Infestation ARC FEEDBACK

We have attempted to implement various aspects of feedback whilst also making some changes along the way. We want to know if you feel as if we've done so. Furthermore, we've heard a few issues surrounding RebelRP regarding the event, we want to hear your thoughts on that matter to see how we can improve for the next week.

We want to know officially-

1. What are your first impressions or thoughts?

2. What do you like about it?

3. What do you hate about it?

4. What do you believe can be improved for the next Arc when one arrives again?

5. Any closing thoughts or words?

We thank you for any and all feedback you may provide below! We look forward to going through each given post.

Also, you do not need to follow the above format, but we would prefer if the above questions are answered in your provided responses/posts for an easier time keeping track of your feedback and knowing exactly what your thoughts are on each point we ask of you.

1. What are your first impressions or thoughts?
The fog is here.

2. What do you like about it?
OCIN being down is really cool, big fan of the evolution on both sides.
Playing civpro has made me actually have to use my brain, which I enjoy a lot.
People are creative with Citizen RP (The Watch) to get people involved, which is awesome.

3. What do you hate about it?
Hate is a strong word, but I haven't really participated on the "rebel" side of this since
it's pretty unclear on what to do. That's really my only complaint.

4. What do you believe can be improved for the next Arc when one arrives again?
Take the above into consideration.

5. Any closing thoughts or words?
This is the nature of war, whose stake is at once the game and the authority and the justification. Seen so, war is the truest form of divination. It is the testing of one’s will and the will of another within that larger will which because it binds them is therefore forced to select. War is the ultimate game because war is at last a forcing of the unity of existence. War is god.

1. What are your first impressions or thoughts?
This kid wanna be Vorpal so bad.......
It's good. Fun!

2. What do you like about it?

The propping is top notch as always, I enjoy the rapid spread of the infestation -- really has the feeling of a ticking time bomb. The GMing is perfect, even if some elements of it are rather wack.

3. What do you hate about it?

Would love to see more rebels actively doing stuff. Turn the 55th avenue into a warzone. Whatever they want. I also believe that there should be more NPCs spawned outside of events, just to give citizens stuff to do. Crabs, zombies, etc etc are all free game.

4. What do you believe can be improved for the next Arc when one arrives again?

Wider webul participation.

5. Any closing thoughts or words?

War was always here. Before man was, war waited for him. The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner.

1. What are your first impressions or thoughts?
Initially, during the (first few?) arcs, I wasn't really paying attention nor that keen on the event. But it has grown on me, as the Distrct Watch has assembled a large amount of people and granting copious amounts of involvement to the majority of the playerbase. More and more people (almost everybody) got involved, it has evolved into something more than what I initially took it for.

2. What do you like about it?

I like the action, the combat and the tense subtones. Feels similar to the eerieness of Ekrell's NIGHTFALL short-stories event, which I give big praise to. I would like to have more combat opportunities as a simple civilian and as part of the District Watch, to fight *hard* opponents.

3. What do you hate about it?

I'm not a fan of the systems being down (i.e. CWU discord logging is down, which is my main take and give from/to the faction. I love paperwork) and I feel like this is mostly a hinderance to RP, because it makes it really hard to see what needs to be done, hard to get organized or even perform an effort to rise up against the infestation. Hard to keep track of workshift logs, stocks, work orders, emergency things. Everybody in the CWU is having a really hard time communicating and getting everybody on the same page. For example, with new things coming to light, just having to repeat yourself often AND in the end nobody knows what they are doing. From a (semi) management position, it's a logistical nightmare.

4. What do you believe can be improved for the next Arc when one arrives again?

More public information on the event, including OOC aspects. Like which Arc we are on, and for newspapers to publish information on all the known facts and history prevailing to the infestation. I would like the goals to be more clear and for them to be... well, to be more spoonfed to players, but also feel like the majority of my actions have an impact.

5. Any closing thoughts or words?

Great work staff. Please bring us OCIN (*or at least CWU systems/logs*) back long before the infestation is cleared!! I find that both can co-exist, and only serve to compliment each other.

1. What are your first impressions or thoughts?
It's not great for the Citizens who want to just chill around and exist. You're kind of being forced to go into one narrative.

2. What do you like about it?
OCIN being down leads to fun interactions between people and makes for situations that are hard to get out. Plus the player initiative of setting up the District Watch is great for roleplay.

3. What do you hate about it?
There is no clear Rebel objective. Sure, we can feed the infestation or we can fight against the Combine... But why would we do that? We know the infestation will eventually kill us and that's not the goal. The goal is to free earth, not to kill all life on the planet.

