Willard Political Rework

I have seen maybe two and a half people actually online out of the 23 different paintings that exist. "Legacy" isn't an excuse either, as I'd reckon the Union rewrites the past as they please, and having those things lying around is just a liability.
if you're referring to the wall of loyalists, that is something I made of my own volition and naturally is prone to biases as I choose the people on it.

Intermingling with Commoners shouldn't be dissuaded, agreed. Personally don't find many issues with doubling down on the LA being a venue for political power, since if played right, it could greatly empower concurrent Tier-Fours & Tier-Fours, but as stated earlier, it can seem like a monotonous task to partake in for some.
The authors of the document have come to a consensus to efface this part of the document. Will be done later today.

political stuff is never fun and thats the reason why it failed before on the server, have you ever seen a purely political game? no? because its not fun for anyone involved
Subjective opinion

if I see the F word even once anywhere if this passes I'm gonna start banning people
not joking btw (casto is dead)

I think the only thing I like in this is the fact that ascending to Tier 4 would have a clear path with people in charge of reviewing appeals... but I know 200% letters will just be ignored and it'll be even more ridiculously hard to get Tier 4 regardless of how much you work at it

I'm gonna say something extremely important and you should all read it clearly

We don't bring back politics

Yeah because politics and video games dont mix. This whole thing has already fell apart at the seems before so nothing will change with this "new" system, people will just get mad at pixels haha

Previous iterations caused OOC hate and vitriol because there was an active effort to stamp them out OOC and brand the people who had any legitimate criticism against this fact as bad-faith actors who's opinions were ignored at the highest level (as confirmed by one of the former CM's, Swagile, on Steam).

To have something on this scale again would require an overhaul that I just don't think the community would stick to long term even if by some miracle you got an inroad. There's too much pushback to the idea and even when things are introduced they're often heavily stonewalled either via IC or OOC. In fact I reckon it would last a few months at best before someone in management gets tired of it and axes the system entirely again and a bunch of people end up unhappy and/or banned.

I probably sound like I'm shitting all over this idea but it was made abundantly clear many times of what the majority of the team think of politics on WN, justified or not.

Yeah. Most of the bad things happened because of bad OOC actors. They know who they are but most have left the community by now tbh

Tier 4 isn't a path for everyone, and becoming Tier 4 isn't that hard.
You need a few vouches, send in a letter, it gets processed, you get accepted or denied.
Like how Intention 3 is the end for most CP players, Tier 3 is the end for alot of citizens, Tier 4 members must be valued to the community and not any person that simply wants it

From an IC standpoint, I don't really see why the combine would enable anyone to adopt any sort of political beliefs other than what they currently have, it promotes disunity.

From and OOC standpoint political RP *can* be fun, certain radical political groups (like futurists) could serve as antagonists to citizens, which could create RP, but that usually gets shut down pretty fast after they start doing stuff that destabilizes the city.

If you want interesting antantagonists for city characters, making gang and crime RP easier would be a good way to do that, I miss the days when brutal gangs of blue suits terrorized the slums (it hasn't happened on V4 because the slums has too much of a combine presence and any interesting crime RP is shot down before it can get off the ground)

always took it that ideologies could be pro-union but have minor differences on how things should be ran

ala:
- some parties like human science, other parties hate human science
blah blah blah, you get it

The "getting a few vouches" part isn't hard, I got tier 6's to support me, the hard part is "send in a letter". I guarantee letters as they now work almost exclusively get ignored by everyone you may send them to, it's extremely unreliable, that's my gripe with it. Getting to Tier 4 requires hard work and connections but if you have both and you still need to go through a system that yields no results you might as well permanently bar it off to any new loyalists and ensure no one ever goes that route again

EDIT: ...But then again, at least we'd know of an actual process to even send in a request for Tier 4. Currently it's magic, I have no clue how it gets processed, there is no information anywhere on the subject. Do I ask a specific person? Do I send in a letter? Do I show up at the Nexus? With your system there'd be actual people to talk to regarding it, but if it's via letter I don't think it'd work well with the current way letters work.
