THE YEAR IS 2274.

THE VAULT IS DYING.

2 YEARS OF FAMINE HAVE DEVASTATED THE VAULT'S HARVEST. THE FUSION CORES POWERING THE VAULT ARE LOSING POWER, AND NONE ARE LEFT TO REPLACE THEM, AND THE WATER PURIFICATION CHIP IS BROKEN. THE VAULT WILL NOT LAST MUCH LONGER, NOT WITHOUT THE EFFORTS OF IT'S DWELLERS.

YOU PLAY A GROUP OF VAULT DWELLERS, TASKED BY THE OVERSEER TO VENTURE FAR FROM THE VAULT, TO GO OUT INTO THE WASTELAND AND TRULY SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING OUR THERE... OR ANYONE THAT CAN HELP. ALL YOU HAVE IS MEAGER FOOD SUPPLIES, SMALL ARMS, AND DETERMINATION.

YOU HAVE 35 DAYS TO FIND:
THE FUSION CORES
A NEW WATER CHIP, OR REPLACEMENT PARTS.

THE WORLD OUTSIDE YOUR VAULT IS FOREIGN, THE DANGERS THAT AWAIT YOU ARE UNKNOWN.
WILL YOU BE ABLE TO MAKE IT BACK TO THE VAULT TOGETHER? OR, WILL THE WASTELAND DEVOUR YOU, AS IT HAS DEVOURED ALL ELSE.

START DATE: TBD.

ROLES AND PERKS
As per VAULT-TEC regulation, each Vault Dweller must have a designated role within the vault, and have their own specialized hobby. The wasteland has many dangers and opportunities that may require a specific set of skills some people may or may not have.

IMPORTANT. READ THIS.

ROLES

1715450036276.png

DWELLER (1/INFINITE)
You’ve spent the majority of your life inside Vault 14. You usually do seasonal jobs, assisting with hydroponics, janitorial work, and other things.
You’re just a standard laborer, with no clearly defined role within the vault.

1715450141633.png

VAULT SECURITY (3/3)
Trained in small arms handling, you’ve spent your time in the vault keeping the peace, and ensuring the Overseer’s will is obeyed. In your training, you are given rather meagre small arms handling training, but rigorously trained in how to operate melee weaponry.

PERKS: VAULT SECURITY TRAINING

latest.png

HANDYMAN (2/2)

You’ve worked in Vault Maintenance ever since your apprenticeship. There’s not a lot of people such as yourself around any more, which makes you a rarity. You’re a near master in almost everything related to tech.

PERKS: HANDYMAN

1715450335598.png

SCIENTIST (2/2)
In your youth, you were a naturally gifted student, with an interest in all things related to the vault and what the world was like before the bombs dropped. When you came of age, you were given the role of a Vault Scientist. You have been rigorously trained in all there is to know about pre-war tech.

PERKS: HACKER

OVERSEER'S REPRESENTATIVE (1/1) (EXPEDITION LEADER)
You’ve served as the representative of the Overseer for quite a while. You’ve been specially trained in how to maneuver social situations effectively, which significantly increases your own charisma. You’ve been assigned as the expedition leader!

CHARACTER ROLE:
Vault Security
SELECTED PERKS(S):
(Vault Security already selected), Power Armor Training
CHARACTER BACKSTORY: (2 PARAGRAPHS MINIMUM)

A bright and upcoming Security Officer, Terrence was part of a well esteemed family from before the war. His Grandmother being a successful politician whilst his Grandfather a career officer within the Armed Forces, deployed out on fighting the COMMUNIST THREAT. Born safely within the vault, Terrance was shaping up to be your run of the mill officer, courteous, polite and respectful to his fellow dwellers. However, despite being born into a well off family, he was plagued with a constant desire to explore and study the outside world, spending a majority of his time within the archives, studying and reading age old documents, burying himself within the pages and entries into terminals of the old world.

After successfully being enlisted into the Vault Security forces, Terrance began his career, the constant patrols, making sure things were up to VAULT-TEC STANDARD! Terrance settled into his position, the monotony occasionally broken with the rare rad-roach break in, something quickly dealt with with a bullet from his side arm or being squashed beneath his boot. His job being one of duty and service, with his spare time reflecting on the world torn to shreds by nuclear fire. It wasn't until he began to rummage through his descendants belongings, discovering relics from the old world. His Grandfather's old military equipment, his Grandmothers old political scheming's and a manual. A manual detailing the running and handling of a suit of T-51b Power Armor, an American bulwark against the threat of the Communists from time ago. Terrance began to study the manual, treating it as a prized possession, he spent countless nights absorbing the information, learning the intricacies of the armor and it's accompanying frame, eventually gaining the knowledge to pilot the suit, despite never having piloted said suit before.

ANDRONICUS CREEDMORE

A man born out of ideals. Androncius was the prodigy son of Abraham and Serah Creedmore, with his father being the Vault Chaplain while his mother a book-keeper for the local library. At an early age, he initially found friendships sparse as he gravitated towards the intellectualistic side of the Vault. While kids his age played baseball and tag, he spent his days with his mother in the library as he read books on all sorts of wonders. It was not until his father brought him to the church one day to help with the Annual Vault Food Drive that Androncius learned the importance of having a reputation with people.

