Background Information
The year is 2001, the new millenia had just started and the cold war is fading away into the past. Everything seems somewhat peaceful. In Romania, a group of working labourers at the dock go to their daily job, and today is a special day. A shipment of important goods is supposed to enter into the docks and the boss wants everyone working at their hardest to get these goods onto the trucks and delivered as soon as possible. He even promised a pay rise for them all. Spring is coming to an end and the summer is about to roll in. Surely nothing can go wrong?

• *Brief summary of the character: Matej is your run of the mill grunt-turned-captain. Knowing what it's like to be at the bottom rung, he leads from the front and always looks after his men.
• *Why do you want to play this character?: I would like to have command and give orders for once, rather than take them.
• Full Backstory (Optional): As a lieutenant in the military during the communist regime, Tokic knew first-hand the incompetency and brutality of Ceaușescu. He was deployed in command of his platoon with the rest of his brigade to Timișoara to quell the rebellion but had no idea that it would devolve into violence. He, along with his platoon, were ordered to fire upon their own countrymen. This left him badly scarred, but this was not the end for him. Further violence escalated after Nicolae left to Iran. After the horrors in Timișoara, he was sent to Bucharest where he would experience the same gruesome story again. Unarmed men and women of all ages, crushed beneath treads and riddled with bullet holes. The breaking point for the Romanian military was Milea's assassination. Along with his entire brigade (as well as the entire Romanian military), Tokic defected to aid the rebellion against the Romanian Communist Party. The rest is left to history, after which the 12 continued years of faithful service to his country led to his promotion to captain and command of his own Company.

*Brief summary of the character:
A Middle Aged Officer, slightly apathetic and rule-stickler, and a little gung-ho. No hesitation comes when its deciding the safety of himself and his men, though bizarre situations tend to make him nervous.

*Why do you want to play this character?:
Now this looks interesting. I'd like to give this one a go, mostly because its as fresh take for me with a whole change of scenery and situation. Why the Romanian Army specifically? I'm more the kind of person who plays characters with guns than know how to act scared. Generic? Yes. Cringe? Probably. Do I still want to play this? Yes.

9th Mechanized Brigade "Mărășești" (Brigada 9 Mecanizată "Mărășești")
341st Mechanized Infantry Battalion "Constanța"

Alecu Tamas, born in 1960, to a relatively simple person who grew up in the City of Constanta to middle-class parents who weathered the storm of the Cold War, though not unscathed. The scars of Communism often led to rifts between social classes, Alecu often found himself getting into fights in school between what he viewed as generic "Uneducated Individuals." Though this would mostly leave him in a situation where he fell out of favour with pretty much everyone. His parents? They could care less, leaving him apathetic to them.

Academics essentially weren't for him, signing on to the Romanian Land Forces as soon as he could, he essentially became a career soldier. His early adult and mid-adult years passing through with little incident in Socialist Romania, though the hard line Communist stance often had him uneasy. Alecu has an Infantry-Fighting-Vehicle license on his track record, along with going through an Officer Cadet School in his later years nearing the end of the Cold War.

The End of the Cold War was rough. Though not a hardcore Nationalist at all, Nicolae Ceaușescu's botched speech caused him to join the Tidal Wave of the Romanian Revolution, joining the many defecting soldiers from the Romanian People's Army to the National Salvation Front. The Communist Government would soon collapse, Nicolae Ceaușescu executed and Democracy instituted.

The next decade were uneventful. Modernization, democratization, reforms, stamping out of Communism. Were they impactful? Important? Yes. But Alecu simply cared little, continuing his job, finally getting his Officer Commission by 1995, after the military was finally stabilized after the decades of infighting and destabilization by the Communist Securitate Department.

Nowadays, he finds himself stationed at the local garrison in the Constanta Region, part of the 9th Mechanized Brigade, 341st Mechanized Infantry Battalion. In-charge of a small squad of infantry guarding the local port facing the Black Sea. By this point at 2001, Alecu is 41 years old. A recent promotion to the rank of Captain giving him a bolster to his paycheck and responsibility, and maybe his pension for the future.

