MURDER AT THE OCCIDENTAL​


A Noir Willard Networks Whodunit Short-Story.
“The meaning is in the waiting.” - R. S. Thomas

The concept of this event is a completely unique story and investigation tailored by the players through roleplay. Each character will have motivations and reasons to be at the Lodge that will be discussed in a private forum conversation, giving the player the ultimate choice to enact these motivations if given enough reason from an in-character point of view. It is undecided who will be the killer(s), or the victim(s). Even the Detective could bite the bullet, knife, rope, blunt object, etc. The investigation(s) will be in an organic player-driven environment.

The World Renown Occidental Mountain Lodge is an exclusive getaway for the elite and rich individuals of the world, tucked away in the Colorado mountains. The year is 1952, it’s December 12th and the Occidental Mountain Lodge is in its slowest month in the year, not to mention the supposed blizzard that is to hit the region.

Our colourful cast of characters are all stuck together inside this Lodge due to some terrible weather. The phone line is down. The Lodge is on a backup generator.

Only a handful of guests and staff stay with the Occidental during the down-season of the harsh Winter.

A veteran of both the World Wars, hardly commended worth a damn due to the color of his skin. Wastes the remaining of his days cleaning up the spills of those much richer than him, all with a weary smile on his face. Maybe one day his kindness will be returned back to him, or maybe he's destined to die old and alone as someone foolish enough to fight a rich man's war twice.

Bombs are dropped, on Hiroshima and Nagasaki; the Axis forces were defeated by the Allied Forces, Hitler poked the bear when declaring war on The United States, for it say the great military power, in History, come to aid the attack on freedom and democracy. The dictatorships, and totalitarian governments, of Japan and German fell. Thousands of young Americans, primarily men, would fight to uphold democracy. William G. Harding was one of those young men. Serving in the United States Marine Core, battling on the European continent, after having landed through Sicily. Harding fought the Nazis, taking victory home with him.

Harding wins the election, for Colorado's 4th District; running with the democratic party and taking 55% of the votes, for the District it was evident he was the right choice. His background, in the armed forces created running speeches which supported reform in the federal government, but also change in his district. Not just representation, through voting on bills. But actual progress with the powers granted to him. He was mentored, it hadn't been a random race. Working with the Department of Defense after his call back to the United States, Harding would work under Bill Fraley, until his retirement from Congress.
