Ahhahahahaah imagine being this out of touch as a community manager

My guy, I literally admitted I read the original post wrong; if you took the time to read the other complaints and my responses, I wouldn't say I was out of touch at all; I agree with majority in which has been portrayed. But of course, I very much doubt you have done that.

I mean HL2RP is always going to be a dystopia RP. Without the dystopia aspect, you would hardly be playing HL2RP. That being said, there is a fine-line between a 'fun dystopia' and a...well real one. The former is more of what should be striven towards since, while getting thrown into a furnace for a single instance of wrong think, or a single mistake of any kind resulting in a bullet to the head, might be realistic, it certainly isn't fun. Probably not even for the party having to perform the task.

So, naturally Willard is not going to abandon the dystopia setting, but that does not mean things were handled correctly when attempting to portray that world during the servers uptime. Certain factions were way too overbearing and RP was often stifled as a result. You are supposed to feel oppressed, but not held down. Apprehensive but not totally afraid. It's a fine line. We want to portray the world in a authentic, but also enjoyable manner, which is partly why the server was paused. Too many needed pieces were not fitting into place for that to happen.

At the end of the day, it is all in the name of having fun, and telling a story within a set theme while you are at it.

There were other problems obviously, but the dystopia aspect had its own unique set of them. There is a reason we do not follow Half Life lore to the dot.

I think this is what I have meant to say, lmao.

"Muh dystopia."

Listen, it's really simple and I don't know how you guys are getting caught up in this one. The mere fact that a officer will beat you is dystopian. The Civil Protection are designed to remind you that you're playing Half-Life 2, that's it. You might choose to put any blend of flavour on the faction or factions around you but you don't need to argue "We're in a Dystopia!!!" though because everyone is already aware.

You need to realize that if you stiffen the roleplay of others, those others are not going to stick around.

You need to realize that if you give your opposition no chance of victory and rig the entire game against them, they aren't going to be your opposition because they aren't going to play anymore. This is why the Civil Protection/OTA faction sounds like a echo chamber to many.

"2013" - My boy, 2013 wasn't that bad as described, it really depended on the communities you played at. If you played at Dogfartgaming.com and felt it was oppressive doesn't mean there wasn't diamonds back then that weren't. Even TnB wasn't as bad as described.

Here's what to take home from me
You guys need to stick to a vision and uphold it. You guys need to stop fascinating over numbers too, you had 70 players for 4 days before the trend started to dip but those numbers weren't success, those numbers were hype. The only people who'd been successful in all of this were the Dev's for making a good script. Everyone in the team is pulling in a separate direction from the other and you can't get a hold/grasp on what you want to do as a result. CP's/OTA want to be brutal nuggets, CCA want to run 3 political arms of the combine that get brutalized BY the combine and Rebels just don't want to deal with any of the surface shenanigans.

Back when I joined 2 months or so ago, I put a test to you guys. Name 10+ characters and tell me about them and I am sure most of the team couldn't do that.

All I've seen since is people administrating for themselves by being "Event" characters so they can do this-
1611030587568.png
As well as having Certain admins call the playerbase delusional for pointing it out and then trying to justify even the small things.
(Every Item ID represents a new item in the economy.)
"Its a Event character everything permitted durrrahhhhh???"

I fucking dare you to justify 13+ extract spawns that're also used instantly on spawn by the admin spawning according to logs.
(And that's just a tickle of the logs btw, there is many cases of this just in the front logs alone, the backlogs are full of even more stupid shit.)

This is why I've gone from High-Faith before launch to zero faith after launch. The warning sign to me were there.

Let's see how many members of the administration are left in a admin position by the servers return.

This is completely true, but the fact that I have to FUCKING EXPLAIN THIS TO SOME PEOPLE is the problem. Personally, I'm happy to bitch and moan until I get my way, but most people don't have the patience to explain this to the community.

