Character that you are applying for (if applying for Event Character): Hostile Civil Protection, all OTA roles
--- Section Three ---
Character Name: N/A
Brief summary of the character: The enemy of the good guys.
Why do you want to play this character?: Whilst I will be playing a rebel also, I also wish to play a hostile antagonist for the purpose of developing the roleplay and characters of the actual players. Considering this is an event character, I do not plan to play it except when needed, asked, or when I'm bored. It's also a good idea to have a secondary character in this regard so that the event does not suffer from manpower shortages for Combine roles. Also, I'd like to remind people that the combine exists.
Faction: Actor (Hostile)
Do you wish to take on a role: No
If yes, which role:

*Character Name: Ulf Skarsgard - DEFENDER-040
*Brief summary of the character: A brainwashed defender of the combine regime, this man has dedicated his entire life to defend the combine's way of life.
*Why do you want to play this character?: I've experienced the rebel way of fighting the combine, now for the ending, I want to fight for the combine again.
*Faction: Event/Actor (Hostile CivPro)
Full Backstory (required for Event Characters, but others may do this if they want to): Ulf Skarsgard, a Swedish member of Civil Protection, enlisted back in 2016 in city 62. There he has been learning the ways of the combine's law enforcement. In 2019, he has achieved the role of a rank leader, and in his mind, he has ascended beyond his capabilities, the combine has enlightened him during the MMR, the 62's garrison has assigned him the role of Garrison's Loyalty Officer, ensuring doubt and treasonous acts do not spread further in the garrison. In 2021, he has been relocated to city 24's capital district, where he's been further enforcing the Loyalty of the new garrison he belonged to. After some time however, he has been re-deployed to Administrative district 11, as one of the officers responsible for security for the district.
( Ulf is an old rank leader of mine before I quit due to being absolutely tired of willard back then, he's more of an event character now due to TLM, so I'm not really getting into his backstory before he enlisted. I am expecting him to die during TLM, if you want to give me the RL role like he was before I quit for this chapter for TLM, that's up to you. I'm fine with being whatever. )

*Faction: Rebel or Event/Actor (Hostile) ; Look up what I said in Section 2.
Do you wish to take on a role: Yes
If yes, which role: Refugee/Rebel
Full Backstory (required for Event Characters, but others may do this if they want to):
Mattias spent his early life Pre-Invasion as a regular student, He was near-obsessed and generally inspired by the United States military, Along with his own country's, he always heard about their achievements from his late grand-father who was a Tanker in the European theatre.
His grades were above average, Yet despite the pressure he faced to enter college with his talents, He could not shake off the desire to follow his dreams and enter a life of comradery or adventure, Thus he had decided to join the GSG-9 German Tactical Police, he had yet not faced the difficult idea of killing another person, Frankly he never liked the idea of going to war or thought about it, He simply wanted to find his place in the world.
On that fateful day when the Combine invaded, Mattias was sleeping in his home after being jolted awake by his family urging him to look outside and run, The horror on his face when he was forced into a long and brutal war that ultimately ended the world and Humanities freedom, He was lucky to survive, Yet all his friends didn't.
He was faced with the difficult choice of joining the fight against the combine, He made his way to the station while grabbing his own home rifle, The short trip saw him and his colleagues arm themselves and defend the town the best they could, Despite the efforts of their last stand, Most of them couldn't survive, The pain he felt was immeasurable, If only he could do something more, Something greater, being a generic grunt carrying on in a unwinnable scenario could never cut it when your defending humanity itself.
All of those ideas were put to rest when the War ended, Frantically fleeing from Munich where he operated, He found himself in the outskirts of Switzerland and managed to hide in Exile within City 24, His life of servitude has begun as a general Industrial worker.
Despite his work, his allegiance remained strictly against the Occupation of his world, And he'd eventually find solace in communicating with various rebel cells within the City, his ambitions clouded his judgement leading to a few close-calls with the authorities.
At the end of the day, Mattias was far too late to join any organized movement, and didn't want to risk his life along with his Peers, Minimal contact was achieved as Mattias simply sent Soldier patrol schedules along with chatter on their orders to the rebels every now and then.

