THE CAMPAIGN

THE IMPACTS
THE MECHANICS
North of Lake Geneva and beyond City Twenty Four, therein lies a contaminated region that was once heavily affected by a continual threat of portal storm manipulation. With xeno-infestation reaching critical levels supported by mutations of horrific abominations and toxic wastelands, the Alsace Wound has opened its gates.

A conquering tribe of Vortigaunts have enacted the tormenting ritual to manipulate the movements of a mass-frenzied antlion horde. Assisted by fringe groups of resistance forces known as the Wardens.

They are a highly militant and borderline terrorist group which has destabilised the nature of Geneva and the ongoing fighting found internally and externally of the city. An Antlion Horde has been sighted approaching the city directly with one purpose - to eliminate its occupants, entirely.
The campaign arc known as 'They Come From Alsace' depicts the server's progress, reactions and consequential activities to the oncoming threats which is fully driven in-character. In order for City Twenty Four to survive, the measurement of the threat is depicted with a graphical information in the above spoiler.

Each impact corresponds to the increase or decrease in threat of antlions within the server. These are influenced by actions of players on the server. The world is your oyster in regard to the choices depicted by the playerbase.

The antlions are a force to be reckoned with, and in turn the loss of City Twenty Four, or various districts, could result in a premature downfall of Sector Control.

Events and driven factors will also highly result the route the server will take, with minimal GM intervention under the duress of the server's activity.

This thread will be constantly updated depending on activity.
ANTLION HIVES / DUNGEONS
The concept of antlion hives can be used by any faction in the server for their own purposes. To enter the hives requires a list of objectives that is desired to be completed. They are also only available to enter when the GameMasters make such visitations available publicly. Destroying, disrupting or expanding the hive will impact the server.

PHEROPODS
Pheropods are gained from eliminating Antlion Guards, or raiding the antlion hive itself within their spawning pools. The pheremonal pods can be used to influence antlion movements for a temporary measurement of time. They will only work until the next Antlion Guard will appear.

Antlions will not attack you should you hold a pheromonal pod. The moment that you lose the pheromones will immediately return you to an obvious food source.

THE MAIN THREAT
The main hive is underneath the city, and is the source of an expedition to acquire extract. If ever approaching the main hive, the threat level is extremely high. Frontal assaults are suicidal, however there are certain elements that can be exploited for your own benefit. As long as the tertiary hive remains, the tertiary mutations of certain antlions remain.

OOC NOTES

Make sure to update your content from the server collection.
The server has the following changes committed for this arc to be successfully balanced.

- Upon entering bleedout for any reason on the server, you are in god mode. You will not die in bleed out unless your timer runs out, or you press and hold E, or a GM slays you.
- Standard PK rules have been changed to allow for appropriate enjoyment and fulfilment in the event.

--- VICTORY SQUARE (central point of the map) has been changed to the only existing NLR Zone for all characters, as with any other area, it is a designated S2K ZONE. Commit to a /me OR a /mel when pursuing this action.
--- Attacking in this area for any players WILL NOT RESULT in a Permanent Kill. There will not be a refund on death for lost equipment, however you do get to keep your character.
--- Deaths in this zone will result with in-character injuries instead.
--- A REMINDER: Home turf deaths [Willard Street (NEXUS included) and Triumph Street] are permanent death zones. Attacks conducted beyond Victory Square with deaths on either side will result in a PK for any faction.
NOTE: PKs and NLRs will be given if you switch zones after a fight has started. So if you start a fight in a PK Zone and run into an NLR zone, you will still be PK'd. If you start a fight in a NLR Zone and run into a PK Zone, you will be hit with an PK.
--- If you take a Downed person to a different zone, the zones (that you took them from) rules STILL apply.
----- REFER TO BLEEDOUT STATEMENT. DEATH MUST BE A WELL ROLEPLAYED EXPECTATION.

- Event deaths are a PK by default when dealing with the campaign mechanics. The antlions are the main focus of this event chain - success and failure truly depends on your own actions and interactivity between the rest of the players.

--- The GMs are a supportive reactionary foundation for your objectives - what ever they may be - so you are expected to roleplay well and put effort into your /me's.