The Future however, has different plans in mind.

And i feel like i would be able to portray this very well in this character

Andrei Danescu​

• A beloved captain within Romania's land army, famous for leading the "Bandă de frați" a group of soldiers who defected against the Communist government of Romania, he helped assist in aiding injured civilians around Bucharest. After the revolution ended in 1990, him and the rest of the soldiers where not charged for their defection. The government instead awarded them for their noble acts and the battalion was awarded the Virtutea Militară medal for their service. Danescu now is a decorated and well trusted figure, it is his duty to protect Romania and it's values.​

During his time in Romania, he learned the Romanian language and got Romanian citizenship. He plans on earning enough money to migrate back to Hungary and reunite with the remaining members of his family

  Fruntaş Andrei Popescu is relatively new to the military, he is seeking to rise up the ranks of the Army and someday lead a platoon of his own.

• *Why do you want to play this character?: I would like to play this character as I strongly believe I can trust myself to not screw up, and I have some relevant experience in various games. I'm passionate about army stuff, plus I am Romanian so why would I not play in this event?
• Full Backstory (Optional):

• Andrei Popescu had been born on February 21st, 1980 in the Social Republic of Romania to Maria and Stefan in the city of Ploiești. He also had a sister, Alexandra, whom he lost contact with after the war. He was brought up in a communist block like many other children at the time, and his mother was a more regular parent figure than his father, who worked day and night for the People and the Country, making himself an useful citizen for the regime. Nine years later, when he was well over 9 years of age, approaching 10, in the December of 1989 - he was watching the whole revolution and the downfall of the Ceausescu family on the TV with his family, he didn't seem to understand what was going on... In reality, the whole country that he was living in what destabilising, and fast. The people were sick of Ceausescu's treachery, and gathered in the centre of Bucharest to watch his speech one last time. A week later after the event, as his family was celebrating Christmas, Ceausescu was declared dead on the news, and the whole country was cheering. Shortly after this, Romania, along with the Dissolution of the Soviet Union, became non-communist for the first time in 45 years. After the Revolution, he started his high school studies and worked hard to get a good passing grade upon graduating. His parents were very proud of him, and when he turned 18 he had joined the Romanian Land forces. 4 years later, he had been promoted to the rank of Fruntaş after having completed 4 years of service since his basic induction training. The photo below shows him deployed in Afghanistan, 2000, as a Soldat. He aims to be an admirable young man with ambition. He believes that with hard work, comes great reward. He has very vivid plans for the future, who knows what he'll be doing 17 years from then? I hope not living in a Combine-Controlled city...

• Full Backstory (Optional): Virgil was born and raised in Bucharest, when he was an adult he ended up racking up a large amount of debt to one of the local mafia groups after a very unlucky gambling streak, he enlisted in the military to hopefully either escape or pay off these debts

• Full Backstory (Optional): Sebastian was originally born in Bucharest with big dreams to become an Executive Manager for a large corporate company. However, unexpectedly his family had decided to move to the nearby area that the event takes place. He had many objections to this move, which were promptly ignored, and he lived a lot of the rest of his life in annoyance. He stopped caring of his school, and did poorly due to it. Soon his Executive Manager dreams were but a distant memory, and he dropped out of school at 16 and left home at 18. He's been wanting to move back to Bucharest, but he never was able to make enough money to actually do this. He's been living in a small cramped apartment, and got a dead-end job as a security guard. He's been assigned to the dock gig to make sure nothing bad happens while the laborers work, and he hopes the extra pay will help begin a savings fund to head back to Bucharest. All in all, he just wishes he could go back in time and fix the mistakes he caused in his younger age.

• What's your favorite thing about Half Life?: I like the large contrast and escalation between the 1st and 2nd game, like how it goes from an alien invasion in a facility to an empire taking over the entire world and enslaving the human race.

