Yesterday, the Civil Protection checkpoint in the slums, housing the auxiliary units was spontaneously attacked by a (player) rebel wielding two incendiary grenades.

For some reason, all containers in the checkpoint were immediately deleted. This has never happened before for any base raid, which leads me to consider the possibility of potential OOC bias against the auxiliary units.

Whenever a rebel base gets raided and "destroyed", the containers inside have always remained and were considered exempt. Players were able to rebuild their base via a small material fee and they would be able to go back to using it as before, containers still inside. Why was this Civil Protection checkpoint treated any differently?

After being given context as to how this came to be, we were given clarification that the checkpoint and the building it was in were leveled to the ground by two (very easily craftable) incendiary grenades. The building also apparently being coated in some weird BRI fireproof asspull coating which I won't get into because I think that's stupid regardless of whether or not it's true, was allegedly ignored. Now, the argument we received was "Raging fire destroyed building. This is what fire does lol" despite not a single CWU Member being on the server to assist during that time.

And this is coming from the same person who argued a suitcase bomb IED, which took a considerable amount of resources + a char auth, would just barely be enough to destroy one of the generators in the city. And the CWU repaired that in 30 minutes time1665613443366.png
(see https://willard.network/forums/threads/generator-repair-speed-dead-by-daylight-moment.7107/ for context).

But two lowly incendiary grenades are enough to take out an entire CIVIL PROTECTION CHECKPOINT for 5 DAYS?

The repair time we were given for the checkpoint was 5 days. This is an insanely long time for damage caused by two ridiculously cheap incendiary grenades which I know for a fact certain rebel groups, including my own, have in abundance. This sets a dangerous precedent if two of them can take out an entire building for nearly a full week.

Apparently, Rabithunter sent a player to destroy the checkpoint on behalf of his event character. The event character wanted the newest, most active RP hub on the server destroyed for unknown motives, and made a player do it on their behalf. The destruction was then GM'ed by the same person who gave this "quest". CPs responded to the attack, and saw the rebel in question break the lock, but were forced to retreat all the way back to Triumph because of arbitrary timescale.

This is no different than an admin rebel randomly deciding to nuke a building for the sake of it, but because the admin rebel can't do it themselves, they make a player do it instead.

About a month or so ago, a member of my own rebel group organized an attack on the same place. They had to write a character authorization to be able to do so, and they had to invest a copious amount of materials into creating an IED, and despite flawless execution, that attack didn't even do a fraction of the damage these two little grenades did.

This feels like a slap in the face to anyone who has written a character/RP Authorization in the past to be able to do bombings or attacks like this when it can just be done whenever provided an event rebel wishes it into existence.

TL;DR: Admin rebel makes player rebel destroy the most active and newest RP hub that had only existed for 6 days for no apparent reason, removes everything inside, and makes repairs take 5 days to complete.

It seriously feels like BMD events aren't controlled at all, and can be used as an excuse for any admin rebel to do whatever they want, provided they simply tell a player to do it for them, promising some obscure reward for doing so. It circumvents the auth team entirely and as far as I know, they weren't even made aware of this.

That’s kinda the problem, isn’t it?

You see, we don’t allow players to craft IED’s or any other large explosives using the crafting menu in order to prevent people from blowing up anything they want (unless they have a special forum auth to make these items for that specific bombing).

However, you have now set the very dangerous precedent that this same thing can be achieved by two mere level 30 firecrackers which can be mass-produced by any established rebel in no time at all.
On a useful reply from my end though.
Question, in retaliation to Union 2 dying the other day, CPs went and fire bombed HB3. About 6 incendiaries were thrown and no one stopped it.....
Does this mean HB3 should be in repairs atm for a week..?

From my POV it was admin driven; you guys set the terms and dished out the punishment. Plain and simple; you exacted the judgement in the form of every destructive act against the outpost after all. Funded it, supervised it, and are now proceeding to defend it.

"As for it being an "event" at 2am, since it wasn't prompted by admins it was not an event."
Because you loopholed it. Congratulations, you found a flaw in our precious text-based roleplaying gamemode ruleset by declaring a 'quest' that YOU made as a spontaneous action taken by a player (THAT YOU CREATED), and therefore not an event and thus not subject to the rules.