Agreed. To be honest, in recent weeks administration hasn’t exactly been giving us new guys, Im talking a week or two old here prior to shutdown. What event characters can and cannot do.
Still, there isn’t a proper sort of well “regulation” for event characters. I was under the impression that
“they were one off, if they die they are deleted.”
Or if they had particular scripts they weren’t allowed to have anyone obtain them. Like weapons.

What there is, is a lack of proper guidelines besides open to interpretation rules. The rules for staff is easily well defined, but for GM specialized staff in regards to event characters is nonexiststant.

Like the extract gubbery. Some of us simply cannot follow rules, to obtain that high-end gear, we are supposed to have a high chance for pk or otherwise horrendous odds. It’s outlined in a guide, just dm me. And I’ll give a few snippets

Contrary to belief, Administration as a whole has been quite allergic to distribution of script items as rewards for missions or jobs, we have been told over and over to not provide them anything besides food items.

Who provided you with these logs?

As people may not be aware, we currently are in the middle of re-interviewing every single staff member, evaluating their position and removing them if they do not fit the role. Of course; the above screenshot does highlight issues, however; I want to specify that only the Xen extract is the issue. While the spawning of items is something we're considering for the ET and admins as a whole; the weapon spawning was nothing but testing the TBC; the admin characters who are labelled, spawned the entity version and not the actual item. These never got into circulation. The Xen extract is currently being worked on, we do understand that this was in circulation, and is clear that it's an issue; we understand who spawned this item, and who the staff member was, which will be questioned regarding the incident tomorrow, when the interview comes along.

This was simply to give people an idea that we're not neglecting these issues with the staff team, we've taken this decision with careful thought, and considered it the best way forward; what can I make sure, that if abuse is clear within the team; and there is no real reason for spawning of these reasons, their position on the staff team will be terminated.

Who provided you with these logs?

Why is this your first question.
Was there any explanation as to why several extract concoctions- which give you +15 Attrib to ALL attributes at once(I was given one on DAY 2 of the server and I was level 35 for an entire week for all my skills lmao)- were injected early in the server's lifespan? Arguably a very overpowered item to be given to new players right off that bat of a launch?

This isn't me complaining. Before a certain someone pins me down for it again, this is me inquiring on the etiquette of the administration and GM team and their justifications for providing weapons and max level buffs to players Day2/3 of the server.

Edit: Mullin I was given and fed some of them extracts lmao. My character is Zhang on that pic and one of the groups I met was apparently STOCKED with em.

I understand why this may come across as if this is all Hiro's is talking about; but if you read my above comment, it should shed some light on what we're doing about investigating this as of right now; I, along with the rest of the hierarchy really do agree, that, if this really doesn't have a proper reason behind it, is straight up abuse and not welcomed on the team. Hiro's was simply asking this question; because it's deeming very hard for ourselves in how the logs were gained; leaking information in which isn't public in itself, indicates it shouldn't even be public anyways; it's something in which should be basic knowledge towards someone who has this authority and level of trust.

I read your above comment and I was hoping to gauge his response as staff head. Some of these logs were from the first week of the server. Yes, I know your saying you'll be reviewing staff members- But given how these logs were provided had to come from someone in the staff team means people within the staff were well aware of these issues and they were not being pursued. It just baffles me that three weeks into the server, we have logs of very questionable nature in your team's possession and nothing was done about it.

By all means I'm not trying to incite hostilities to you Turtle God or Hiros, I'm just confused as to the priorities of the team and their real stance on abuse. It shouldn't have taken 3 weeks to begin an investigation, that's all I'm confused on.

The logs only really came to light with us around last-week; when we had to look into it regarding the staff member anyways, this was never really communicated with us, whether that's an issue with us or something that just went under the radar; the nature is, you're right- if this is strictly abuse, I cannot say I am not disappointed that we did pick it up earlier; and for anyone who was at the result of this, and at a disadvantage because someone had use to these, all I can really do in beside of the team is apologise we didn't pick it up sooner.

