They need to retcon the New Dark Continent, I think there could've been alot of good misc lore/cities there, Africa is an incredibly large continent and the fact it only has like two-or-three cities doesn't make sense. Europe is too bloated for more flavor text and some of the stuff there (Monolith, ext.) hasn't even been followed up on in nearly a year. It's just a waste and knocked out vast amounts of possible world-building.

It's nearly the /entire/ continent, and even without it there's still only really two cities on the mainland, it's just a waste.

I don't think there's more then five Japanese Willard players and yet we still relocated to City Eight, and it was still better then Terminal/City 24.
The reason Japan works is because of anime culture, etc. making Japan a much more receptive place for Westerners to empathise with and understand. The same cannot be said for the middle-east or Africa, which Westerners do not view in the same light.

C8 was so unique because we partially engaged in stereotype and encouraged players to make Japanese characters to establish an ethnic feel to the city. Do you think this would be successful, or taken seriously, in an African or middle-eastern setting?

You should entrust the mostly adult playerbase of this server to make african characters without them being glorified stereotypes.

You can't. And I'm sure most people would agree with me.
This is a stupid argument that undermines the moderation team completely -- if the player creates a racist character they're warned/banned for racism, this was the same in City 24, and same in City 8. There is no reason to restrict an entire continent just because you think Johnny Minge is going to ruin it in a character he'll be forced to delete a few minutes later.

It's not even about 'racism', per se, and more about seriousness and being able to connect with the setting because you understand it. People understand Europe, people understand Japan, more than they understand the middle-east. And if we are to engage in some degree of stereotype (which is necessary to create a properly unique personality to the setting) then it should be in a place that Westerners already have somewhat of a cultural grasp on. Those places? Europe, North America, and Japan.

Few (including me) have been exposed enough to these cultures properly through media, etc. So most won't feel comfortable or competent enough to accurately portray these cultures. And if that's the case, what's the point of using these maps if the setting change can't be fully realised?

Netspark would have to agree if Willard wanted to use LePointe. It's an in-house map commissioned for and by Netspark and its server.

You can't just write off three continents worth of content because the main server is too comfortable in Europe and North America, this is a wasteful mindset and it encourages not pushing players out of their boundaries,
if we keep doing the same thing over and over and over again, it'll be more stagnant then us testing out a map and getting some good roleplay in return.
It's just map stuff. Everything else, lore and setting included, is secondary when it comes to whether or not a map can support long-term city RP. Also, eurocentricism is just convenient; people in the staff & ET teams don't really care where Willard is set. Europe just offers the most in terms of map variety, ethnic characterization, and connection to HL2 lore.

It's published on the workshop. While certainly a good gesture to ask and the right thing to do, the rules of the workshop mean that since it was posted there anyone can subscribe to it and use it. Making an edit however would require permission.

Isn't the guy who made the map (or atleast worked on it) a good friend of Willard's/an active member anyway?

Closing as V3 I do believe would have more, not a ton more- but at least a few more.