4. What do you believe can be improved for the next Arc when one arrives again?
Stop ignoring rebels.

5. Any closing thoughts or words?

Ladies and gentlemen, war, in its essence, is the ultimate game where the stakes encompass not only authority and justification but the very fabric of existence. It forces the testing of one's will against another's within the larger will that binds them, revealing the truest form of divination. War, in its relentless pursuit of unity amidst chaos, transcends mere human conflict—it becomes a manifestation of the divine itself. War is god.

1. What are your first impressions or thoughts?
very transformative of the usual formula.
i am wondering what new players must think for logging into the server for the first time and being funneled into orange city-streets peppered with gunfire.
it feels like a very (intentionally) debilitating environment to plunge the server into, especially during off-peak hours where no /event or mass-participation is really held; as was noted above, no shops are really opening and portions of the map are either a no-man's land or outright inhospitable.
overall very cool to look at but i haven't been in a position to interact with it directly beyond the occasional headcrab player.

2. What do you like about it?
amazing propping department. love coming back and finding new things have been infected. love the transformation of the plaza and med areas into like field medic tents, and the immediate mobilization of citizen rp groups, whoever the Watch are. Also I love the sense that there is a present and immediate danger. You could walk into the infestation zone and just not make it out again. The slums are being monitored more than ever. I wasn't very present for the earlier portions of it, but I do remember early slum raids; and today, a whole firefight.

3. What do you hate about it?
I had roamed around each crevice of the map at a point where we had about 85 ppl on, and you would swear there was only half that amount on.
i don't know where the activity was happening, but I was not landing in it by chance, so I was left confused at how I could organise myself into it.
(without becoming a member of Bloke's Loyalist Bootlickers.)
i dunno. maybe i'm just fatigued but there is not much for me to do passively beyond look at the pretty props, talk to a stranger about the pretty props,
or watch another faction/the CWU infestation control team RP with the pretty props.
I feel more cordoned than ever.
also, little tidbit, there is no consistent place to get facemasks from while there is a mask mandate.

4. What do you believe can be improved for the next Arc when one arrives again?.

5. Any closing thoughts or words?
who the fuck woke up the leviathan

1. What are your first impressions or thoughts?
Very cool. I wake up IC (OOC I was gone for a week) and I come to a city with fog, bloke back, and just fucked shit. Paints a good image in my mind.

2. What do you like about it?
Doing some stuff other than walking simulator and having stuff to do and repair allowing me to have reason to just build stuff which is fun. And also the network being down, it makes me think of bloke maybe making a power play, and also making me have all these ideas of what is happening behind the scenes so to say.
3. What do you hate about it?
The only real complaint about it is when CPs are not on for one section of the night allowing for stuff to happen or no one to do anything. But other than that it is GREAT!
4. What do you believe can be improved for the next Arc when one arrives again?
I don't really know, mainly just keep doing this. On second thought, have some staff or really nice players be camera guys that record neat bits and all that and make a closing video for each arc and possibly events. Would allow people that did not see some of the neat moments or just want to relive them to see them and feel like they are not missing out. I mean most of the videos and event media content I see is from the old map or a few years ago.
5. Any closing thoughts or words?
Thanks for spicing it up :)

1. What are your first impressions or thoughts?
I feel to first of all say that the initial impressions left much of the playerbase ambiguous to the ideas of how the event would play out. And that's a kind ordeal to admire within the people, including myself, taking part. It's very reactionary to how we've been handling the infestation so far, and it's constant adaptations leave much to be questioned in terms of what could happen next. For an infestation arc, this is a breath of fresh air.

2. What do you like about it?

The arc so far is very involving for the Combine side, and that much is very certain to me. I like how there's different methods of approaching the situation both empirically and impulsively, leading to both consequences and rewards for either, or. One of the main instruments of the infestation which I quite enjoy so far, is that the CCA and citizen side of things is well matured into a spontaneous eruption of activities that all correlate to one another. I feel the world is more alive that way, for good or ill of characters.

3. What do you hate about it?

I don't really hate anything about it. I don't hate anything at all, infact. I'll give a few grievances, though.

The rebels could do with some representation for this arc. The Combine are getting all of the fun, but I could be wrong considering they actually slapped the Consul out of his position in the most surprising and shocking way, possible. Vorts could be doing more, too. It's difficult to involve everyone but at the same time the rebels, slums etc feel rather neglected. Same goes for the ordinary player not part of the CWU / CMRU or something, but that's what the District Watch is for.