These similar complaints were brought forth about a week into the server or week 2. There was another thread highlighting the actions of one of the staff members but I couldn't find it. Likely deleted or archived. Yes- I was well aware of the existence of these logs in their entirety. Let it be known that staff even told me to quit if all I am going to do is bitch and complain when I just feel exhausted seeing more and more problems pile up. Sure it was on discord general-chat but we let minges talk trash in there 24/7, insulting WN and Neb. If I'm being told to quite literally "fuck off" from the community while people brag about Neb being more fun in public channels, making alt accounts, and other shitposts- then uh...I don't know what to say to that.

Being told that I'm believing what I'm making up in my own head when the logs were right there and staff members even keeping us informed on what's happening behind the scenes gets me wondering what's even happening to the staff team internally.

I agree with both players and staff here.

For players, staff constantly ignored all these calls. I had two staff members specifically trying to cover the item distribution up with a classic ''Provide me with an evidence now!!'' namely, FungletheBungle who went on me with ''Evidence now!!!'' bullshit and didn't like the evidence that I sent him and when I kindly explained him that he is an admin with log access and he can investigate it with every resource he has while I don't have the same opportunity, he ignored it.

Then there's Maroon, he's the ''When???? How???? What?????'' guy everytime someone complained about item spawning for Duchy. This was my first hand experience when I tried to voice these issues, they'd either strictly go ''Evidence or not happen!!'' or ''When did this happen?? Give me exact date and time or not happen!!'' and I can understand people are very frustrated about it. Multiple instances of this, Antlion Extracts, Uzi, Sniper, Shotgun, Unlimited food and they were all let go with ''Evidence now!!'' or ''When?? What??'' so this was also frustrating for me aswell.. Staff needs to actually do something here already and announce the action they took because obviously people are really tired of hearing slaps on the wrists.

Now for staff, I genuinely appreciate them taking a step about these issues, we complained about this and they paused it all to work on these issues. I don't know why some people are trying to constantly bash the staff members about these issues while they're being worked on still. I think everyone needs to take a breath and let the staff accept item spawning happened and actually demote the people responsible of this. Instead of giving them this answer:

maroonprettyepic.png (764×549) (ibb.co)

It's mindblowing if you genuinely believe spawning items for your or your OOC friends don't warrant a removal from the staff team. Extremely unprofessional. (Context in this chat was exactly that, item spawning and admin railroading.) please keep the good work up with tackling the issues voiced here, most of us miss the server and I hope the best outcome out of this.

Also, I reported a trial admin before the server was paused, most of the people are aware of the admin trying to force us rebels either into surface apartments next to CPs or on a boat and the railroad issue, I never heard back about it, can anyone tell me if anything else than the good ol' slap on the wrist happened here? So far that's the only thing an abusive staff member received on this server. Hopefully that changes.

TLDR: calm down everyone.. they took a break to fix these issues, dont have to constantly bash anyone while the problems are being worked on.

I'm curious; do you mean 10 characters owned by the staff team, or in general? Because if it's the latter, then that's a really clever question.

Seeing if the staff are really as engaged with the characters which their role revolves around as we are.

I wasn't HoS first two weeks or so. Then I was Head Mod and it was out of my power to deal w GMs and now as HoS I've decided to reevaluate every single staff member. I was aware of this situation before it was mentioned here I just wonder who leaked logs because it shouldn't have happened.

And for some people who think it's to hide evidence, no. It's due to policy of staff team not supposed to leak private information from the server

EDIT: And to explain why I responded so late is due to me currently focusing on the re evaluation of the staff team instead of checking forums, plus I've fallen asleep.

Very helpful! Thank you for your amazing shitpost.

"Rat", as in "I'm not a rat", or "This is not a photo of me"

It's likely he does not trust you not to punish whoever gave him the logs, or that it's simply not a concern. My guess is that he had a staff friend who was too afraid to bring up the logs to anyone else, or he has an addon that lets him see complete internal logs.

Its definetly from a staff friend. And o figured much that it's "I'm not a rat" stuff, still a shitpost.
