.

CPs should oppress you so hard that you should learn to respect them because of that. I seriously don't wanna see CPs engaging in friendly and "everything's fine" conversations with citizens. This should be enforced more, I have seen IC mingy behaviour from some units and it really makes the faction seem like a bunch of retards. I'm sure you get my point. Discipline and adherance should be enforced more as an improvement that the RLs can get started on some units.

As a HL2RP community wide CP main, my outlook on this is that some CP players are deviating from what a CP is supposed to be. They're taking it like they're playing their citizen char with a pistol and a baton. Initially, that's what CPs are. But it's a whole force thing, and i'd like to see these points held up to standard.

To conclude, CPs on the server are too nice. I'm not saying they should be robocops, (i2+ kinda are encouraged to) but they should maintain a passive aggressiveness of some sorts.

There seems to be a good balance mostly. Only real issue I would bring up is that there is very little difference between being Underclass and being T6 in the eyes of Civil Protection. This isn't really a CP problem though to be honest and is more a system issue, with loyalism not mattering much at all. Though it can partially be attributed to them.

CP behavior discussion no. 456 now on record

let's get it going again, boys
Next post is Transhuman Arm deployment limitations and complaints thread no. 28137281. >:)

Oppressing people = earning respect. Don't know about that one, chief. I agree we are a bit too lenient. I'm assuming it all started for the sake of City/Citizen roleplay and allowing them to thrive. And from there the faction has just been seen in good light by citizens. Seeing the officers as someone they can just approach with ease and not so much as keeping their head down and trying to avoid as much confrontation as possible.

I'm sure we'll find that balance where we can be the oppressors that we are meant to be while also allowing citizen roleplay to thrive in the current setting.

Civil Protection and Tier six loyalist interactions are very minimal from what I've seen. The way I see it, our current Civil Protection officers don't care if you're a loyalist or not. Anyone can be a rebel sympathizer. They're actually more annoyed that some certain loyalists can get away with a few things that a citizen would normally be punished for.

They should all be crucified and burnt alive (I'm an MAA main)

A lot of interaction and the behaviors of CP can pretty much be tossed into the manage the issue IC as it is an IC construct sort of deal. The argument for whether there should be a policing on CP behaviors or general mannerisms is something that should, in my own opinion, only be taken if a larger group of people inside or outside the faction find a certain behavior to subtract from the RP potential of a faction. In otherwords, if someone is being too nice or too harsh, thats an IC issue, and parties should be more allowed to collude how to deal with the issue IC, or at least more aware that they can plot and plan things to deal with it accordingly.

Aside from a better understanding that units have the power, in greater numbers, influence other fringe behaviors inside the CP faction, the only real OOC observation on CP behavior should simply be fairness to players. To elaborate, if a behavior could justifiably be taken IC, but has excessive unfairness to a unit or groups of units, then an OOC justification should be made as well. Wording this is a bit difficult, as naturally, every issue is different. I don't know what sorta issue the CP's have since I'm not part of the faction, but I bet in Willard history there have been times where debates over unit demotions, rank and NLR related things have been disputed, etc. I dunno, maybe just a suggestion to think on.

To get back to the core question... The only issue I've seemed to have with CP's myself from an OOC standpoint is:
Jokes aside it's pretty good rn but I wish CPs were... a bit less responsive, for minor things, if that makes sense. I get that CP players are sometimes action deprived but petty squabbles get fucked TOO quickly.
CP sensory deprivation is understandable after completing your 4500th lap around the victory square and taking 40 minutes to stand outside Triumph in /actstand for that duration.... I can understand this a bit. CP's arent always initiators of RP, thus, a lot of their interaction with other factions and citizens is not, in fact, themselves. People shit on CitizenRP and all that all they want, but CPs are, without saying it bluntly, discouraged from being the main initiators of RP unless they have good reason to. Their faction feels oriented to reaction more than initiating their own RP. The solution for this is hard, some might say "You are basically saying you have to give the CP's more jobs to start, but isnt that the job of XXXX?" And you would be right. Dividing priorities and delegation of tasks is always a conflicting thing and generally a back and forth.

Again, my knowledge is limited since I am a set of eyes outside the CP, but maybe there could be a little test by giving the CP's more tasks to do, or essentially, upgrading the workbench to do more things or add some other event that is managed by CPs that allow them to have a justification to do something after their 6000th lap around Victory.

I don't know, you asked for some suggestions, this was what I could muster in mind. Some of these might have already been suggested long ago and tested and failed, but hey, it never hurts to refresh some things.

All I can think of is regulating beatings a bit more. Giving a actual reason/verdict that wouldn't deduct any SC instead of it just seeming like some CPs are actually bloodthirsty.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the HL2 universe is fucked but I've been randomly beat a few times with no reason other than sociostability being hindered and CPs wanting to show the cane, and going to CMU about 'random beatings' too often is somehow making them suspicious of me and it all drags the situation down when I'm trying to get a loyalist character.

But, this is all probably just my own experiences and doesn't ruin the game for me at all.

TLDR
A named verdict for random beatings that elicits no real SC punishment to add a bit more legitimacy to them and remove doubts of 'edgy cp' or the like.

I think civil protection are to nice and to open about themselfs, I don't mean as in past life (partially that as well) I mean as in social conversation, I wish civil protection were more dark and evil in a sense, or at least more dangerous. As I find them a little too friendly.

If I'm reading this correctly. Are you asking for reason as to WHY you're being beaten? - To be honest with you not all Civil Protection remove SC even with a re-education. There doesn't have to be a reason. Literally any officer could pick you out of a crowd, beat the ever living shit out of you. Toss you back. You can't do anything about it.

There doesn't need to be a reason behind everything. Some characters are just assholes.

Some are. Some aren't. It all depends on a few things.
1. Time of Day
2. Population of Server
3. What events have happened prior

The argument for me personally about how soft some stuff in Willard is kinda does fit, but at the same time, if you wanted everyone to be super strict or also super by the book, then it becomes less a story telling thing and more a newbie CP constantly leaving another window open on the browser to look at the rules and protocol and the whole process is more of a job than anything else. I haven't had an issue with how CPs have been acting so far, because ICly, I've witnessed what happens when CP personalities crash.

I don't think there should be a 'mass enforcement of CP behavior'. I think IC'ly the CPs have a right to act how their unit would be. We have already had IC spats between units and their conflicting personalities recently, and honestly, thats what you want from that. A lot of things also depend on population, activity, and the general temperament of units online.
