Prevent that sweet, sweet meta. As well as just doing away with OOC bias.

Edit— This suggestion is for the removal of Steam Name and Avatar only.

Player names are still visible for staff, of course.

You should hide the names in group menu. Only show those you know in the scoremenu.

This is like the complete opposite of another suggestion xd.

So we got a suggestion to reveal all names and a suggestion to remove any names from the scoreboard?? I don't really see much point to either. The current "Unknown" system works fine as is, with those you recognize appearing so you know when they are online which is sorta what we wanted to make sure you don't need to call an admin or pm each time to check if someone specific is on.

idk. both ideas seem like extreme ends of the stick

Ideally, just prevent your username from showing up, or have a toggle for it. Seeing a character name is fine if you recognize them, but some people may be (intentionally) targeted due to their OOC identity. I have had several instances where I was recognized on a new character because I F3'd someone and they checked the scoreboard and found out who I was.

Every time I log in and I see someone's photo wearing a CWU hazmat suit, then their description reading something anonymous.

"Ah, yes. So this person is a Rebel."

Tbh I'm in support of allowing people to go anonymous. Or at least, an option to hide your profile image and description but keep the name visible.

It's nice to know who is online, if anyone...

SO to basically be as it is now but your steam profile is hidden?

This is just for Steam names and avatars, has nothing to do with the character recognition system.

Personally I kind of like knowing if I'm roleplaying with someone who's worth interacting with, or if it's someone I absolutely want to avoid.

Making that an impossibility helps no one but the offenders.

Well yes actually

This statement right here just reminded me. Since LOOC and OOC already don't show the players' names, it is slightly harder to report minges or make reports. Since normally you would just pop open the scoreboard, find the guy you are talking to in the scoreboard > Look at their steam profile and then report them.

If we remove steam names then it is just sorta removing that ability to find out easily. One of the reasons why many RP game modes choose to keep steam names shown is to make it easier to know who to avoid and know who to report when you spot something wrong because you got their info easily enough.

Anyway, I will let you guys discuss among yourselves some more, for now I will be focusing on some other things before re-looking into this if anyone can provide some solutions. Since some people like to know who they are talking to, others don't. Some like to easily see who to report, etc. So a few factors need to be kept in mind.

I've opted to not accept this as I believe it'll obscure finding players and such as mentioned above to a quite irritating level, I do not feel comfortable just removing that. LOOC and OOC remain hidden including your character name on scoreboard which is more than satisfactory I think