• *Brief summary of the character: A decently well-established man that serves his country like any other under or above him. He's fairly relaxed and withdrawn until the time to get serious becomes necessary.
• *Why do you want to play this character?: As someone who's in the US Army, I quite enjoy military characters as I can actually play them with some level of realism. Even before my service, I understood them, just not to the extent that I do now. I think it'll be a good opportunity, and a good way to chance pace from HL2RP.
• Full Backstory (Optional): Born in Cluj‑Napoca, Alexandru was not poor nor rich, his family able to maintain him and his siblings comfortably. Their lack of a lavish lifestyle, and the necessity of work meant that he and his younger siblings spent their days when not at school working in the community, usually just giving a pair of small hands to their parents' friends who owned businesses, like helping with cleaning, for a few Leu. Apart from an easy developmental life, he had quite little happen in his life.. he maintained his health, never broke any bones, didn't smoke, hadn't even gotten married yet. Upon becoming of age, Alexandru opted for military service rather than going into a college field when he graduated from the school system into adulthood, where he now operates. His days as a younger enlisted, he met a young lady that, in only two years of knowing her, would call his wife, not fully understanding who she really was until the veil came off and she could start taking over his life, manipulating him for her own gain. When he became a Sergeant, her demands grew greater, and he further continued to spoil her, because he loved her, and didn't quite understand the exchange that was going on under his nose.

• Tell us about yourself: I have experienced thousands of servers over thousands of hours of being on Garry's Mod, and roleplay ventures outside of it. I enjoy performing detailed medical roleplay, engineering roleplay, and militarized roleplay. I also have grown quite fond of being a mischievous birb character, in recent history.
• Are you new to Willard Networks?: So-so, but a straight answer would have to be yes.
• Are you familiar with anyone around Willard Networks?: A couple fellows who've changed their names so many times I hardly recognized them until recently.
• What's your favorite thing about Half Life?: The modularity of the story. As a key developer stated, the story is built around the idealogy of the player who plays it, adds to it, and takes away from it respectively. What happens elsewhere outside of City 17 is purely up for speculation, and making that story is what I love most. My best memories of all my roleplay career, inside and out of GMod, has been placed firmly within HL2RP since OpenAura and Cloud Sixteen, from playing Civil Protection, Transhuman Arm, Rebel, Citizen, Loyalist, and Alien of all kind.

• Full Backstory (Optional): Bodin Petrovic was born on May 8th, 1955 in Serbia. Growing up in Tito's Yugoslavia, the policies of market socialism presented a unique opportunity for the young Bodin as he began to work for a local steel production firm at a managerial level. Through a combination of nepotism, skilled maneuvering and a few bribes which nearly bankrupted him, Bodin climbed up the ladder within the firm. By ruthlessly exploiting every opportunity granted to him he very quickly came to assume the position of director and set about subtly reconstructing the company to realign itself towards one thing. Profit.
  
  Bodin used every dirty trick in the books to keep his "fellow workers" and government officials from realizing they were being duped. Blackmail, fraud and his signature bribery were all used extensively, however he knew that these measures wouldn't work forever and more importantly, could not sustain him if he went even higher. So when the 1980s economic crisis hit he quietly slipped away into retirement until things settled down, having spent the past several years stockpiling his wealth in fixed assets like gold, having predicted such a crash long ago.
  
  But things didn't get better. The economy lay in ruins for years and tensions skyrocketed. Seeing the writing on the wall, Bodin quickly sold any assets he couldn't move and made for the newly democratic Romania in 1990, seeing an opportunity to expand and thrive.​

• Full Backstory (Optional): O'Brien started off working on Wall Street in the early 90's. His father was rich, and his father before him was even richer, and the chain kept going on all the way back to the early oil fields of the U.S.A. where generational wealth came to be.​

Nepotism became a key role in O'Brien's success. A degree at Harvard in Finance and Business Management carried him along of course, but he started his first job on Wall Street far above those who had been working far longer. Why? Because his father just so happened to be the CEO.

If he wasn't already before, he had now become greedy for more. Handed everything in life made him wish for his own self to reach his own success, his own wealth. It seems private investing was the way to go for him. And he was good at it. He just so happened to be traveling to see a shipment in Romania, a frigid hell he came to dislike. However he was sure the pay was worth the torture.
