More Temp PKs (Prison Sentences)

Hello, I am neither a head cop nor do I have much sway but I've been watching this thread for quite some time and I'd like to give my two cents on the matter.

First of all. I understand how it may seem that some factions are PK-heavy. To a fault, some are, to another it's simply how the Roleplay goes in that direction. It cannot be helped sometimes but it can be adjusted if the situation calls for it. I won't say that every faction is perfect. EVERYTHING has a flaw to it. So I can see both sides of the coin. Down below I'm going to offer what the Civil Protection does. Yes, this is what we do depending on the crime, the roleplay, and the situation.

There are many factions that come into play when dishing out punishment. Sometimes a crime cannot be ignored and swift action must be taken to kill the issue. Other times it's seen as a reward for providing fair and just RP where they are spared. It can also be seen as how does it work for both parties. If both work together the story flows and rewards both players then a compromise can be made. Some of those I will list down below and explain them.

Temp PK [OCR] AKA: Overwatch Cardinal Recusantory
Now, as of late we've been trying to encourage to send more people who violate Red Tiers on their first offense to the OCR. Which is a program that the Combine uses to make those less than loyal into servants of the Combine. We give freedom of choice on how the player is to react to how they want the OCR process to be. Some make it a greater fear to the Combine. Some even turn face and become loyalists altogether. There's no shortage of what can be done when people are sent to the OCR.

Think of the OCR as a Maximin Security prison. Not even the higher official of the Combines know what really goes behind those walls. All that we do know is that they're effective. This is why it is used in the first place. Though no one can truly escape the OCR due to the heavy numbers of OTA and Civil Servants alike working within those walls. You could argue it's worse than death. After you're out, you have a week-long period to ensure you don't get into trouble. After that's up. You're treated as any other Citizen. Just know this offer will only be once. As it is a 3-day soft PK.

We have been using this ALOT more. I understand that people may not see it all the time but it is used quite often. It's never fun just to kill someone and go about your day. It ends the story that could be created. Plus it encouraged other kinds of RP in the future if we allow this chance.

Temp PK [MMR] AKA: Memory Replacement.
This is a bit harder than the one above to pull off. People can be brainwashed. It's even encouraged to those within the ranks of the Combine. From the foot soldier to the higher admin jobs. We can offer this more often than not when it comes to people doing minor violations, or, learning something they weren't supposed to without killing them. [Ex: Knowing a Tagline of an Officer results in MMR].

I'd argue the hardest thing to pull this off is how players react to the MMR. Everyone is different. Some roleplay it amazingly well, while others do not even RP having more than a headache. It's the loss of vital information without us killing the character. I'll admit it's not offered as much as the OCR. But it is used from time to time on lesser crimes.

Temp PK [PI] AKA: Permanent Injury
Personally, I think this should be done more. While it's not done often (yet it still has a place) to where the character takes a PI from perhaps an NLR than to say a PK. I again am not staff. I cannot speak for how the team wants that to be run but it shouldn't be counted out as a means to not having to PK someone. This can limit a character to a degree, having wounds making their lives harder or making them push themselves to a cause.

This section is only a suggestion. Where to add more PI's + NLR to replace a PK on special occasions

At the end of the day, we're all here to roleplay on a silly Garrysmod server to have fun and live through the characters we write. Offering different solutions is honestly what we do offer. Yet the Negativity Bias does typically bleed through more. I promise not everyone wants to PK a character for fun. Some do, that's a fact of roleplay. Just always remember that there are other options than killing people's characters.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

This is perfect, it can allow an opportunity for a prison breakout operation if that said character is on trial for amputation.