Tell us about yourself:
I have around 2.8K Hours on Gmod, which were all around 2 years ago, and I left to persue studying and Hoi4 which I landed an additional 1.8K Hours on, Im very active and interested in the Roleplay community and like to demonstrate niche ideas in other games projected in my Roleplay.
Are you new to Willard Networks / How long have you been playing?
Technically yes, I am pretty new, But not to the roleplay sphere, I used to play tons of roleplay servers in Gmod, From Police RP, to HL2RP, as well as HOI4 Mega-Campaigns with enforced Heavy Roleplay, Though back then; I was like 13 or 14, I never really stuck onto Willard, something about being a completely different playstyle and combat systems I don't like, But after being told about V3 I've gotten interested and wanted to re-join.
Are you familiar with anyone around Willard Networks?:
The only person I know is Rad, since we work together on "Unforeseen Consequences" a Half life 2 mod for HOI4.
What's your favourite thing about Half Life?:
Personally, Its the resistance, and the community of Mods and amazing sub-plots, Especially EZ:2.

Few years later, He reached the age of 18 and begun studying Agriculture at the “Russian State Agrarian University” and successfully passed, In the year 2000 he volunteered to join the Russian Armed Forces (R.A.F) only to desert his post a year later due to the seven hour war, He knew that fighting against a galactic superpower that already took nearly half of the entire earth in just few hours is not worth it and decided to get some civilian clothes for himself and act as a surrendering citizen.
His plan worked and he was relocated to City Three. Now, He has been relocated to City Twenty-Four due to his loyalty and work at the CWU in City Three. Upon his stay in City 24, He volunteered to join the Civil Protection in the hopes of saving the Combine Regime from collapsing in City 24. Now, His fate is yet undecided.