"And by prompted I mean, no day nor time were planned for when it would happen."
Makes sense based on the poor handling and our subsequent response based on what was carried out like an admin-backed, authorized event, but was treated like a player-thing without any of the accountability nor adherence to the rules of the server.

"It was left entireley in the agency of players when it would happen."
They did your dirty work for you by operating through the methods I have listed above and you have performed accordingly.

"It's unfortunate that 2am was the timezone of the attacking players but we cannot fault a player(s) for having a different timezone to the majority of the CWU."
I love that you said this. You basically read all of our minds.

"Unlike CP's, there does not need to be x amount of CWU on for a crime to be commited."
I think you will regret saying this regarding how deeply involved CWU is with basically every destruction-RP event.

This is honestly the most bullshit I have ever read. You are basically accusing me of deep levels of malice here. I don't have anything to gain from doing any of the things you think I did. Get your facts right and stop spouting hearsay. I told you how it is but you still continue to hold true to your theory.

Should actually. If i was online i'd have done so.

Fact of the matter is @Pandafish you're being rather toxic. I barley GM'd, I assisted by adding some flames and posting one thing, I wasn't in control. As for my other involvement it was done entirely ic on my actual rebel. I got given a job, decided to hand that job down, funded it myself and picked the method, then gave the job out.

I am an extremley neutral admin and wasn't even the one pulling the strings here yet you feel the need to direct all your frustration onto me? If anything you are gonna make me bias after seeing how salty and toxic CP aux get over RP.

Your loophole theory can crawl back up from the asshole you pulled it from frankly, mate. As i stated before, you do not need auths to throw grenades, even at a checkpoint. If I did this without BMD promting, guess what? I wouldn't need an auth. Do it with BMD promting? Still don't need an auth. Please explain to me better what you think it is the loophole actually is because I don't see one.

Lastly, I don't think the GM's were primarily rebel GM's. Two of us play loyalists and do a lot of city-rp yet are labelled rebel admins for being apart of BMD. This ridiculous "taking sides" of Combine and Rebels is not something I participate in. You all piss me off equally tbh. If I'm bias toward anyone it's the based city rpers who just play the fucking game without getting their knickers in a twist every 5 minutes. I am quite fed up with the mentality people have to assume malice from anything that wasn't in their favor. But hey, it wouldn't be willard without toxic assholes.

Will add the reason this pisses me off to the lengths it does is because the whole thing seems like a scapegoat to vent all your frustrations onto. Because GM's have been bias in the past, you decided to direct it at me because of a GM (who also wasn't me) made this event and deleted your containers. I agree that the container deletion shouldn't have happend, which I have stated twice already in this thread, yet it doesn't matter and never will. You all want a scapegoat to vent your frustrations onto and I was chosen. But I'm not just gonna roll over and admit wrong doing when I've done nothing but be fair and neutral throughout my entire stint as a staff and GM. Either get down off your high horse crusade and blame the genuinley bias people or get your facts corrected. None of the GMs present for this were involved in the your fire bombings. So It ain't double standards. It's a conflict in what is fair between two separate parties. Quite frankly, if it were the other way around, I'd stand by it. Burn down a rebel base, 5 day repair? Cool.

I think I'm done with this thread now. I'll let all the "righteous defenders of justice" go off on their little rants and leave them to hang in the air like the stale garbage they are.

To my understanding, Rabit made the quest, Liam handed incendiary grenades to the perpetrators.

Done so ic on my rebel. Both grenades aquired through genuine RP. One from a container raid and another crafted. Was gonna use em myself but decided to pay some other people to do it for me.

GM didn't even add destruction, just a fire effect that went away after server restart

Ironically, the fireproof coating was invented in the early stages of WN. Basically in the middle of the server's launch alongside the 16x bit teleportation concept before BRI was ever a thing from what I can remember.

And that it had been applied on several buildings such as the stores, and RDT, but seeing how everyone aged as they did, it got nullified out of its existence because everyone who knew about it just forgot about it. Either way, I might be entirely wrong on all of this but I do remember this being a thing quite a long time ago. @ZeroPants would probably know more to fill in the gaps?

Hello, I'm the person that made that BRI fireproofing stuff.

I don't think it was ever used on this checkpoint, the only places I remember it being used are on the CWU warehouse and a few stores on victory. The whole idea behind the fireproofing stuff was to prevent low effort firebombings from happening constantly (people throwing Molotovs into storefronts and burning down entire buildings with little effort.)

