Obligatory OTA complaint thread (the sequel)

You did attack the nexus and kill several units. Not sure what you'd expect. That on top of the fact your characters can just stroll in and out of the outlands. Why not hide there after such a huge attack on the combine?

I believe everything was said why the sweep happened.

Was ot overkill? I half agree and not like as @swagile said the hard set limit is meh because it can be easily meta-gamed and basically gives one side an advantage.

What lol? We did an attack in the sewers and killed one unit, and captured two others. We had to defend our exit point to the Outlands for like 10 minutes.

I think its a bit unfair specifically to the rebels who had nothing to do with this. Imagine being literally any other rebel who has no information on what happened last night, flagging on just to get steam-rolled by a group of 10 OTA? If you want to do overkill sweeps, I think a fair compromise would be NLR for those that die, except for those who caused the sweep to begin with, who would be PK'd.

Also the unit didn't even die. His PK was reversed. He was just injured.

You won’t get killed if you aren’t in full kit or marked BOL/AC and haven’t committed any huge crimes. For those caught in such a way… they sort of had it coming.

I agree with this though. It would also allow for more frequent REGULAR sweeps, not overkill. Adding more danger to the sewers and more for cops and OTA to do while reducing PK risk.

I think its a bit lame that this is your only choice. Even if you had a group of fighters ready, you could do nothing against an OTA sweep of that size. If it were CPs on the other hand, it'd be a different story. You might actually be able to fight your way out. I do agree though, in most cases, you should just stow your gear and be done with it.

My bad not the nexus. But that was not an attack on the sewers. you were all in a place where you had to somehow break through a combine door, and access a place where they kept sensitive information and important infrastructure. The fact that you didn't kill, but captured multiple units is even more reason for a large reaction by the combine.

I don't get the whole fuss over all the PKs for unaffiliated characters. Were they just minding their own business and got mowed down by overwatch in the sweep, or what?

I mean they did that 30-man squad against the duchy so this is lesser to complain about but given what i've seen people living with its.. even?

It was in the sewers, just at the Combine access point.

Mostly just my opinion on the precedent set. I don't have all the details (other than being the cause of the sweep and being online when it happened, among other things) I'll probably just shut my trap at this point.

>Rebels attack CP-1, CPs can’t take it back
>OTA leads decide to do a ‘shadow’ sweep which turns into a THREE SQUADS
>Fife rebels die.
>Whole goal? Kill off rebels.

I remember bottlestreet winning against OTA, what happened? Vorts nerfed, EOW got sent and most of them got fucked. Furthermore, instead of sending a more powerful squad of OTA, they send 3 squads against an enemy that was not there.

I understand coping and seething blah blah blah, this sweep brings up some fundamental problems that always have been from the start. I see in staff chat that staff complain about rebels being cowards and not attacking, and then this shit happens and it is like ‘they got it coming’. No. They do not. They did their job as a player for attacking and they get punished for it. I won’t except rebels to attack anymore, end of story for that part.

The other fundamental is that last time I checked, the OTA was a faction that shouldn’t be deploying carefreely but yet that seems to full on death ears. And obviously there is the argument about rebels bringing around RP, OTA playing to win (which is fine in itself but not during these situations)

Tl;dr: retarded situation and i hate OTA

oh and SAS being remote from OTA general to avoid metagame (trust moment)

In all seriousness
As an OTA Member I hate over deployment and overuse of a faction that is in my humble opinion meant as an event faction.

Maybe it is time we start Stabilization Delegates as what they are Stabilization Delegates.
They're not sent in all willy nilly to sweep, that is the CP's job.

Feel like cops were partly robbed of their chance of revenge. Would've been more interesting and even if RL's took a relatively big squad down there to fuck shit up or maybe try to free the two units captured.

Also, were any of the three Vortigaunts that caused shit even captured/killed?

Honestly the response was heavy handed for what we did. Then again, we stole data, destroyed nexus infastructure, and abducted 2 units, wounding another heavily. I can respect the fact the combine sent in OTA to sweep but this was a full day after the fact, on top of the fact it turned into 3 squads being deployed. Little bit much if you ask me, but I agree with you here, I think the OTA should be deployed only as what they're meant to be for.. You never saw OTA in hl2 until after you generally really fucked shit up and went to the coast. Fucking combine checkpoints up right left n center n shit.

And they kinda did. Well... They knew we had captives. as one's suit was active until we had it disabled. Which they attacked us to try and free the two units we had captured. However we held them off and escaped at the last second. To be fair we all got rp out of it and im pretty happy for that.

Edit: The two medics present, me and Umber. Actually saved the units lives and mended their wounds, allowing them to continue their Rp as resistance members.

This is what bothers me. Mercy for the sake of RP is shown from one side, which would no doubt have led to something interesting one way or another. I know Combine bad and all that, but cops, at least, may have a slight inkling to either spare someone in the future for this, or let it affect them in other ways.

OTA, on the other hand.... well I've always mentioned that the entire faction is kinda skewed considering they're solely a PK force that has absolutely nothing to lose but their pride if they die.