What's your favorite thing about Half Life?: Everything, The way the games show how one experiment can fuck the entire facility or world up within just few days or even hours. As for HL2 i have rather big favorites within the combine, The Elite unit and Civil Protection.
*Brief summary of the character: A former Combine rail-systems technician turned Rebel logistics/intel specialist. Mara survives by making herself useful: rerouting power, spoofing door controls, cleaning stolen data, and keeping people moving when panic hits. She’s not a fearless “frontliner”—she’s the one behind the line with a headset, a map, and a hard choice already made in her head.
*Why do you want to play this character?: Because she’s built for high-stakes RP decisions: negotiations, moral compromises, and “we can’t save everyone” moments. She can naturally plug into the event’s plot (THETA data, the razor train, chaotic Combine comms, city districts falling) while giving you tons of reasons to talk to other groups—she needs allies, parts, favors, and information more than bullets.
Full Backstory (required for Event Characters, but others may do this if they want to):
Mara Varga was born in the shadow of City 24, in a block where the lights flickered more than they stayed on. She learned early that the Combine didn’t need to kill everyone to win—just control the food, the heat, and the routes people used to move. Her father was a maintenance laborer who taught her the only “safe” lesson worth knowing: if you can fix what others can’t, you last longer. By seventeen, Mara could strip a junction box blindfolded and tell you which buildings were still “live” just by the sound of their transformers. That talent drew the attention of the wrong people. Civil Protection took her as “volunteer support”—the kind of volunteering you do with a rifle near your spine—and pushed her into infrastructure work: rail relays, signal routing, security reactivation checks, and the quiet, invisible arteries that kept City 24 obedient.
She didn’t see herself as a villain at first. She told herself she was preventing “incidents.” She told herself that keeping trains running meant keeping people alive. Then she got assigned to a late-night inspection after a crackdown—one of those nights where the streets go silent and the air smells metallic. She found a broken station office with a handprint smeared across the wall, and an access terminal still showing a list of “approved detainments.” Next to it: a child’s ration card, split in half like someone tried to tear the world apart with their hands.
That was the crack in her loyalty. The real break came later, when a security restart test she signed off on “by procedure” led to a district sweep that disappeared an entire stairwell of families. When she tried to ask questions, her supervisor told her, casually: “You don’t get paid to understand. You get paid to obey.”
So Mara stopped obeying.
She began siphoning small things—old encryption chips, access schematics, maintenance schedules—anything she could hide under her boots or in the lining of her coat. She traded her first stolen chip for a forged relocation stamp. The second chip bought her a night passage through a checkpoint. The third chip bought her a name: Latch, whispered by people who needed doors opened and lights turned back on.
Her escape didn’t happen cleanly. During the confusion after the Earthquake remnants surged across the cold lands, she fled with a ragged caravan that never really became a “group” so much as a moving wound. Mara didn’t lead; she kept them unbroken. When batteries died, she made them breathe again. When radios went dead, she revived their voices. When panic fractured them, she learned how to speak in a way that sounded like certainty even when she didn’t feel it.
That’s how she ended up pushing through Industrial 24—not as a fighter first, but as the one who could tell you which corridors were newly electrified and which locks were only pretending to be sealed. She developed a habit of counting exits in every room. If you asked why, she’d say it was “just good practice.” If you listened closely, you’d hear something else: fear with a discipline wrapped around it.
When the group investigated THETA, Mara recognized the signs of a reawakening security system—the same architecture she’d maintained back in the City. The place didn’t just “turn on”; it remembered. She helped pull what data they could and—more importantly—knew when to call the retreat before the system could complete its cycle. She still carries the guilt of what they left behind, but she carries the stolen data like a torch: proof that the Combine is bleeding, proof that not all is lost.
Then came the razor train.
Mara’s Combine training made her the natural choice to understand it, and that made her dangerous to keep around—anyone with her knowledge could be a spy, or become one. She felt the suspicion like winter in her bones. She accepted it anyway, because the train represented something she’d almost forgotten how to want: momentum. Not just survival, but movement toward a future.
She helped get the train moving. She also helped decide what got left behind to make that possible: spare parts that could’ve fed a heater, a crate of supplies that might’ve saved someone’s cough from becoming pneumonia, time that someone begged for and didn’t receive. She learned that the Resistance can be merciful and still be ruthless—sometimes in the same breath.
The “spy” incident hit her hard. Mara doesn’t talk about it openly, but she blames herself in a very specific way: she knows what spies look like because she used to wear the uniform that made them. She wonders what she missed. She wonders if her desire to be trusted made her ignore a sign. She doesn’t claim innocence or certainty—only that she will not make the same mistake twice.
Now, on the edge of City 24, she hears the gunfire and the explosions and the frantic, chaotic Combine comms like a radio full of drowning voices. Districts are falling. The stalemate between Resistance, Combine, and Race-X is real, and it’s ugly. Mara doesn’t hate Race-X in the simplistic way some Rebels do; she fears them because she understands pride and offense and escalation. She watched an “ally” become hostile once already. She doesn’t want that again—but she’s realistic about what it might cost to avoid it.
She has practical ties to allied support: she knows how to coordinate with the 51st Conscripts without getting swallowed by their structure, and she respects Earthquake members who came anyway, even without their commander’s alliance. To Mara, the Mekerva isn’t just a tank—it’s a statement: someone believes this push can succeed.
No one writes like this. "the Mekerva isn't just a tank--it's a statement" was said in a way that only ChatGPT would say. Also, who writes a 900+ word backstory for a character in an event sign-up?

Helping those in need! So he worked hard on his credit score and after an attempted and fruitless internship in CWU, found himself in alongside the doctors and researchers of the CMU; until his sudden disappearance, Ted took part in all sorts of mischief and adventure, both fun and traumatizing, Fullfilling his new-found humanitarian beliefs. And now, the Bald Stoner Bastard of the Medbay comes again, with a determined cocky smile that hides a new form of depression, something deep and dark... what happened while he was out of sight..?

Are you new to Willard Networks / How long have you been playing? I started playing in 2022 but if Im correct I lost free-time to play and my playtime sadly had a full-stop. But Ill be all in with v3 hopefully!
Are you familiar with anyone around Willard Networks? DUH! IM AMAZING!.. Atleast I think so!
What's your favorite thing about Half Life?: Where to start?? But for me, it has to be the struggle humanity has and the drive mankind has to be free again. It's actually very inspiring... also vortigaunts, the art direction and the COMBINE, my god are the COMBINE peak HL2... they are an eldritch terror with the emphaty of a rock in a landslide heading for a schoolbus!
In the spirit of things, might as well post this.
I already made two about the factions. This event was a rollercoaster, hope it was fun for everybody!