I was kind of upset to see this in the LFC discord, it looked like an event character just did their own event because they got tired of waiting, it just rubbed me the wrong way.

I'm on an event character :*(

Seems people think just because I'm an admin I can't be on the receiving end of an event/mission.

Sup, I was involved with the original mission to bomb the base. It was taking a while to plan out, but it was going to be done by me and a few others. Due to unforeseen circumstances, it was taking longer than usual, and it was ICly picked up by other people. It was not some Liam admin event character who just gamejacked and powergamed a bombing, he actually earned all the materials from it legit and hired help ICly. He just took up where I left off.

Only thing that @Neonity has a point on is the containers being deleted. There is a policy in place to not delete them after a base raid. Don't delete those in the future. But the base bombing was legit through and through.

So wait, if a faction is otherwise unable to do something because their players are uninterested, inactive, or not up to the standard (I reckon it is more of the very former), an admin has to do it for them? What is the point you're trying to make here? Why did this have to happen?

If you had plans to hit the place then you should've gone through with them instead of... Y'know, doing nothing, and expecting someone who is hierarchically above most of those who could ever have a say on it, to do it for you with absolutely 0 risks involved because they themselves eliminate them OOC. That's what we in the business call, 'powergame'. It's also such a big missed opportunity for people who have otherwise been "asking" for things to do (and were offered so) to do something actually meaningful...

Gonna send some admin OTA to kill or capture the rebel leaders with no possibility of roleplay or response since I don't want to lose my unit doing it and haven't done it myself (it was planned long ago) ok?

EDIT: Why are people in a roleplay server so scared of taking the initiative to roleplay? This would've been so cool if it had been actually player created with purpose that fits a narrative like you say over just 'lmao do it because they're combine I hate combine they should not have fun we must win' OOC...

EDIT2: "We prepared for it so it must be done one way or another" is such a... No offense, disgusting, one sided, selfish mentality that ignores everyone's roleplay except your own... (this also applies to CPs who are 'overeager' in investigations or anything equally disruptive for the rebel side). Again, this thread wouldn't exist if those who allegedly prepared for it carried it out with its full list of consequences instead of finding a cheap way to accomplish the same. So much could've come out of this... Instead it's just a bunch of people being unsatisfied and an OOC timer that forbids some from actually having a roleplay hub for no reason whatsoever.

It has been 40 days. Has this been acknowledged and have any steps been taken to ensure something like this can't happen again? We all had our day of arguing and then this thread just got forgotten about.

I don't know, ask staff they would know.

I would also like to hear some sort of reassurance that something like this would be avoided in future. Everyone here started arguing and then everyone went to sleep on it.

Given that we're on the new map now, I'm taking necessary precautions and steps to ensure that if there is actually damage committed to something particular, the damage will be noted down and how long roleplay wise it should take to appropriately repair if given an extent. A scaling of damages should be kept realistically valued. Given that incendiary grenades physically melt their target due to the chemical mixtures that are highly volatile - it would be easy to say that whatever is usually hit by them gets torched. But even I'd say five days is ridiculous for two random pop-up nades.

We're going to have attacks like this documented, and the damages logged to what was proportionate of the objective along with the gradual repairs needed to ensure what's actually functional. The more resources you contribute to the attacks, the length of which repairs are committed will be calculated.

Repairing a checkpoint in about half an hour back to normal is a bit too easy and simple. I'd rather have damages last long for all elements so long as to provide that actions have consequences from either side.

Also, for future reference in posts - don't flame war. The next time this happens I'll simply remove the comments regardless of how contributing it is to the post.

My fav thread with questionable arguments...I didn't set 5 days nor would I usually endorse this amount of damage from 2 lil nades. But the points I brought up at the time seem to fall on deaf ears. Reason i agree with all what was done is I watched, as 5 cps just sat, watching it burn and casually chatting. They had ample oppertunity to be proactive about the situation, but they simply just let the fire go out on its own.

Should that really be rewarded with minimal damage when no rp effort was made, at all, by the cps in this scenario? Seems to me, and I'm not trying to make a petty dig, it's my genuine outlook on this situation, CPs sat idle feeling protected by OOC regulations so didn't bother to engage with the situation in any meaningful way, then got annoyed that cosequences actually came of it.

Not behavior I will ever encourage.