4. What do you believe can be improved for the next Arc when one arrives again?

Faction objectives. Each faction having an objective for positive or ill effects can be substantially worthwhile to work. For those of you who remember Rising Sun and District Forty Seven, that was peak faction objectives. Same with New Frontiers and Alaska.

5. Any closing thoughts or words?

Keep up the good stuff, it's a piece of fresh air so far.

1. What are your first impressions or thoughts?
Great storytelling, continuous amazing RP scenarios, and a rich environment.

2. What do you like about it?

What I enjoy and like about the event arc is that it reaches even the minimal groups, such as small anti-citizen groups and civilians. With the unique environment setting, making it difficult for stores to be open, work shifts to be produced, and the OCIN to be down, it allows a creative setting in which the populace can interact. The Overwatch and Civil Protection have to protect the civilians from tides of anti-citizens and Infestation frequently; civilians have to escape the grasp of the Infestation and being infected frequently attempting to survive, and both the Union Departments and the Party constantly working to push back the Infestation. The starting of the District Watch allows civilians who have no idea what to do something to do, whether being cannon fodder against the Infestation or providing a widespread for The Watch. Every aspect of Industrial 24's factions frequently participates, which I see as extraordinary. All the moderators and GMs assisting roleplay have been doing a fantastic job of keeping it consistent.

3. What do you hate about it?

I don't particularly hate any bit of the event. It reaches every spectrum in my opinion.

4. What do you believe can be improved for the next Arc when one arrives again?

Allowing more disasters to evolve if a goal isn't met. An example could be the Infestation from this event itself. It spreads further if it isn't attended to promptly; carrying out what has been done in this arc to others can be highly beneficial and a drive for a story.

5. Any closing thoughts or words?

I haven't been a part of a rich and devoted HL2rp story arc yet, and it's incredible to see Willard's Moderation team, alongside the Creative team, create something this developed and thought out. Keep up the excellent work and I can't wait to see more!

Jones Duffles - [Researcher/MOC] "The finest mind in his generation"

@Astro i hope to see some royalties for all my hard work of dropping a nosos in a pot of shitwater. Alternate timeline where killian never got captured and i never made the infestation. The dark ages.

I love u for honoring my creation and the arc is fun. But citizen rp is doing poorly. This would be fine if rebels had a leg to stand on but g3 maxxers just deployed and im thinking its jover before it was ever barrack

None of that is in ur control. The parties in charge of these systems need to adapt. Gm’s are doing great!

1. What are your first impressions or thoughts?
I don't like it.

2. What do you like about it?
The idea of it being Code Black and OCIN being shut down. Unfortunately, from what I've seen, neither Cops nor OTA treat it as such. Within 20 minutes of joining I saw a Cop approach a new player, ask them where their armband is, force them to wall it, and then re-educate them (because armbands are a very big priority during OCIN shutdown). I also saw OTA haul a worker off because he had broken glass in his pockets, literally in the middle of an infestation attack.

3. What do you hate about it?
Code Black being Marginal with some paint over. There being nothing to do except stand around and see the Watch trying to juke a gonome with melee scripts. Said gonomes jumping into the crowd after everything died down to one shot a person and run away, then to return AGAIN and steal somebody from the clinic, before... Dropping them off in an alley opposite of the building and once more running off.

All of the "Combine RP" is still locked behind an arbitrary line of the "cool kids club". If you're a normal citizen, there is not a single chance you're getting into any of the RP of the higher echelons, and you're pretty much stuck either doing nothing, or joining the S2K Watch and manning one spot for 20 minutes before an unkillable gonome comes in.

Also the flying stunstucks that suck people in. Maybe I'm missing some lore explanation here.

4. What do you believe can be improved for the next Arc when one arrives again?

Why improve it "next" arc and not right now? Ever since I joined the server, playing from the Food Shortage arc to this one, literally nothing changed. For some reason the de-facto way to "make the arc fun" is to just make it a melee S2K fest misery-wank where nobody but cops or rebels does anything moderately fun (sometimes, the "arcs" don't include even them - food shortage and blackout for example).

I mean, surely there must be something more than this? Codename Venus was an infestation based SS and it didn't rely on melee'ing gonomes for entertainment. I know a 3 day event is not exactly the same as an arc, but what's stopping us from actually exploring ideas right now instead of next time? Maybe get the Watch to do supply runs? Escort workers on infestation check ups? Get the Watch's leader some kind of an interim-mayor position to keep things organised on the ground? Maybe the Research department can ask for the civies to retrieve some samples? Or maybe someone can open up the Hotel and set up an impromptu barracks there?

