Turn off bleedout godmode for overwatch.

As of now it is near impossible to execute an overwatch soldier in a fight without taking out the entire squad first or running into their line to drag a downed one out to finish them.

Meanwhile, OTA are able to revive themselves with meds they applied to themselves a minute prior and repair their 100 armor for an instant +100 HP on top of being literally invincible when they drop to the floor.

As of now, the only way to secure the kill on an OTA is to risk yourself to drag them somewhere and execute them and pray the GM nearby isn’t combine biased or to wipe the whole squad before they get back up.

OTA are Not characters, and as gr4ss said, throwaways should not harm developed characters. So give rebels a chance to actually finish OTA off if you’re gonna let them get back up after being downed.

I would like to give my opinion on this, and I apologize if this is not exactly the right place, but; I think OTA are overused as fuck. Idk how much retconning occurred when writing the faction, but it doesn't feel high stakes when you see them. YES, IT IS TERRIFYING. Let me clarify that, the OTA when deployed are extremely dangerous, and a force to be afraid of. However, you don't feel like you deserve to fight them most of the time.

You should feel like you either beat the Combine in some way, and therefore OTA must respond or the consequences will be way too dire..
(A good example of this is when the OTA + strider + heli deployed to attempt an attack on the infestation, a bad example is 4 OTA sweeps in a row in the sewers, realistically for no reason other than to justify red socio, which, side bar, but wtf?)

..or you failed/lost/fucked up in some way in an important way that justifies OTA deployment to punish you for it.
(A good example of this is Gunship/OTA deployment when a vital plutonium shipment gets blown up, and causes radiation to threaten a city, a bad example of this is sending in an OTA sweep because cops are being killed in their sewer sweep)

I would encourage disagreement if anyone thinks my statements are incorrect or don't follow the server's vision, but OTA ARE NOT CHARACTERS, as someone has stated above me. So, related to the original post, any slight advantage that OTA gets through gameplay mechanics outside increased stats/HP/better weapons SHOULD NOT EXIST, and honestly I think rebel/CP characters should get more leniency when it comes to 'abusing' gameplay mechanics as they actually have something to lose.

Dying on OTA means nothing, the faction purely exists to make harder enemies. To sum up this rant, I would say OTA should be hard and scary, but not frustrating to play against. I have not fought a large enough quantity of OTA soldiers personally to fully grasp what would exactly need to be changed, but the server has felt the effects of some of the transgressions listed, and I think we would all be better off with some slight tuning. TY

why arent OTA permitted to roleplay like characters? people keep saying they aren't characters, so I kinda want to understand

because they're tanshumanized, turned into lobotomized machines biologically programmed to kill and follow orders flawlessly.
They're basically like npcs now

^this^. Basically just brainwashed to all think the same. The only char development you can somewhat have is on grunts as theyre still somewhat human, but also undoubtedly compliant to the combine

alright but just because they are transhumanized, that does not exempt them from roleplay, right? they should be allowed to... roleplay the aftermath of being transhumanized. how is any of this enjoyable for either side?

because its an event character faction. for events. not for roleplay

Technically they have the capability to. Only there are little opportunities because you flag on just to kill rebels and die. And when there are opportunities, they simply don’t do it

all it takes is one person to start roleplaying it and it goes off away. I have seen people roleplay as transhumans perfectly well, not in a complete robotic state but not in a complete human state either but a mishmash and that is what a transhuman is. okay, yes, the combine altered you and performed surgery on you for you to be physically and mentally capable of combat, stress-inducing situations as well as to shrug off things on the emotional side. that does not mean your human and personal spirit withers away and completely vanishes and dissipates. it may be difficult to roleplay it, but that is why the faction is rather high-standard or at least should have a high bar in terms of roleplay standards or expectations

Regardless of the intricacies of the faction, I was moreso referring to the rules of OTA, and how the faction works. You don't lose ANYTHING. No ranks, barely any character development if any at all, NOTHING. The faction is 100% meant for s2k interactions, which is fine, but then why are people playing like you're a CP rank leader who just got PKed and demoted? It makes no sense and even though you can argue that it is cringe OTA doesn't RP, we should try fixing the problems with the OTA first before adding more to it, IMHO.

I have been talking about this in Discord, theyre massively overused then balance team gives all the rewards for wiping a few waves of Pure OTA 15k chips. This is then given to a single person who gives it to a single group, there's no Dealers as they have been told by the balance team to go on Hiatus. If Balance team does not want the Rebels getting a hold of Over watch Equipment stop throwing legions of OTA at them.

I feel like right now they are being used as a Zero Risk to the Combine due to CP's having consequences if they die during a sweep tool to use against rebels. Who are unable to anything about or, or gain anything from it. So it feels like a cop out and using the "Safe" option on their behalf.

Wow, theese are some great videos of HL2 Deathmatch! I love the music. :angrycop:

don't put willard networks combat in the same sentence as HL2 Deathmatch, it doesn't deserve to be shit on like that

HL2 DM is a classic and deserves to be respected

Bros… they already practically denied this. Ur arguing amongst each other whilst the Willard council sit on their CCA event characters and consume champagne scripts. Useless…

tru

just lock this thread instead of giving ppl false hope

proof of ota reviving themselves and returning to combat while rebels follow the no return to combat rule 💀

Yeah. I agree that OTA should either also follow the rule to not return to combat, or simply be allowed to be killed. one of those, as there is no rule in the rule section that says OTA can do it and other people can not.