THE FIRST WAVE

The first vanguard element of the Antlion Swarm has overwhelmed the inner pre-established defence perimeters. The Combine and Resistance Forces alike were unable to hold total control of their territory within the central core of Geneva. The Bulwark defence line has been tested, and despite suffering a catastrophic loss of the erected bunkers and fortifications within District Forty Three's immediate surroundings.

Neighbouring Districts face a similar fate as Civil Protection organises an improvised guard against future waves of the ravenous horde, while Overwatch provides critical defence of strategic facilities and installations that ensure supplied survival to the rest of the city.

The lower depths of the sewers have seen a hive of antlions established in the ruins of the trainline. The Combine, aware of this peculiar assessment and danger to socio-stability, have elected to ignore it to allow the resistance to be torn apart by the ravaging aliens.

The initial waves of the antlions that tore the city in half, have been thoroughly exterminated - allowing great breathing room to the civilian population, fringe groups and Combine response teams.

Given the failure of initiative taken from the local garrisons, a premature stand-by alert has been placed on all synthetic arm assets.

STALEMATE IN TRIUMPH

The situation in the region has stagnated. With the initial swarms of antlions being destroyed, the Combine have solidified all of VICTORY with heavy defensive bastions. Civil Protection and the civilian population are cornered, which spurs additional discontent amongst the population. This was quelled with the establishment of Heartwick's Militia - a volunteer force composed of citizens and biotic elements of the population. Resistance forces, Civil Protection and militia forces clashed in the streets of Triumph as Cremators burnt down parts of the growing antlion infestation.

The Resistance has failed to destroy the first established hive and was forced back to their original positions within the Condemned Zone. In response to the Combine's activities, Vortigaunts and other insurgents lured the antlions to Victory in order to provoke their layering aggression.

Despite this, a Combine counter-attack to cleanse Triumph was successful, stalling their advance and forebode a heightened synthetic response from Our Benefactors.

The Civil Workers Union are expending resources quicker than rejuvenation. Aerial drops are required, or a desired re-established link to the trainstation is necessary.

THE SECOND WAVE - HORDE IMMINENT

They will soon arrive with another full-sized horde. This isn't like the Vanguard that the City's defences had dealt with before. The ever increasing activity remarking insurgent assaults and antlion retaliation attacks on Triumph and Victory have been repelled, though only just. The Combine's main warehouse within District Forty-Three has been left sabotaged, the thumper destroyed despite these occurrences. Civil Protection is on heavy guard throughout the night at the frontal barricade, though they have no idea what's about to impact them at full force.

The Combine in desperation are creating a weapon that will be used to exterminate the bugs, and in turn the dissidents that continue their assaults on their position. With Code BLACK instated, we are merely inches away from a call of Autonomous Judgement Waiver.

Three antlion hives are recorded to currently exist. Failure to disintegrate or disrupt these hives will result in an ongoing rise of antlion activity throughout the region, and perhaps the local sector residing within City Twenty Four's western reaches.

JUDGEMENT DAY

Half of City Twenty Four is overwhelmed, and District Forty Three is in no shape to face a potential third wave. The Combine's Civil Protection launched last ditch operations to filtrate the insurgent movement, though it was for nought. A Combine weapon that was deployed into the Condemned Zone via canister artillery platforms had been augmented with a deadly VX-Nerve-Agent. Many have perished in shelling, with the zone now being labelled a graveyard.

The second wave had been repelled at the gates of the NEXUS within District Forty Three, the remnants of civilisation bracing for the impact that is about to commence - or better yet without their current knowledge. The Synthetic Arm is being deployed to shatter the swarm in its entirety, but at great cost of fifty percent of City Twenty Four. No longer will it be a shining jewel in the midst of the Combine's grip on the planet, but rather a ruin of a once proud nation-state.

The Summit is already contemplating a relocation effort of its primary establishment, likely all the way to City Thirteen as its most central point of operations. This is but a rumour, for they may likely remain within the boundaries of Districts One through Ten, beyond the separation of Lake Geneva.

There's no stopping what's about to arrive.
