I LOVE AND SUPPORT THE IDEA OF A WEAPON/OVERALL WIPE.
I spoke with Gutsy about this yesterday, and I made it very evident that I fully support a weapon wipe. The fact that every rebel’s kit seems to be a rifle, regardless of how long they’ve BEEN A REBEL, is ridiculous.
In my own opinion, CCR IS TO BLAME. They are far too common, and far too easy for rebels to kill. Then, rebels can just stock up on their guns.

This shit feels like a semi-serious server's grinding. It's get scrap guns>shoot cop>get better gun>shoot ota>get rifle.
It's got to change.

Well, Gutsy disagrees with the weapon wipe

I think a lot of this stems from it being too easy to get into the slums and thus the outlands. You can’t really oppress people if 2 thirds of the server isn’t in the city. I think it also contributes to the Grindy aspect because why would you sit around the city and Roleplay when you can get straight to the grind for guns?

citizen RP doesn't hold as much 'value' as say, CMRU/CWU/Rebel or any other faction RP (post-edit: this was the bad take!)

give ccr junk weapons instead of fucking ARs.

Even then citizen RP should be a needed avenue towards one of those routes. I don’t think we should let people jump right into them without a little bit of citizen Roleplay to fully understand the atmosphere that the server wants to give. Giving them a chance to at least develop their character before they can begin their 3 month grind to the great rebel or doctor of all time.

IC apps when??

i was one some snoo-snoo zaza when i yapped about citizen rp, rp shouldn't be segregated between factions.

my take about the ccr was valid. conscripts are not a force that should be able to take on advanced combat forces, they are conscripted or otherwise uninformed volunteers. Junk weapons exist for a reason, and they are not being used in favour of actual weapons. Conscripts shouldn't be given the pinnacle of weaponry just for signing up.

Thinking about it from a combine standpoint, these are meatshields, a buffer between actual threats. Arming them to the teeth with tanks, combine synthetic units, helicopters and gunships is overkill.

This point especially stands with low-ranking conscripts and low ranking offcers, those in the CG/SG levels of authority which make up the large majority of conscripts. Being armed with CP Issue MP5s, AK47s, strong weapons that literally inflated the rebel economy with how often they are now.

Marco is making a great take, you guys are just blinded by the fact 90% of his other takes are abysmal that you can't see past your facade.

Don't worry Marco, I can differentiate between all of your other bad takes, and this one good take.

Not gonna talk about the CCR bit, but for this part - How would the server look like if everyone was in a faction (which is what we're closing in on anyway)?

- No one will do workshifts (bar the occasional rebel lol)
- CivPro will have nothing to do besides CvR because there is no one on the streets, because they are either in : Stores, warehouses, clinics, sewers, or some other faction base.
- The streets will be pretty devoid of life, which C8 was teetering on for quite a while

IMO, this takes us closer to the Game side of RPG, and away from the RP part. You might want this, but I don't find it Immersive to have a city with minimal citizens. Nor really a server I'd even enjoy.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the point, please let me know if so.

What I've gathered from a lot of threads is that the CCR is the problem

Hardcore dystopia is never fun for anyone and I don't know why people insist on pining for an ideal that you just can't make happen.

Cops end up being the scapegoats for ruining RP by actually going out of their way to oppress people and invariably someone takes issue with how they're oppressed and it leads to resentment.

Nah I actually do agree with this. CitizenRP is, by design, mundane. You stay as a citizen because you don't want to pick a side (or are undercover as a rebel), which just isn't sustainable for a lot of people.

There is an issue at hand where the most powerful rebels on the server are not necessarily the best roleplayers. This is a problem, and it needs to be changed immediately. Guns should not be craftable, not even scrap weapons. Ammunition too, to that degree. Only allow basic medical supplies to be crafted and INCREDIBLY basic armour sets. If this sounds like hell, you’re the person we are working against.

Scrap the current BMD system completely.
BMD’s are glorified vendors, and it’s far too easy to get high-tier loot on a character. Every BMD is a glorified supermarket, and this needs to be changed.

I propose a new system completely, inspired by another community. It works there incredibly well.

BMD’s will consist of THREE entities. Production, imports, and schemes.

Production. My answer to the lack of a thorough crafting system. This can be anything from a textile mill to a drug lab, and we need to ensure that each is fit for the server as it currently stands to balance out the economy. Each group with a ‘production’ auth will have a channel on their group page on the rebel discord where they can post the logs of them roleplaying the creation of these scripts, or they can have a GM oversee if there is one available. This will work as an ‘order’ system, and will be ticked upon completion and heavily moderated.

Imports. This will mainly be high-tier items (weapons, etc.) and will be outright given to the characters that choose to distribute these goods, but again, it will be heavily moderated. An example of this is a BMD getting given a supply of 3 AK’s and a pistol, then told to sell those goods rather than ordering whatever they please.
There will be a way to “order” specific weapons should a character want them, but there will need to be decent reasoning and quality from both sides, and they can be outright refused by the BMD managers. It is also worth noting that the BMD selling these items will be somewhat 'responsible’ for who they give the item to, so they must choose them carefully.

Schemes. This is interesting and will be mainly player-driven.
Players will be able to act within factions and extort them in particular ways (without too much detriment to the faction itself). An example of this would be a Civil Protection officer skimming ammunition from the vendor with the intention of selling it on, but this must be roleplayed extremely creatively - this can be investigated if word gets out, the unit in question can be caught, but that's the risk they're taking upon themselves IC for such a high reward. We should not limit schemes and instead give players the initiative to go as creative as they want, but each will be open to refusal and removal at any sign of ill intention, bad placement, or poor quality.

These roles will not necessarily have to be filled by rebels. If the fitting is right, citizens can get their hands dirty—and even civil protection in some rare cases. Creativity and high quality must be rewarded.

I sent this guide over to Bassilisk and Rabithunter a while ago back when I was supposed to be a BMD lead (LOL), but the systems are unchanged. Wipe weapons all you want now, but without any system to replace the current one and it'll just return to the same-old in a month or so. People may not 'like' this change as it makes it a lot more complicated, but it NEEDS to be more complicated when you see people running around in full-kits of gear despite the fact that they can't have the spelling capabilities of a child and can't write a /me longer than 2 lines. You all agreed to the terms and conditions in the quiz saying that you understood roleplay was 'slow-paced' and not about getting gear, and yet here we are all the same. Complicated is not a bad thing.

Also, anyone with half a brain can shotcop, why the fuck are we rewarding that? Call those mfs out for poor-quality and boot them.
You all complain about no longer being a 'serious' rp server when every interaction is 20 player wide S2K events and admin enforced PK's with AI tanks. Write some open-ended and interesting stories that require thought, cheers.

1718552556890.png"scav get me three adrenaline shots or you will NOT have access to my large quantity of scrap AKs"

real talk though I make it a standard on my character to ensure those he deals things that are more serious than mere scrap to are actually serious/willing to work for the stuff by sending them on quests to sabotage/collect things that're otherwise hard to come by, to prove them capable of handling heavier jobs in the future, thus worth supplying to begin with. I recommend everyone to encourage this, one shouldn't get the best gear by merely rummaging through trash long enough to purchase a firearm!

I posted the wrong gif at the end but it's funny so I'm gonna keep it there and post a comment instead. Here,

Rebels are equipped insanely well, any CP squad would actually perish before they even broke their armour.

(posted too early rip)

Point being, overwatch weaponry and old-world weaponry is too common place. We should be seeing more 'scrap weapons' such as a scrap smg like this one here.