Andronicus was set on making his mark in the world, and he hoped it to be a good one; lest he let down the two most important people in his life, his mother and father. In his teenage years he juggled with his studies and outstanding academic record, aswell as tending to the sick and elderly alongside his father in hopes of making the Vault just a little bit better with each passing day. He talked with those who were often cast aside in the Vault Status Quo, such as old people who had no family left to be with or young orphans who were dealt a bad hand in life. Soon enough, Andronicus became the local talk; with him becoming a shining example of an exemplary Vault Dweller.

Once he took the GOAT, he was slated to become a Vault Scientist. His brilliant mind helped to liven up the workplace, and he made great companionship with his peers. This didn't stop his side-hustles, in which he still assisted around his father's church whenever he wasn't cooped up in the laboratory. One day, though, tragedy struck the Vault and they were rendered Overseerless; and as protocol an election began. Many of Andronicus's peers believed him a suitable candidate and egged him on to run, and so with their guidance he campaigned to become the next Vault Overseer.

For the next couple of weeks, he became the talk of the entire Vault; and people loved him. His speeches were elegant, his demeanor professional, and his policies profound. However, he was much too young; and he lacked what his opponent had, experience. Because of this, he lost the election by a hair; but his story didn't end there. His opponent, the newly-elected-Overseer, saw the potential Andronicus had and reassigned him to Secretary of the Vault. A major step-up from his prior disposition, he worked directly under the Overseer in an internship to build up credibility for the inevitable next election should one arise.

Andronicus's parents were ecstatic at this opportunity, and he was rather pleased himself. Even though the day-to-day paperwork and tasks as Secretary was menial, below the intellect of Andronicus, he found himself coming in to work early every morning and leaving late. He felt he became close to the Overseer, a valiant opponent during the election turned 'mentor' for Andronicus, and hoped to take his place one day and continue the chain of success in Vault 14.

However, things became a slippery slope as the Vault slowly began to die. Andronicus, through rose-tinted glasses, saw this as no fault of the Overseer... but wondered what could be done to solve it. It was clear the Overseer saw great potential in Andronicus, as when the expedition team to venture out to the Wasteland was formed; Andronicus was personally chosen to oversee it. What Andronicus lacked in survival skills that would be needed in the Wasteland, he made up for with his exemplary reputation and silver tongue; which was unanimously agreed upon by the Vault Council.

Andronicus accepted this mission in hopes of finding respite for the Vault, and this expedition being the first-hand experience he will need to hopefully become Overseer later down the line...

CHARACTER NAME: Anais Belacqua
CHARACTER ROLE: Scientist
SELECTED PERKS(S): Hacker, Intelligent
CHARACTER BACKSTORY: Cold steel and rampant uniformity are the only things tangibly things that remain burned into memory, from her very first breath, to the long nights with nose buried in book, to the hydroponic beds of her later workplace. The world beyond the walls of their concrete sarcophagus is simply unimaginable, captured only in the pictures of their books, and in the fruits of her labor: Flora.

Born to one of the larger families in the vault which, whose prewar status as prominent socialites and local politicians, lives on to diminished degree, held together with commitment to their newfound home and continued allegiance to the Overseer. While many of her brothers and sisters would see themselves finding prominent positions within the domains of Security, Maintenance, or more mundane services directly tied to the Overseer and the greasing of the vault's bureaucratic arm.

Though groomed from a young age to land a spot with the clinic staff, the interests of Anais had never laid with healing and mending the sick and lame, hours spent instead cataloging all the books of vault had to offer of the world above, dreaming of a world with skies overhead and trees of green. The hydroponic farms draw her in like moth to a flame, the only real tangible glimpse to a world long extinguished, and inaccessible to her.

Few were surprised by her posting declared by the G.O.A.T, and though not entirely impressed her family begrudgingly came to tolerate their daughter abandoning doctoring for botany. Though working in the place she had come to love, few other shared in her passion, a fact she would grow to resent-- None cared for the beauty of their work, merely the yields it produced: Should they sprout a tree, they would not care to see it blossom, only cut it and make furniture out of its wood. Come the famine she would work tirelessly, splicing crops in attempts to further yields to mixed results, though with the prospects of venturing out to the surface to find a solution there, Anais laps at the opportunity, hoping the surface may still hold life that could be brought below, and assure their continued survival. An opportunity to see what had become of the pictures in her book, and an opportunity to see whether it could be fixed.

CHARACTER NAME: Brighton Bigsley
CHARACTER ROLE: SCIENTIST
SELECTED PERKS(S):
HACKER, MEDIC
CHARACTER BACKSTORY: Descending from an affluent Family in the Nevada region, well known among the scientific cliques of American society in that region for their studies on regional wildlife, and whose subsequent importance landed them in a vault, spared from the nuclear Holocaust that would cause the collapse of civilization as we know it, Brighton Bigsley has more than taken to his family’s interests, particularly in the field of biology. From an early childhood Brighton would eagerly pay attention in the vaults scheduled classes, and would spend much of his free time indulging in the sciences, particularly benefiting from the vast troves of stored documents taken by his ancestors in an attempt to ensure their scientific legacy would survive. These documents, in combination with his commendable work in his school life, would serve him well.

