Look, this is getting out of hand now. The massive system of cameras upon cameras all over the map is now at the point of becoming ridiculous. Everyday i walk upon the same streets. Seeing some Admin fly around 'OOC' putting up more cameras all around the place without any RP whatsoever. At the beginning of the launch, the entire camera situation was relatively alright but still abused. But right now... This is becoming wayyyy too much. I understand we live in an Alien dystopia, but this power hungry surveillance shit is really over the top.
And have anyone even been thinking about the poor Vortiguants or people who are BOL? There's literally more surveillance down in sewers than there is on the surface. The camera abuse down in sewers was so bad that it covered the Libirated Vortigaunt spawn and instantly tagged upon spawning. Not only did it block off sections of the sewers but it also resulted in it becoming unaccessible to some Vortiguants or BOL-targets without causing a sweep. Imagien a new player finding himself down in sewers... Isn't the Xen creatures dangerous enough? Spores? Constant Sweeping and cameras covering every blind spot and entrenceinto sewers? Like....Seriously? People are IC breaking cameras in sewers and on the surface because we want them gone, and acutally IC remove them. Yet they get re-booted during a restart or 'OOC' spawned in by admins flying around once again. The thing is that, cameras are placed in such a way aswell that they're covering a large area of space which itself just 'doodoo' at this point.
There's literally 1 camera in each room in the CWU. Covering pretty much every single thing in there. Adding up to probably 6-8 cams alone in there, which is already too much...
It's understandable to have cams in the plaza, but even here there's an unecessary amount of them. Cams at the CWU entrence, cams in the middle of the plaza, cams in the elevator at plaza leading to sewers, cams pretty much all across the streets. There's literally 5 cams alone in the public part of the ration complex. Probably more that've missed. I'm not suprised if they put cams inside the Biotic housing.
D4 was a relatively cam free spot to actually do some skeetchy shit, but today i noticed more cams being set up around D4 by an admin flying around. Quite literally ruining the whole skeetchy vibe possibility. Might aswell turn D4 into main plaza aswell as checkpoints are being set up inside the small tunnel area leading to d4 which i also want to mention being guarded by a camera.
It has gone so far, that cameras are being placed inside the slums, covering vast spaces...Wasn't dispatch enough surveillance to begin with? For a brief time, there was literally forcefields placed infront of elevators. And combine Bio-locks placed ontop of the ladder doors leading to sewers. There was literally no way to get into sewers until people started to complain about it.
And the worst part ain't even done yet, as there's literally more surveillance and cameras covering the sewers. Espeically the entrences. To be honest... There has to be around 40 cameras placed all around the map if callculations are correct. Anyone at this point can see that the surveillance system is abused and simply ain't fun. "Hah! I saw you on cams trading a knife, time to pk."
