Smarter Bandits

Ron was also a high-tier loyalist who routinely risked his ass tbf. In fact it was only literally two weeks ago that someone said "I could have shot him dead as a high-tier collaborator but I didn't" on the forums.

Killing loyalists who wander into a hive of criminal activity with their allegiance on display should be kill worthy. Its common sense. Yes, I know there's the argument to be made about RP and being fair, but there's also a point where loyalists need to take responsibility for walking into the slums with an armband and fancy suit on and expecting nobody to take issue.

You could be a reporter. Why should I just let you wander around eavesdropping?
If you're worried about people 'eavesdropping' on your conversations, perhaps pick a better, more private location. Or even whisper so it's less likely people will be able to overhear your conversations.

I find it hilarious that Civil Protection actually have more of a tolerance for people who fuck up than Rebels who'll just kill someone "Just because they're a Loyalist", because CPs understand that people can look like a Citizen, but they also need *evidence* before making a judgement call on somebody who could be affiliated with the Rebels/Resistance.

Killing somebody who is dressed liked a Loyalist doesn't mean anything. The amount of "Loyalists" I remember seeing on other servers who were still anti-Union is baffling, but Bandits will kill someone simply because "Loyalist bad", such poor form and a waste of an RP opportunity.

Note: I am saying all of this from the perspective of someone who has primarily played Combine-alligned characters across my time on HL2RP. I have had rebels before but they're not what I enjoy most.

I mean, it isn't just about overhearing bad things. Its about everything that goes on in the slums that could get people killed if it gets reported.

In fact, Loyalists didn't used to be PKable for coming into the slums, but I'll give you one guess as to why that very quickly got changed (hint: its because they started using this immunity to report people for illegal acts which caused cops to patrol/sweep the area and it got so bad it was crippling any sort of illegal activity in the slums).

Except there's no ambiguity there? If you have an armband on or wear a fancy suit you've made the effort to become a loyalist - doubly so in this community where gaining points is, more often than not, an intentional effort. You really need to work to even get a basic armband on WN.

By contrast, smart rebels have zero identifying marks by design, so your logic doesn't hold up.

And I can't walk into the city and kill a Loyalist without reason, because that would be stupid as they're playing it safe. If they decide to risk their lives and go hang out in a shady slum surrounded by criminals? Yeah, that's on them. Likewise for rebels in reverse, I hold both to the same standards on that front.

Those Anti-Combine loyalists you see elsewhere usually fall into one of two camps; either people who hate the Combine but use it for their own gain, or they're well-respected rebels who're leading a double life to leak info (which takes time and effort so they don't get killed doing it, not just walking into the slums).

But otherwise? Loyalists are actively aiding the Combine. They are literally expected to be their eyes and ears, to sew mistrust. That's why they're pushed to report, and that's why calling it "poor form" and "a waste of RP" when the slum dwellers don't accept them is silly.
