A Maybe Too Honest, Too Unfunny, Too Weird Critique of Willard's Roleplaying Environment, Mindset, and Community/Gameplay. 5/22/2024

Wow. You’ve really captured the essence of the situation. Of course, I can't agree with all the arguments because I haven't been in some factions yet, but you have a good perspective on this server issue. Interesting role-playing is really crushed by these "proper behavior" rules during the game. This rule has a better application when it comes to OOC. In that case, no one wants to be called the "N" word or fascists. During the game, normal conversations among people with different views would be more interesting.

I also think that the lack of some game mechanics makes no one pay attention to various situations created by their characters, thereby rejecting the sense of playing on an RP server. For example, if someone fought with OTA and got hit by a few bullets in the leg, then surely no one could walk normally. In such a situation, another character would pretend to treat the leg even though the healer doesn't have any proper medical resources to treat the leg. All they will use are regular bandages. Then the injured person will pretend not to be able to run for a short time, but when it comes to a fight, they will suddenly start running despite the injuries. Maybe my explanation is not ideal for the overall situation of feeling RP during the game, but it illustrates the Play 2 Win problem.

Many people, including myself, have suggested creating an injury system to enhance the medical treatment system as CMRU or as an ordinary person, but it would also create many interesting situations for role-playing, as a doctor or as an injured person. (I don't know how long or how difficult it may be to create such a system. I'm not a programmer or anything similar, but I like Blender :3). There have also been other good ideas that can enrich the game on many levels in this way.

(If someone has already mentioned these same problems before, I apologize, but I read these essays in the comments selectively). :yudodis:

I'll continue to make and reinforce the claim that RPing injuries sustained in S2K scenarios for a longer period of time than a quick 'ow, that hurt' is an unrealistic expectation. I don't want to be alt walking for hours on end or on a medical table each and every time I decide to get in a confrontation. In short: medical RP is ass nine times out of ten and I am glad the scripts are quick and easy to use to get back into gameplay.

It's well known that nobody would want to lie on an operating table for hours. It doesn't have to be something like "I really have to lie in bed because I got hit in the back with an axe." It doesn't have to be a real or very long recovery time through others or on its own after performing specific actions to treat those wounds.

Healing wounds can be as long as, for example, the effects of taking various substances, and that's already a long time and could only depend on the category of the wounds. For instance, the most severe wounds might take 15 or 20 minutes to heal and could be shortened after bandaging or stitching, and some effects like blurred vision or inability to run would be temporarily mitigated after taking painkillers, adrenaline, or morphine, but this would have to be a very short duration.

And after taking these medications, the effects don't have to occur immediately. This could be managed this problem with time.

being able to heal from going into bleedout by spamming painkillers and bandages is ridiculous

We're aware of the circumstances missing that should be provided by a missing medical / surgical entropy on the server.
That is planned, and it is also down to M!NT and his team to create that.

healing from a single bandage after getting lit the fuck up is not good gameplay, narrative or realism
That's not how it works, you're at low health for quite a while and the healing rate isn't particularly the fastest in the world

at most 30 mins if u use bandages wisely

at most 30 mins if u use bandages wisely
Also, when I do med-rp people from bleedout, people commonly only use two or three scripts at most, if more were used the CMRU would actually be the biggest expenditure in the combine

That's still quite a while, and has your side have to get people moving them (makes them extremely vulnerable), etc

If the numbers of deaths were accounted for on server, humanity would be extinct

if I wanted realistic medical in PVP id play tarkov
wanting a semblance of realistic roleplay as opposed to /me applies script to wound is apparently suggesting that we should add tarkov systems

I simply don’t think the outcome of a shootout should be based on who packed more bullets and flinstones chewable vitamins in the four bags they have on their person

Willard characters must be
superhumans with how many assault rifle bullets they can take and survive.

Well it's not based on that, it's affected by that - It's based on OOC skill

Rebel RP is more than meets the eye, since, just living in the slums and vibing there with people can create fun little stuff. I have dyslexia and also I have THE STUPID, so while Im not Shakespear, I try anyway.

I RP a Uprising Vet from another city, who has Trauma and while still a Rebel, is uneager to fight due to his IC reasons. This is why, he partakes in cooking, and cooks and makes things for People of the slums, hell, he even is the one who organises the Public Table.

And yet, I still talk with people, vibe with them, provide things, give cooking lessons and shows, and so on. I find being a Rebel Cook and kind guy, who can fight but is traumatised, and fishes, more fun than being just a shotcopper.

We all make our stories and chars, and it is up to us how we make them. My char may not be the best, but he is mine, and he has given good moments.