Of course, as doctors are so often needed, his studies extended to the anatomy of the Human body, if asked he could list any organ and describe it’s function, and more importantly, how to apply such knowledge in a practical way, fitting his status as one of the vault’s resident doctors. Though he was well versed in human anatomy, Brighton would find himself attracted to a variety of fields involving the various forms of life that had flourished before the world was bathed in nuclear radiation. Entomology, Ornithology, Herpetology, and Mammalogy were all subjects he prided himself on for his considerable knowledge in, though many would often comment at the lack of practicality of such studies, and a term he had often found himself labeled with was the much dreaded “Overachiever”. Despite this, his knowledge in the medical fields more than made up for his interests in fields most had considered pointless, after all, surely most of these creatures were dead, right?

Eventually, the vault would find itself faced with the inevitable conclusion that an external expedition was needed to ensure its survival, a mission which Brighton would sign up for soon after it’s announcement. While his stated reason was to ensure the safety and health of his fellow expeditionaries as they ventured to the scorched wastes above, his true reason was to discover the state of life in what was left of the world. Sure knowledge of pre-war ecology was interesting, but it was an inevitable conclusion that such lifeforms would either have died or been forced to adapt, and documenting such changes would surely place him among the greats, and allow him to be a true successor to his families legacy.

And so Brighton leaves the vault with his fellow dwellers, though he leaves with dual purpose, besides…

It’s not like anyone else survived to document this, right?

CHARACTER ROLE:
Handyman
SELECTED PERKS(S):
REPAIRMAN, HACKER.
CHARACTER BACKSTORY:
Senior Maintenance Technician Ridley Jones has practically made a second home in the guts of Vault Fourteen. A poor socialite since birth- they've grown to prefer spending time with machines over people. Having spent the better part of fifteen years working to keep this overseer-damned vault shipshape, and finding the poor thing to have lost the use of its' water chip, Ridley's decided to see personally to its acquisition and subsequent replacement.

Ridley's been known to be a thorough worker, but has hardly ever attended standard Vault Meetings or banquets. The few 'formal' celebrations they've attended have only been birthdays-- And they stopped attending them after age eighteen. Most of the vault's administrative staff have found little worry, though- as they've never once let a maintenance request go un-checked.

All-in-all, Vault-Tec has flagged Ridley Jones a perfect candidate for surface exploration. A strong loyalty to the vault, and the know-how to fix it. Albeit strange for Vault-Tec to allow such an excellent worker to leave the vault- their immediate request to join the team- and their backlog of excellent work- offered the Overseer little reason to decline them.

CHARACTER NAME: Brighton Bigsley
CHARACTER ROLE: SCIENTIST
SELECTED PERKS(S):

It’s not like anyone else survived to document this, right?
accepted.

CHARACTER NAME: Ridley Jones
CHARACTER ROLE: Handyman
SELECTED PERKS(S): REPAIRMAN, HACKER.

Accepted.

CHARACTER NAME:
Elliot Dumphfrey

CHARACTER ROLE:
Handyman

SELECTED PERKS(S):
Power armor training (I wanna be Maximus), if not allowed, then locksmith

CHARACTER BACKSTORY:
Born to a family who was most famous for their security work in the vault, Elliot decided to stray from the tradition and lean more into his love for mechanics, hydraulics, and all the wonders of engineering. He learned all he knows from Gilbert, a man he considered his grandpa even though he didn't share any blood bonds with him.

Gilbert and Elliot met early in the latter's life, Old man Gilb-o was asked by the teacher of the Vault to show off his profession to the kids, trying to spark any flame up for the chance of getting more handy-men. Elliot simply fell in love with the whole job, and from that moment on, he spent every single afternoon after his school-time helping around Gilbert around his workshop. The two formed quite the bond, and soon after graduating the GOAT, it was obvious that Elliot was destined for one and only job... The Security Officer!

The poor boy was distraught, he had his hopes completely destroyed cause of that stupid tradition that his family held on for so long. His mother, Brittany, was a fierce believer in such traditional rite of passage, but seeing her child like that simply didn't sit right with her. Therefore, she spoke with the Security Chief and the overseer, coming to an agreement to let Elliot start his apprenticeship as an Handy-man with his tutor being Gilbert.

In more recent times, with the Vault becoming nothing more than a simple metal box... Elliot tried his best to help his family doing whatever he could to find any kind of nutrition. From boiling toilet water and eating radroaches, to even licking condensed water on mirrors and windows and munching on the furniture's leather. It was just too much, and something just snapped Elliot when Gilbert passed due to the extreme conditions.

The boy came to a decision to end all this, and when he heard about the scavenging party, he simply couldn't not join it. He prepared his tools, his trusty jumpsuit, kissed his family goodbye, and headed out with his fellow dwellers in search for ways to save the vault.