1. What are your first impressions or thoughts?
Seems like a good idea that I've not seen done before (except for the infestation part)

2. What do you like about it?
I love the fact that OCIN fell completely, as it has not been done before, I love that the city is back to a state of crisis, since that's when roleplay indoors and general fear is spread the most (I love fear).

3. What do you hate about it?
The only things I can think of when it comes to "hate" is the infestation part, and some parts of OTA walking the streets on a daily basis as if nothing happened, but as I've had no problems with OTA, like getting shot or persued, I will not speak on that fact since maybe they've been given instructions on not attacking rebels if unneeded.
That being said, I'd reduce the infestation part a little bit since it's been done a bunch of times and I'd focus the event on the effects it has for both sides to have said infestation without ACTUALLY using NPC's that destroy RP by making people move somewhere else to speak or shit like that
(For example, we were talking and RP'ing on the sewers and it was cut short by a bunch of NPC's spawning. That sucks)

4. What do you believe can be improved for the next Arc when one arrives again?

Idk I'm not in CT.

5. Any closing thoughts or words?
good arc, bring less NPC's and more roleplay/effects that come from said infestation, like the radios going down, lessening the supply chain for rebels, for example, or OCIN failing.

I take it all back. This is not balanced.

OCIN network went out and somehow they got a new delivery of m4's....

WARNING! MASSIVE COMBINE PLAYER COPE INCOMING! WARNING! MASSIVE COMBINE PLAYER COPE INCOMING!
ADVERT YOUR EYES!

1. What are your first impressions or thoughts?
I was present at the workshift when the OCIN blackout occurred. I remember the rush of adrenaline as I sat on OTA and waited for what came next. I really, really, really wanted something cool to happen, evidently, basically nothing did,

2. What do you like about it?

I like how it's granted factions like CCDE and CFO to sit back and start planning for what happens after. I like the whole "We will rebuild" mindset.

3. What do you hate about it?

Where do I even begin? I suppose I'll start with Overwatch. During the majority start of the arc, notices were only occasionally given to OTA by Astro because OCIN was down. The event started out to be really fun for OTA, but then it just.. slowly died. Most of the time, OTA was sitting around doing nothing while cops shot NPCs a few feet away. I get that I shouldn't rely on OTA as my main source to play a faction, and that OTA never mixes well with citizenRP, and that we shouldn't take the jobs of cops, yet to me it feels like such a letdown.

So, after seeing the writing on the wall, I decided to go play different factions. Issue is, I can't play CWU because workshift logging is down. What about my store then? Surprisingly, all is well!

So I tried to play Civil Protection, and I have never been more disappointed. Seriously, what the fuck is the deal? At first, cops were given actual liberties, but now, out of fear of distrusting the status quo, basically everything is the same again, except we get shot if we go to the slums or whatever. There are no mass executions, firefights, barely any sign of crisis. It's like we're on socio blue but with better guns.

This event is just a parrot of the Antlion Arc. Same characteristics. A district closed off as no-mans land, food shortages, etc. The only thing we're missing is ammunition running out. Not to mention the rebels, who CONTINUALLY get the sharp end of the stick up their ass seemingly every arc. We shouldn't just restrict the fun to combine, give rebels SOMETHING to do! Because god knows they won't do it themselves, and GMs wont allow it. Even on the Antlion Arc rebels were BEGGING for something to do, why didn't they get listened to?

4. What do you believe can be improved for the next Arc when one arrives again?

- Give rebels shit to do.
- Make shit actually intense. Make it seem like we're genuinely in crisis.
- Threaten the status quo, change it, even.

5. Any closing thoughts or words?

I really hope you change things.

I love that no one realizes that we literally own the CZ. Like- from a certain standpoint, we took this part of the city and the RL's are fine with losing ground (???)

The fact that the Captains are not tar and feathering the rank leaders for losing half of the city to insurgents is really really funny.

That is because of flak from Server Council

I don't think the Combine should care about the Slums anyway, they should just treat it as some sort of 'Warzone' where you only go if it's needed and if you hear shots, or you hear about someone dying... You just laugh.

"Rebels are in the slums/sewers"
"<:: Where else would they be? ::>"

Should be the appropriate conversation between a CP and a Snitch.

This is true and I apologize but I will not remove my post because I have received a skull reaction, meaning someone considers my post funny. and funny is true.
